News Round Up 2020

I thought they might open Casey’s with all that outdoor seating it has. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, but it's at a chokepoint near the central hub and the ordering area is way too small. Hopefully they move the menu items to Cosmic Ray's or something.

...Crazy idea, what if they reopened Tomorrowland Terrace? The whole thing just seems to be in a constant state of flux.

...and I just went and checked. It's showing a lunch and dinner menu at Tomorrowland Terrace?

I think that’s the same menu they had before when they were open

There aren't a whole lot of QS places left at MK, but I sort of understand. Casey's is my favorite, but the location is terrible for social distancing. Same with the ice cream parlor. Closing Harbor House might make sense if they're planning on using it as a rest area as someone speculated in another thread.

This might be the first time that I've ever eaten at Pecos Bill or Cosmic Ray's. I just didn't find either menu all that appealing to me. Although, with the mask I just may want to pay extra to cool down at a table service restaurant. It will be interesting times indeed.

All of a sudden there is a wait list to see Sonny Eclipse

I didn’t have Animal Kingdom filling for a day before Magic Kingdom! I figured we’d see 20 DHS days fill before we saw anything else...
Same. I’m surprised! Maybe MK has higher capacity?

I am surprised too - MK does have a higher capacity but I would have thought AK would ha e a pretty high capacity as well, but maybe without the shows there isn't as many places for people to go so they are keeping a lower capcoty that the park theoretically could hold

Also makes me think more people are waiting for (or willing to go) when all 4 parks are open that the 14th filled for AK before either filled on the 11th

I was surprised too. I was also expecting opening day to go first, not the day before DHS/Epcot.

Then again, while Animal Kingdom is huge, it doesn't have a lot of attractions. Also their two biggest capacity attractions, Nemo and Lion King, aren't going to be doing shows.

Primeval Whirl, while I hate it and want it gone, can still absorb 900 people an hour. If possible, they really should try to get that coaster up and running since ride capacity wouldn't be hit that hard.

Primeval Whirl is also ideal for social distancing. I think they must still have real concerns about it after what happened to a similar ride last year in England because they close it every time they can afford to.

Blasphemy!!!

I love that ride! For some reason, that part of park is really pretty at dusk, when the carnival lights turn on.
:)

They altered the restraint system, so I don't think it has the same issues as the one at Lightwater Valley. I think the bigger issue is that they're out of parts and it doesn't seem like they can get more. Once it breaks, it's broken forever.

As much as I REALLY want to get back to Disney, it seems each time I turn around I'm paying more for less. :(
It just doesn't seem like this is the year to go for a "vacation" and it's somewhat depressing (for me). Have an annual pass and within a day's drive? Maybe .. since you get value out of the pass every additional day you go (no matter what you do or don't do). If I still had my annual pass, I'd try and go for a quick getaway. But without the pass? Ya .. I am not going to "waste" a normal day ticket and spend the full price on less.

Personally, I'm afraid it will feel like a ghost town in the parks . and just not have the same "magical" feel. Masks, half the restaurants closed, no M&Gs.

If Disney decides they want more guests and open more stuff back up and discount the resorts? Sure . may time to risk going in the fall/winter.

I mean absolutely no offense. I am sure things will be much better next year. I think it's amazing what they actually are offering, all things considered.
I'm not so sure next year will be better. The reservation system is in place until Sept 2021. Are they expecting masks until then too? That's the big unknown. My DD is graduating HS next year. it would be good to get a trip in before then. Not looking good for that idea...

They must be basing capacity on the number of rides, attractions and restaurants open. AK was always pretty sparse on that account, take away the M&Gs, the petting zoo, the boneyard, Whirl and their 3 big shows .. there just isn't much to do at AK, so I would guess the max capacity is just lower? Talk about a true half day park. Will AK have the "entertainment" walking about .. like the singers/dancers? If not .. Animal Kingdom seems like it will be a lot of walking for just a few rides and way less themed atmosphere (which is one of its selling points). But I guess if you ever wanted to ride FoP multiple times in a day, this would be the time to do it.

We understand your feelings, you post basically the same thing everyday. But there are some people that will feel it is worth it. There are also a lot that have the same feelings as you. To each their own. It’s definitely going to be a different experience.
