Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

And this isn't just for AP holders and tourists that want DL to open.

How many thousands of workers are waiting to return to their jobs (or have to try and find other jobs because they aren't called back)? How many areas have local businesses that really depend on these parks being open? They are all awaiting this guidance as well. The fact that he hasn't come out and given guidance to this industry is mind-boggling.

I understand that it is a BIG industry and you have a lot of things that need to be worked out, but it seems like some sort of guidance should have been given already. If he believes that these parks should stay closed until there is a vaccine, come out and say so. If he thinks there are ways to have them open safely with proper guidelines, come out and tell this industry what guidelines they need to meet.

Exactly -- if the governor intends to just keep theme parks closed until 2021 when a vaccine will widely be available, just tell us. That way, as painful as it is, Disney CMs can make plans to change careers, Disney and other theme parks can move to more permanently mothball rides and/or progress to other construction projects... or even outright close if the operation cannot support the closure.

You guys are funny! I get a kick out of reading through everyone's thoughts. I'm more of an "it's easier to prevent than cure" type myself, and I appreciate the cautious approach, but I do think there can be a happy medium here. Plus I have a couple of upcoming DL trips I'd really, really like to take, so I'm both cautious and self-centered 😆

Hey, see you at Disneyland soon!

Well, we just have to look at it from another perspective...:
Everyone of us will be going to DL soon, not quite yet but soon!
Isn’t that nice to know?
And that’s true for everyone... :rotfl:

I guess I have to start planning.... soon... :rotfl2:

Unfortunately, when DL comes back it will be in reduced capacity for at least 6 months to maybe even a year. It was never going to be able to bring everyone back. At least not during the first opening phases. Better to let these people get unemployment (hopefully the senate can close that deal). Disney was always going the making some very tough cuts when it opened.

I am JUST thinking out loud and know nothing...... really the head is empty....

So if it is around 44000- per day..... and not sure if that is both parks., and if you are starting only at 25 percent that is only 12000 per day for the beginning phase. Which would be only 6000 per park. You would need considerably less staff and someone you need to get back into the green.

Unfortunately I see this as positive move towards Disney reopening.

Wow so many non-Disney fans in the twitter comments :rotfl2:

I'd reply, but I have better things to do, like roll the dice on another round of date/announcement speculation items with y'all!

So that implies average daily attendance is the 100% marker that will be used, is this being used at WDW? Last I heard, after they opened SWGE, the official/unofficial maximum capacity of DL is 80,000 (33,000 ish for DCA). The way I read that, the maximum at 25% will be 28,250 across both parks (treat both parks as one, or proportionally assign).

If this doesn't wake them up then nothing will. You don't want a union coming in to support another candidate come election time.

This is the perfect squeeze.

The union either sides with the governor for worker safety and well being, or the union agrees with Disneyland that people need to get back to work/DL needs to earn revenue again... for worker safety and well being (seeing as indefinitely paying for healthcare is not a sustainable idea).

Disney is laying off 28,000 employees as pandemic hammers its theme parks

It’s hit CNN...

Wow that headline is not even close to being accurate, hahahah, but I'll take it.
