Photopass and masks

For anyone who has attended the preview days... Are they allowing you to remove masks temporarily for PP shots? I get all the uniqueness of the moment and the time for the memory, but it would be nice if temporary removal was allowed for shots with family and friends you are vacationing with anyway.

From the AP Facebook group, you're not allowed to remove masks at all for any photopass-ops, including on rides. Supposedly, if you remove your mask on a ride for the photo, it gets deleted from the system and it will never show on your account.

No, you must leave the ask on when taking a pic with a photopass CM
You can take the mask off briefly to take a picture on your own, and then put it back on. Obviously try and do this in an area where there are no crowds

Seems like Disney doesn’t want to let out any “official” photos without masks, so it doesn’t imply they condone removal. And while I would totally want the ability to remove ours for a pic, seems like that will just make it harder for them to enforce the wearing. Would be great if they designated some of the “photo spots” as mask-free areas, with a “mask squad” CM there to just allow one group in there at a time. I worry for these CMs who have to try to enforce the new rules. In the past, Disney line management doesn’t seem to back the front-line guys much on stuff like line-cutting (or maybe that’s just my perception?); maybe this is the impetus to help resolve that.

I have seen way more enforcement at Disney in the 2 days I've been there than in my entire 23 years of AP life, no kidding. The managers are being strict, not only with guest but also will other CM that might not be social distancing. The number one priority right now is safety, I heard a manager speaking to a CM at the ferry dock, he (the CM) was having a hard time with the mask and the shield and the manager told him he had to try and make it work for safety.

As hard as it is to see right now, there will be good things to come from all this. Some things we may not like, but also some good. Maybe that will be one of the good ones! Would also love to see a thread with some more of your (and others who attended) impressions from yesterday. I didn’t get to watch any of the livestream.

It felt odd taking pictures with masks on, but hey it's the times we live in right now. I reminded myself yesterday that these will someday be a unique set of pictures.

And I think that's probably the best perspective to have. To be able to say that there was a very specific point in history that you were at the parks and you have the pictures to prove it.

Agree!! And just look—you totally match the castle!! I fully admit, I’m hoping by the time we go, even if masks are required, there are opportunities for mask-free shots too. But yes, in 20 years, it really will be a milestone to look back on.

My head is already spinning trying to figure out how to incorporate the mask into my daily outfits when I'm in the parks. My wife and I are big fans of disneybounding, so this opens up a whole new world of possibilities!

I agree. At a few select areas in the park, I don't see why they can't have a taped off box to take a photo mask free. Step into zone, remove mask, take photo, put mask on, step out of zone. Seems sensible to me, at least in front of the park icons. I am ok with the restrictions and following the rules, but this seems like a really simple, no cost, and easy thing to implement in a few spots that would go a long way towards guest satisfaction during this unprecedented time.

all the CM have been told to keep a look out for people taking pics, they are allowed to take mask off, click, put mask on. Not sure if creating specific areas would hinder in the social distancing department, people standing in line waiting to go into the pic "square". For example the castle has many great photo spots, same with the other icons and the Falcon.

The on ride photo on HM for me and DS yesterday is classic with our masks on. Not seeing faces leaves so much to the imagination about whatever our emotions were at the time.

Oddly, 7DMT on ride photos haven’t shown up yet.

I’m guessing they won’t sell many Photopass packages if masks are required for them. I mean I can live without ride photos, there aren’t any meet and greets, and I’d rather take my own non-mask photos for free. Granted I don’t intend to go back until they aren’t required, but I’m just thinking that other will have similar lines of thought.

My opinion has not changed. I have no desire to spend $20 a pop to buy pictures where you can't see our smiles. Happy for those whom it does not bother, but Disney will apparently be doing without my PhotoPass/Memory Maker dollars this year, until the policy is changed.

Hmmm that might be true as well.....but maybe a few discreet x’s on the sidewalk for a line? Like in the queues...which reminds me to ask: Did any of the queues extend outside the ride buildings or were there markings on the sidewalks or at snack windows showing where to stand? Just curious if they were themed!

not themed, but yes markers everywhere, the 7DMT markers went almost all the way around the attraction and toward the LM ride. Snack cart also have markers. IASW has an extended queue were stroller parking used to be.

Very interesting. I've heard from some CMs that guests can't take off their masks for photos at all. Even with their own camera. 🤷‍♀️
