Eating The World for Christmas and New Years 2019

Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies

We headed up through Tomorrowland...

7A1E400C-F3B3-43A6-B754-3462139D7882.jpeg

...and something caught our eye that we saw others walking around with so we went on a hunt for it. We found it at Auntie Gravity;s Galactic Goodies. It was a Christmas Special Milk Shake...it was gingerbread flavored!

FFF427FC-4663-459F-9CB6-BE94B6817205.jpeg

It was, again, messy. But it was super good! We fought over the giant Mickey head marshmallow. ANd it was so cute...which is half the value right there! With the rain on and off and with it being slightly hot outside, we had to drink this pretty quickly but between the four of us, it did not take long! It cost us $8.51...we checked out at 2:48pm.

TOTAL = $366.71

Casey's Corner

After the Jingle Cruise we were all hungry again So we decided on Casey's Corner. So at 4:22pm we headed over there. The area was crowded but there was enough room to find a table. We love watching the ducks, the castle, people, parades from here. We gave Cary the order and went to find a table.

The poor kid in the wheelchair was petrified of the ducks and the ducks had no fear of him!

Skyler ordered the Corn Dog Nuggets Meal with Cheese Sauce - served with Apple Slices or French Fries.

47CB8A0E-774B-492A-8B70-9574CFFD87D7.jpeg

She really liked them and there was quite a bit of them so we all got to try them. We all agreed! Casey's fried are really good dipped in cheese...and for me, ketchup and cheese or ketchup and mayo!

Tyler got the All-Beef Hot Dog Meal - served with Apple Slices or French Fries...plain!

DF8197A8-6A33-4D2D-89B6-64DF40906F31.jpeg

This is exactly what he loves in a dog!

Cary and I decided to share the Chili-Cheese All-Beef Hot Dog - topped with Chili and Cheddar. Served with Apple Slices or French Fries.

49C0F574-41E6-4FFF-A153-113F81F2D7CE.jpeg

And it was really good! They do have a foot long version also but we decided on the regular one because we were also sharing the Bacon Macaroni & Cheese Fries - French Fries topped with Macaroni and Cheese and Bacon!

033E3985-4703-40C0-AA37-EF91D17C940B.jpeg

These were really good, although hard to eat because, well, noodles do not stick to french fries very well! The kids even snagged some of this...and if you've been paying attention you know what a huge thing that is! Skye loves the "juicy" kind of mac & cheese to dip fries in but bacon on mac & cheese? NO WAY! And Tyler is just not very adventurous...until he is???

Between the fries and the dogs, we have plenty of food and we all left full. It was 4:25pm when Cary checked out and we probably sat there for 30-40 minutes. Our total was $42.56. We love Casey's but we don't tend to get there a lot either because of the location, or the lure of other foods or because of the dining plan.

TOTAL = $409.27

Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes

Everyone wanted to eat and since we had never had breakfast in Asia we stopped at Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes. We all ordered and then Skyler and I went to find a table. There were a lot open but most were either directly int he sun (which was crazy hot just then) or still wet from the rain (there was a cast member going around wiping down the chairs and tables though). We were able to find one in the sun but not directly and soon Tyler came to find us and then Cary was coming with the food.

F6F1CCA6-0B68-4401-9622-3337F151BF58.jpeg

We did our usual of ordering three things for us to all share.

We ended up getting a Bacon and Egg Sandwich - Eggs, American Cheese, Candied Black Pepper Bacon on Toasted Challah Bread served with Hash Brown Bites...minus the cheese.

818B61FE-9818-4337-8AE6-23325D64A5FD.jpeg

He was afraid of this...challah, 'nuff said. But he loved it...I keep telling him to stop getting hung up on words! Personally, I don't know how he eats a breakfast sandwich without cheese but whatever! I did have a bite or two and it was really good.

Cary and I decided to share the Breakfast Bowl with Bacon or Sausage - Scrambled Eggs, Cheddar Cheese, Breakfast Potatoes, Pepper and Onions with choice of Bacon or Sausage...with sausage.

