Hi everyone! I am asking if anyone has been successful with a credit card chargeback on reservations from the DVC Rental Company either for when the hotel was closed or for a future date. I have a July 7th reservation.

We were planning on going close to the end of June. Our options were to either lose our deposit completely or gamble on paying the remaining balance in hopes that Aulani will be closed. If they are closed for our dates, we will be able to get credit that is good for two years. We ended up paying the remaining balance. Now we are just waiting for the official word on whether or not Aulani will be closed for our dates. It’s quite possible that Aulani might be open by July 7th so then you either chose to go or forfeit your deposit.

Exact same scenario for us...supposed to be checking in at the end of June as well. I gambled and paid the remaining balance in hope of being able to get a credit for future travel. My agent said that they are working with people who have reservations through June 20th at this point. The southwest flight that I was on was cancelled so I am thinking that Aulani will not open with the quarantine in place but who knows.

Edited to add...my friend just texted me that the governor of Hawaii is going to extend the quarantine past June 30th but has not announced specifics yet.

I watched the Governor Ige and the four mayors’ live meeting. That is what the governor said. He said the quarantine would be extended past June 30th.

On a brighter note, Governor Ige just announced that the 14 day quarantine for mainland travel will be extended past 6/30.

I am also curious if anyone has officially obtained their credit from the DVC Rental Store. Our check in is June 16th and I haven't received any info yet. My contact at DVC RS has told me that Aulani has only officially canceled reservations through June 6th and they need to wait for Aulani to cancel before I can get my credit.

Just wanted to update -- I received the official email yesterday from the credit department of DVC rental store with my credit voucher for my June 16th stay at Aulani. Email states it's good for two years (June 2022) but does also say that availability is going to be even more competitive over the next two years because of rescheduling of canceled trips and banked dvc points. We're hoping to book June 2021 as soon as the June window opens.

Made my final payment yesterday for a stay starting July 7... Was leaning heavily towards trya chargeback, but the initial payment was more than 6 months ago and I didn’t like the odds there. So, wife and I decided to “gamble” like others and hope for a credit.
I asked DVC RS a lot of questions prior to final payment re:quarantine and travel restrictions even if Aulani was open... all answers were “No credit available”.
Some friends on Oahu (who work in the hotel industry) told me yesterday that there’s no chance of anything open before July 7, so I’m generally confident.

We Would most likely try to use the credit at WDW next summer 2021.

That’s promising!!! Thank you for sharing!!!

We had a reservation for beginning of May for 3 nights and at the time we canceled I had only paid deposit but when DCL canceled our Hawaii cruise I knew we wouldn't be traveling. Canceled reservation in March and in early May I received an email letting me know I had a credit and 2 years to use it. I had written the deposit off so was pleasantly surprised when I got the email!

That’s great to hear... I wish DVC RS would have just been proactive and credited all payments (despite their No refund policy). I was ready to write off the deposit also, but decided to pay in full with fingers crossed that it’s gonna be closed a while still... if it opens in any capacity before 7/7 I’m SOL

Same here. We are supposed to check in on June 30th so I am fairly confident but would feel better hearing that I had a credit (which I haven't yet). My balance was due in May and they told me that I would not get the credit unless I paid in full which is what I did. Fingers crossed that both you and I will get the credit and be able to use it!

I am not sure if you can give praise to specific companies here. However, I rented through DVC-Rental.com only because I found them on the disboards. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS COMPANY. They were very responsive from booking the rental, to going through closure, to selling my reservation (can't come in late June as of now- I am from NY). The owners are amazing!

Thank you for this-- we are considering renting confirmed reservations/points so this is great to know!

I'm renting through them & they are trustworthy. However, their policies are just as rigid & customer-unfriendly as any other DVC rental company, so I strongly recommend travel insurance (including a cancel for any reason clause), when booking a DVC rental. It can be a good deal and they're on the up & up, but you still need to cover yourself in case something interferes with your trip. You cannot expect them to be in any way flexible.
