EXPIRED - Direct Sales Incentives - Summer 2020 - Expanded list!

Yup. The 30/60/90 strategy on disney cc that some people have posted is not a bad plan either.
Best of luck with your house hunting/buying 😊

Yeah i've always considered getting a disney visa for that express purpose - getting the 0% for 6 months, then transferring to a 12-18 month 0% card... but hmmm that's tempting.

This was my original plan....with Disneyland Tower in a few years.
Yeah im trying to look at all the least expensive finance options with buying direct. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet since I have a BLT contract currently in ROFR. I plan to put a deposit tomorrow for RIV direct so I dont lose out on the current incentives and hope I get my ROFR decision before the rescision period ends.

Thank you. That is very useful information to have! I was wondering why he seemed to be difficult when the lady on the phone last week was all pixie dust and rainbows. pixiedust:

I bought Thursday right before they closed. Points loaded Friday and I called and got them banked. This morning I logged in and booked a room for March. All of that and I still haven’t signed the papers yet. Try and talk to someone else

Now I have to figure out how to get this paperwork notarized. I have gone to my bank in the past, but it's "temporarily closed." I don't think it's due to Covid, because our numbers are lower now than the last time I went in to the branch. Maybe air quality, but they work inside?? :confused3

Buy direct, they said. Super easy, they said. :chat:

Luckily I was able to get my paperwork notarized yesterday at my bank. I thought I had read somewhere that FedEx has notaries, but they don't - UPS has them. So you can go to a UPS store with a notary, then leave and go to FedEx to send the paperwork with the label they give you! :rotfl2:

I also read on here somewhere that there are mobile notary services - maybe there's a local one near you.

Ah, I guess we should have qualified “super super easy if paying cash.” My guide has mentioned that they had great offers for 1 year, but I didn’t even ask because I didn’t want to deal with getting it notarized. And I wanted my 2% back with 6 months 0% interest on my Disney VISA.

Though now of course I’m wondering if I should switch to my Sapphire Reserve for 3% back on travel, since I have to pay some of it off sooner to be able to put it all on my card. Does anyone know if Disney direct DVC purchases still code as travel?

That said, I should’ve asked my guide about the 1 year offer. Does anyone know what the interest rate is for existing members (more than 1 year)? Wondering if it would be worth it to switch my RIV to part down on my CC then the remainder on the loan. Assuming the stock market continues as is, I expect I’ll make more keeping my money in investments than that interest rate so it might be worth it to consider the 1 year loan.

dont do it to me lol
I did post elsewhere that I may have an addonitis problem... ;-)

I ended up adding on RIV for that reason (though part of me kept saying I could just add on more CCV at $180/point), partly because I DO want an Epcot area resort and realized I’m unlikely to see $155/point for a direct purchase any time in the near future and not again for RIV, and unless Reflections comes back, I am unlikely to ever make a large direct purchase again (as I bought 2 Fixed Weeks at CCV) to qualify for the 300+ incentives. And this actually works well for us - we can do a split stay to take advantage of F&W at Epcot, and when we use our FWs at CCV, we can come down on Thursday and stay Th-Sun at RIV then switch to CCV for our two weeks.

This was my strategy as well! Except I’m squinting real hard at my existing credit cards and hoping one of them will give me a 0% balance transfer offer without me needing to open another credit card. I’m trying to get below the 5/24 rule so I can get the new Chase Flex Freedom card to add to my Chase Ultimate Rewards Cards collection (sadly while it has a 0% purchase offer it doesn’t have a 0% balance transfer option).

Yes. I used my Chase Sapphire Reserve card last week for direct purchase. My statement shows that the category is travel and that I received 3x points. That was also my first travel purchase since my card anniversary so I received an additional $300 off.

I think its 5.45% for the 1 year for more seasoned DVC members per Where’s Piglets post.

Thats good to hear that it still codes as travel. I was planning to put my deposit on my Chase Reserve.

So I see people talking about getting 2019 points on a direct purchase. How does that work? If I were to buy riviera this week I would somehow get 2019 points? Wouldn’t they expire before I got a chance to use them? I thought they had to be banked well in advance.

two days left ... 😨

I will say realistically today is the last day to start the process. If you wait until tomorrow do not be shocked if it does not get completed.

There is zero reason to wait until tomorrow, start the process today, you can always cancel the contract or decide not to sign the contract.

You get all current UY points. Meaning if your UY is October/November/December you are still in your 2019 UY. So you would get your current UY points which are '19 that DVC would bank for you even though you are past the deadline (or at least that has been the case).

Also you only pay prorated MFs regardless of what you purchase so in theory are getting those MFs for "free".

EDIT: To add that do not set your UY just to get some extra points. If you travel between Sept-Dec each year those UY would be terrible to have and cause all sorts of headaches in the future.

Yes, i just did this recently. I called Jul 28 and put deposit on CCV Aug use year contracts (2x100pt). Received activation code and membership # the next day; guide explained to me to call member services ASAP to have them bank my points from 2019. I called that same day that i got my membership and activation code and they banked my points for me. Then Aug 1, the 2020 points were there in my account as well.

So what is all this 30/60/90 about or other creative purchase models? Our original direct DVC purchase we did the Disney Visa 6 month 0% stuff, but I may be able to convince the Mrs. on another direct buy if the $ timing works out.