A29B9BB6-EC7E-4286-B7D7-B50FDBFD31A2.jpeg

It was plenty big enough for both of us and had plenty of all ingredients spread out in it. We both really liked it, and Skyler scammed on some of the potatoes.

We also ordered a side of Hash Brown Bites.

0C683C54-577C-4E71-9D05-84BEE325ABBF.jpeg

We all enjoyed the hash brown bites and we had plenty of them to go around...they were fresh and hot but not greasy at all!

Skyler decided on the Kid's French Toast - includes choice of 1% Mickey Milk, Small Bottled Water or 100% Minute Maid® Apple Juice...and it's not listed but it came with hash brown bites too.

:

This was perfect for her for breakfast. All of it was really good and she got a big bottle of apple juice, not a little juice box so she was pleased!

While we were eating (we were seated along the side near the monkeys) one of the Howler Monkeys started "singing"...for a long time...really loudly...it was so funny!

Cary ordered at 9:31am and our total was $36.81. We have likes all meals here now, so I am sure we will be back in the future.

TOTAL = $446.08

Isle of Java

So we stopped at Isle of Java and he got a Joffrey’s Coffee™ Cold Brew - Joffrey’s Shakin’ Jamaican™.

F52BBC73-7837-4D6E-8CD1-106CC45B5C4F.jpeg

And I have been wanting a Cheshire Cat Tail at Magic Kingdom for a while and just have not gotten one yet so I got the Tiger Tail Chocolate Twist.

5E72E30F-EBD7-4E22-B7E5-2E08BC2A8CF4.jpeg

We wanted something else but I cannot remember what it was. I think it was mini-cinnamon rolls or mini-donuts but I don't have a picture because they had just run out of them. Anyway, Cary likes his Jamaican and the tail was really good! I was glad I got it because now I know! LOL...We were there at 10:40am and our stuff cost $10.42. This was a nice quick stop on our journey...we would stop again if it was where we were.

TOTAL = $456.50

Thank you for your review of the Diamond Horseshoe! We went there years and years ago when it was the Diamond Horseshoe Review, and you had to have tickets for it, which went really fast first thing in the morning. I've been wanting to go there again, mostly for old times sake, but I was leery because of not knowing how the food was. Now I can't wait to give it a try! You also now have me wanting to stop at the Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafe for breakfast, which we've yet to do. We've go to the table service restaurant almost every trip, but it's nice to know of another breakfast option at AK.

Pongu Pongu

The next stop requirement was at Pongu Pongu for a Night Blossom - Non-Alcoholic Specialty Beverage - layers of Apple and Desert Pear Limeade topped with Passion Fruit Boba Balls. I cannot believe I do not have a picture of this beauty but we all love it...not too sweet and nice and cold! This was our first experience with Boba Balls years ago! The total was $6.38 and it was 11:19am.

TOTAL = $452.88

Harambe Market

It was pouring when we got off the train so we donned out ponchos and umbrella and headed to The Harambe Market. We decided on what to get and Skye and I found a seat in a covered area along the fence overlooking the train tracks. Animal Kingdom has become one of our favorite places to snack around. So we ordered two items. First we got the Beef and Lamb Gyro - Thin-sliced Gyro Meats served open-faced on Naan topped with Cucumber and Tomato Salad and Tzatziki Sauce and served with African Coleslaw.

9BC5A726_84C4_4D0F_96A6_4BB1F7DCA751.jpeg

I don't remember it being Chicken and Lamb (I thought it was chicken only) but maybe? I do remember that we both really enjoyed it. It felt lighter than a regular gyros...maybe just because there was less meat on it or maybe it was the sauce on it? Who knows...but it was really good and I even liked the coleslaw!

We also ordered the Chicken Bowl -
Grilled Chicken and White Rice served with choice of Apple Slices or Carrot Sticks with choice of Small Lowfat Milk or Small DASANI® Water.

