Resort Change by Disney

For days Ive lurked through the boards reading everyones stories about their resort changes. The gambler in me said to wait it out. I vowed that i wouldn't spend my time hours on hold. lol
Our reservations are for Sept 4-7 at the Grand Destino Tower - Club Level.

Some other things happened in life yesterday and I worked myself up into calling last night. Around 6:30pm and only being on hold for about 15 mins Katie answered the phone and assured she could help. First she offered Fort Wilderness or Caribbean. I politely asked if those were comparable to Club Level, which i knew they weren't, and she said that i was correct and then offered me my choice of Beach Club,Contemporary or Polynesian.
I chose Poly and she moved us to a Lagoon View-Club Level with no extra charge. I politely again asked about Club Level, as Disney is saying at this time there will be none. She stated that things are changing daily and if they weren't offering it otherwise in September that Disney would comp me.

I left the call happy as a lark as we wouldn't have otherwise stayed at the Polynesian for the cost vs how much we're in the room. :)

Awesome - I would have killed for the Poly.

Maybe time for me to make another call

I know it's a popular name and probably a total coincidence, but a Katie in guest services this Weds is also the one who hooked us up with a very magical price protected upgrade from our closed moderate to Poly! That poor gal is gonna be swamped because everyone is going to request to speak to Katie now 🤣

Question- please direct me if this is the wrong thread. Has anyone at a closed resort received their magic bands? I ordered two a few weeks ago (not complimentary) and still haven't received a shipping notification. I still haven't been moved from POR (third party issue). We check in 7/16. Estimated delivery is 10 business days before arrival... which would be next week. TIA!

If a TA made the resort only reservation for us does the TA have to call about my POR resort only late August stay or can I call? This is the first time I have used a TA to help out a friend. I’m wanting to keep it but I know they will have to move us. I would prefer not to have FW cabins as this is just the hubby and I for our anniversary. (Nothing against the cabins, we usually stay value or POR, just wanting a different vibe).

Unfortunately, TA only.

Looking to manage my expectations: I got thru fairly quickly today (not sure how) but he wasn't able to help me and put in for a callback (which I hope is soon). Anyway here's our story and I'm just looking for opinions on what to expect as best case scenario:
Originally scheduled trip was 3/21-3/29 with room only res and a 7 day base ticket.
Parks closed so we rescheduled for 7/28-8-6 at POFQ, were offered the free dining for the march cancelation. FQ is closed so we need to pick a new resort but to further complicate our school calendar will be changing and we also have to pick new dates. Soonest we can go is 12/18-12/23 (never been there around Cmas so I've made my peace with our vacation that seems like it might never happen.
Anyway we can't keep the res at POFQ bc they do not have a reopening date. My question is if we don't want to stay at the other mods that are open what should I expect (advocate for) as our choice? I'd LOVE to stay at a Deluxe, we never have, but given our new dates I doubt we can afford that. Are they offering any type of comparable discount that might make someplace like Contemporary doable? I know AK isn't expected to open and I'm guessing Poly is more $$ than CR so just looking for advice on what I should pitch when they call me back and what is realistic! Thank you in advance.....this was a lot to read :)

Did you book with DVC points? We rented them for the first time ever and I'm now kicking myself.....very hard.

If you rented points, DVC will contact the owner and if the owner doesn’t get back to them, they will move you when you get there.

If you move dates, there is no price protection so you pay the normal price. If you were free dining, then you should still get the 35% but not positive.

We were booked at POR in August, the best Rubin would do was CBR preferred, but we had a RR at POR so I opted to move to November and was moved to CSR Tower Water for a $100 more total. We are totally ok with that considering. Happy Friday to you all and I hope everyone finds their magical way some how. :flower1:

Base on our experience I think you're right. On Wednesday we were told by two different Cm's that our POFQ reservation for September could only be moved to another moderate (CBR or the Cabins) with price protection. We could have any open resort with a 35% discount. Or we could cancel. They were polite, sympathetic, and unyielding.

Sounds like the matrix came two days after people started calling. The ones who got an upgrade were the first to call before the guidelines came out, I'm sure it also depends on availability for your dates.

That's how I understand it as well. We are trying to move to later in this year, not 2021.

There are a few reports on here of people being able to add a ticket day to their package. If that's not true, that's totally fine, just frustrating to not have straight across the board answers.

I have raised those reports with three separate guest services CMs and each time was told no extra ticket days can be added. The third guest services CM I spoke to said she had seen those online reports too (wonder if she's here--if so, hi CM!!) and those reports cannot possibly be true because they have no ability to add ticket days in the system; only downgrade to a shorter ticket/drop hoppers. I can only assume that one of two things is happening: (1) the people who added a day were able to get through on a technical glitch before Disney IT was able to lock the system down, or (2) they are mistaken about what the CM did and the CM in fact only added a day to the resort stay but not the ticket on the package.

Had 2 room only reservations at ASMo Feb 28-Mar 6, 2021. TA is moving those to POP with price protection and modifying to package with tickets.

There have been some people who had success booking later dates and retaining the discount, but only for 2020 reservations, so you may be okay in December. Coronado and Caribbean Beach are both tentatively scheduled to be open so there may be some good availability. That may make it harder to get moved to a deluxe.

The garden rooms at the Contemporary can be a good deal, the tower is much more pricey.

uh oh...Desantis just closed all bars who don't sell more than 50% food...that is how he started last time. I pray this gets better soon, but man it is crazy here in Florida...my heart can't take another resi shuffle

And the reason that @Friendlyadvice2 said TA only is due to your reservation being "owned" by your TA. That's how they get paid by Disney, it is part of the agreement that you, your TA and Disney have agreed to use for your reservation.

You should contact your TA and confirm that they know your preferences but they are locked into a process with Disney and this week has been very hard on all parties with all the changes and reduced number of resorts and the changes to the new Park Reservation system and removal of Park Hoppers.

No not crazy since Texas did the same thing a few hours before Florida to close bars in house service at this time. They all said adjustments would be made during the reopening process for each state based on facts on the ground.

I hope you're right. I'm terrified I just threw all this money out the window. We rented from Daves DVC, literally just finalized the reservation just 3 days ago. The fine print reads "In the even that the resort is closed or you're unable to travel, no refunds, credits, or modifications will be allowed. No exceptions." Should I have any hope at all?
