Need to vent!

We don't know anyone personally who have tested positive for CV19 - we have heard of people who have - still, even pre-virus, I wouldn't want to be coughed on. We wear the masks in buildings but take it off as soon as we're out. It does feel like someone's playing a huge joke on us and we're the masked idiots. People are scared - my husband's scared.

It's discouraging to find out that friends you previously respected are "maskholes."

Seeing people's pictures on their facebook pages has been eyeopening. It bothers me even more that they are posting pictures showing them not following covid recommendations that the fact that they aren't following them.

Intentionally coughing on people can get you arrested for assault these days.

What also bugs me a lot are individuals like my BIL & SIL who say that they're quarantining and social distancing. But then they go and have party time with neighbors up and down the street...10 or so adults + a whole bunch of children all huddled around a fire pit. NOBODY wearing masks. NOBODY staying 6' or more away from each other.

They claim that they're quarantining with their neighbor across the street, one of whom is immune compromised. Well, THAT guy regularly goes to his favorite watering hole a couple of days a week. "Oh but it's ok because we all sit outside." The guy never wears a mask when they're all doing drunk fire pit time or drunk hot tub time a few evenings a week. And this is in California we're talking about. Ironically, my BIL & SIL think that they are doing a great job staying away from people. Um, what? Your house is basically the neighborhood party hub. It's like Grand Central Station at your place.

Unbelievable. It sounds like your ILs and my ILs should get together and have lunch or something.

We just had a case the next town over from us that 17 people tested positive from a baby shower. People are just so ignorant!!

IMO, the window has been open for decades and me being a 70yo geezer can attest to that. BTW, at the Walmart and Publix I went to this morning there was 100% compliance,

Ok, just putting this out there. I believe in wearing masks. It’s the decent thing to do and yes I understand there are some people who can’t physically wear them. I wear a mask every time I go out of my house. Here’s my rant: My brother called me and was talking about my sister-in-law’s trip to Walmart, this was before the mandatory masks, where she got fed up with how long the elderly lady, who was wearing a mask, in front of her was taking in the aisle. So she walked up behind her, stuck her tongue out and coughed! My sister-in-law is very anti-mask and thinks that the whole COVID issue is a hoax. Plus my brother told me that she actually laughs at people in public who are wearing masks. This is a 59 year old woman! My brother was laughing about it the whole time! I am so disgusted with both of them that I could care less if I ever talk to them again. Thanks for letting me vent.

Your brother and SIL are idiots and I hope your SIL ends up with Covid. Maybe then she won't be so stupid about it. It's the only way people like that will get this is a very serious issue.

I would call your SIL out and ask why she thought that was appropriate. She doesn't know what that lady has that might make her susceptible to anything, including regular germs we all carry. She doesn't know that the poor woman might be battling cancer or maybe her husband is waiting for a transplant or just that she's lost a friend to the disease and wants to be careful. Mostly, your SIL doesn't know if this lady has been exposed and is trying to be considerate of others... unlike your SIL. Is she that important that she needs to make someone miserable because she voluntarily waited in an aisle a minute more than she wanted? Is that worth having that poor woman's life on her conscience? And how would she feel if someone had done that to her mother? Or your mother? Ask these things and see what kind of response you get. If nothing else, she might think twice before doing it again.

Other than being born without ears what Mexican condition would keep you from wearing a mask? My friend's mom with COPD and on oxygen still wears hers while she waits for a lung transplant.

There are masks with Brad elastics, masks that can be adapted, a hand with little knobs to hook the earloops to instead...

Coincidentally, my local station was doing a report on masks while I was reading this thread. Kohl's, CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, Lowe's, Starbucks...all require masks be worn. Aldi, Target Gap...all coming soon.

As long as we are venting... I am getting very offended by the number of anti-Biden ads that are currently showing up on just about every Disney message boards I have visited.