9B70A194_3F64_4167_926D_D8335A38469B.jpeg

And of course she got the cookie not the carrots or grapes! This was pretty dry...not texture wise, just that it had nothing on it. The meat is seasoned well and who does not like white rice...especially some what picky young adult-ish people? The both liked this and would have gotten another one if I hadn't reminded them that there were more places to stop on our way around.

We were here at 3:32pm and we sat a while and waited to let the rain subside a bit. We all enjoyed our food here and it was not crowded at this time. We are actually sad to see this place not on the list of open venues for our upcoming trip. I know we will return here someday. Our total was $26.28.

TOTAL = $479.16

Carvan Road Food Truck

After we left Harambe Market we headed for a walk. Our first stop was Caravan Road for Char Siu Pork - served with Sticky Rice...

D9098ED5_6697_4AB8_8AF4_18EE56E34DD2.jpeg

This was really good. I was expecting it to be like the entree I had had at Skipper Canteen before but it was much more tender an a more subtle taste to it. It is very small so if you want more than a taste, I suggest getting more than one. Cary and I liked it, the kids liked the sticky rice...LOL. Our total was $6.70.

TOTAL $485.86

Mr Kamal's Food Truck

We then stopped at Mr Kamal's Burgers (I never noticed the name have "burgers" on the end of it but that is what my receipt says...and they don't serve burgers???). We grabbed the Chicken Dumplings - served with Ponzu .

4295B041_BF72_478C_954A_602E2B69D239.jpeg

And an order of Mr. Kamal's Seasoned Fries available dipping sauces include saffron aioli, honey kimchi ketchup, and Tandoori honey mustard.

F65770F4_799D_478F_9B5A_C088ABEA7132.jpeg

Well, me and the kids LOVE the dumplings...they are crispy on the outside and have great flavor. Cary does not usually eat dumplings, so he allows us to have them since the order is so small! Some day we will order more than one of them but we are usually eating around so we don't want to fill up on them.

We also love the fries. Cary will eat a few but he thinks they are too spicy...we think he's a wimp with spicy foods so take that with a grain of salt but we love the flavors. For perspective...I enjoy a bit of spice, even to the edge of hot as long as the flavor is good...the kids have crappy taste in heat and will down a bag of Takis in no time...YUCK! So if trying to gauge the spiciness on us, i hope that helped...LOL. We also like the different kinds of sauces available in self serve dispensers for the fries. As weirdly as the kids eat, he love to try odd things. Tyler is not really a "dipper" but he enjoyed it here. And of course, we all like different ones! Our total here was $12.76 and it was 4pm when we paid.

There is not really much seating around these food trucks (which are basically across from each other
so we took them to a table along the water overlooking the Tree of Life for a great view while snacking.

TOTAL = $498.62

Trilobites

So at home the kids love Mr. Submarine's Buffalo Chicken Cheese Fries so when Tyler saw sign at Trilobites, that was our next food stop! We grabbed a Buffalo Chicken Chips.

80006FC4_A34F_4BF6_85A9_0ADDDB7162FD.jpeg

And, well, are you thinking what I am thinking? Yep. The sign does not give a description of what is on them or how they are served. Normally, DIsney is great at providing that sort of info but not this time. So in addition to buffalo chicken and liquid cheese, they also have a blue cheese sauce and a relish that from what I could tell was a mixture of onions, celery, and tomatoes. I'm all good with that...even the blue cheese, which i don't normally use but blue cheese in Disney never seems too strong to me. SO I though they were wonderful. Skyler and Cary did not even try (each for their own reasons) and Tyler liked the parts he could get out without blue cheese or the relish. All in all, I think these were a winner but next time we know what to ask for! it was 5:22pm and our total was $9.05. We carried these with us on the way to our next destination.

TOTAL = $507.67

Flame Tree Barbecue

So next on the agenda was heading around to Flame Tree Barbecue. We do not usually frequent this place...again, we are probably in the minority here but it is not a favorite in this park. I mean, we like it but there is turning out to be so many good eats in Animal Kingdom that BBQ just is not one of our normally favorite cuisines. So we headed over, told Cary what to get and we all went to find seats. The seating over here is awesome...lots of it, great views, and a lot of it is covered. Normally the kids like to sit by the fountain where the bird hang out so they can watch them steal food from people...we have always been big bird people (my parents have had a Yellow Naped Amazon, an African Grey, and a macaw since i was young) so they always find it fun. This time, however, it was still raining on and off so we wanted something under cover.

324C7734_E878_4917_AC36_009351741530.jpeg

So we odered the Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork - Baked Macaroni and Cheese topped with Smoked Pulled Pork, Onion Rings and Coleslaw...with the pork on the side. Somehow we did not ge tthe onion rings and we didn't even notice until we were almost done.

D4FCF3BF_5CD0_4D95_8931_815953E7C34B.jpeg

Now, our opinion on this is two fold. The Mac & Cheese was what we expected it to taste like but it was much smaller and not very nicely presented. We did get the pork on the side because freaks don't like their mac & cheese with pork on it. The pork was pretty dry by itself but with the pre-packaged BBQ sauce it was great...I appreciate that they did not sauce the pork though because i tend to not like a ton of BBQ on my meat so I was able to put as much or as little as I wanted on it. I don't generally do coleslaw but i did taste it and it was not bad. Cary liked it though.

We also ordered the Ribs and Chicken Combo - Ribs and Chicken served with Signature Baked Beans and Coleslaw...per the online menu NOW...at the time it was a Sampler Platter and included pulled pork too.

3A5F56EA_FD4C_47D8_AE0B_0A387DC8DF08.jpeg

So, we all really liked the chicken, the ribs were really good, and the pork was decent. The beans are great but the kids won't eat them and we already covered the coleslaw. Nothing is heavily sauced here so you are able to use as much, o r as little, as you want.

For dessert we also ordered the Apple Crisp Cupcake...that is seasonal. Ooohh, it was really good! The cake was apple spice flavored but very light. The topping was apples and cinnamon sugar...so it was sweet but not overly so. We all split this.

BD43B89E_BF3C_4C40_A85E_70C910F7FDCA.jpeg

We all enjoyed our meal here tonight and we had great seats. Our total was $42.88...so it was not cheap at all! I am sure if the opportunity presents itself we will be back here but it is not someplace we run to each trip.

It was 5:30pm when we cashed out at Flame Tree so we while we were eating we were able to catch the back side of Rivers of Light : We Are One. Once the show was about to start one of the operators of the show came to stand right at the rail by our table with her radio. She told us we really needed to see it from the front (we had attempted a few other times but were rained out half way through and we find the seating horrible for this show) and then told us more about it. She said it was the highest tech show Disney had developed. She described some of the show and was really informative. She stood there the whole show watching while reporting back through her radio. She said it is part of production to make sure things go off as they are supposed to.

Tamu Tamu

At 7:40pm we stopped at Tamu Tamu for a Simba Sunset - DOLE Whip® Pineapple with Watermelon, Strawberry and Coconut-flavored Syrup.

And it was pretty dang good ! We all enjoyed it...it was 7:40pm and this cost was $5.85.

TOTAL = $556.40

World Premiere Food Court

Once we arrived home, we decided we needed food...yes, AGAIN!

We stopped in at World Premiere Food Court and decided what to order.

7692E47A_4791_4AE5_B57C_CB3FD1079F0B.jpeg

A Group was out singing Christmas songs ... a really nice touch! I was feeling really wiped so as soon as we were all settled on what we were ordering I headed back to the room. I found this guy on the way...

D96744C2_F339_4E1C_BDD8_AB0CC0EC340A.jpeg

You don't see snails in Illinois much so it is always fun to see wild snails (not the ones on the plate) in Florida!

When they got their food they came back to the room with it. Skyler ordered a Single Scoop Waffle Cone and finished it while waiting for the food AND DID NOT TAKE A PICTURE OF IT!!! But she said ti was a good ice cream cone.

We also ordered me a
Lowfat Milk because I had a snack to eat in the room. I normally woudl not pay $1.99 for this timy thing but I wanted milk with my cookie or cupcake or whatever it was I was planning to eat with it.

D184D79C_01AD_4305_88F6_235F100BDF48.jpeg

Cary ordered the bowl of chili that was a side at time but I do not see it on the menu now.

42BE8733_92FC_4E3D_8C82_F12807266EBA.jpeg

It was a pretty decent chili but I think it is really hard to mess up chili. We shared it...the kids will not touch chili!

And then we got the Large Pepperoni Pizza Dinner -House-made Pizza served with a Salad and Bread Sticks - Serves 6.

BD4170BF_6D43_4505_9094_35C5BABA1130.jpeg

All of this was good and plenty for all of us even if we had not ordered the chili and ice cream and milk! We enjoy the Disney pizza...now, when we go to a pizza place, we know what we are getting so is it the best pizza we've ever had? No. But it is pretty dang good for what it is!

They checked out at 10:05pm and it cost $43.71.

TOTAL = $600.11

Sunshine Seasons Food Fair

So we went through Seasons, each of us getting what we needed. With the way it is set up here, it is easier for each of us to be involved rather than just sending one or two of us.

So Cary and I chose to share a Breakfast Plate - with Eggs, Potatoes, Bacon, Sausage, and French Toast.

img_3863.jpg

Cary also had a coffee...

img_3867(1).jpg

Skyler ordered the Kid's French Toast - with sausage and served with choice of small lowfat milk, small chocolate milk, small juice box, small water, small whole milk, small soy milk, or soft drink.

img_3865.jpg

Tyler ordered a Cinnamon Roll...DUH!

img_3866.jpg

We had a Strawberry Shortcake also...

img_3868.jpg

We were disappointed. Not that it wasn't good but it was completely different than what the Strawberry
Shortcake has been in the past. It used to be more like a Napoleon, fresh layers of pastry, strawberries and whopped cream...this time it was more like a pudding cup. It was good but just not as good as it used to be. We probably would not get it in this version again,

Anyway, ll the food seemed fresh and was all good. I love the french toast, everyone else is eh about it. Otherwise we all kinda shared everything and had enough to hold us over to the next food stop.

It was busy in there but not crowded. So we were able to find a decent table pretty easily, this place is a madhouse at most meal times usually...I think everyone was getting their ride on first today.

We come to Seasons a lot. We usually hit it for breakfast because with all the good food in the World Showcase, we're not coming back for Seasons.

We were checked out at 10:25am and this all cost $32.86...a bit much for the breakfast we had but it is Disney so we expect it...can't beat the atmosphere!

When we were done eating we had some time before our next fast pass so we pulled out our Uno cards and had a game. Another table of older ladies near us was playing Uno too...we thought that was funny!

TOTAL = $632.97

I love reading your reviews, they make me particularly miss Disney now. Thank you so much for taking the time to share and write everything out, I can so vividly imagine being there from your posts!

Yukon Holiday Kitchen

We started in Canada. At 1:52pm we stopped at Yukon Holiday Kitchen for a Peppermint Pinwheel Cookie.

img_3893.jpg

...and a Frozen Coffee...

img_3894.jpg

...And the Seared Verlasso Salmon with Crown Maple Whisky Glaze, Parsnip Silk, Apple Chutney and Hazelnut Croquant...

img_3896.jpg

We loved this cookie (we each sampled a quarter of it each), the salmon was great and had good flavor. I was the only one who would eat the side but I really enjoyed it. The coffee was coffee. These are definitely not meant to be shared so if you're eating to get full, you may need more then one but they are enough to sample and share and make your way around the world! Our total was $13.00.

TOTAL = $645.97
