I'm just curious why people are coming now, well September, and up through December of this year. We went in July and will be going in November. Both trips were already planned and have non-refundable DVC rentals. I don't want this to get political. So, stick to an answer in the poll.

We are out of state AP holders that don't intend to renew. So if we don't go now, we would have to buy tickets to return. Our APs should have expired in May. We could have requested a refund, but knew we couldn't plan a future trip for the amount of the refund. Due to the closure and extensions of our APs, we were able to get in extra trips. Our last AP trip was planned for May. Instead, we went a week in July, a long weekend in September, and leaving tomorrow for another week.

Like you, we have non-refundable DVC rentals and have been planning this Christmas trip (first time there for actual Christmas, second time for the Holiday Season) for a year.

There has been a change though. It's just me and my 75+ year old parents. My father has decided it's just too risky and he doesn't feel safe going. He has rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes, so it's totally understandable. My mother, however, insists that she's still coming. She'll be celebrating her 78th birthday down there (Dec 23). She loves WDW as much as I do, and even though I told her multiple times that she can stay home with Dad (I mean...it's Christmas!) and I'll happily go solo (I'm getting my DVC $$ worth! LOL) she refuses.

So, it'll be a Mother-Daughter Birthday/Christmas trip. We know it will be different than other trips, and we're going to be very careful about masking up, washing/sanitizing hands, and socially distancing while we're down there. We'll still have fun! We always have fun at WDW!

We’ve spent a couple of years planning this family trip. We originally planned for Spring Break 2021, but when professor daughter’s Spring Break ended up scheduled the week before the grandkids’ Spring Break we had no choice but to book during their December breaks. And by golly we’re going! :p

We planned a late September early October trip for Disneyland. It’s not opened and we got super cheap flights to Florida. So we went to WDW! We honestly never thought we could take our whole family to WDW because flights are so expensive for 6 people. So even though this trip didn’t have everything open, we still loved it and couldn’t believe we were able to do it!

Other: Because in not going to live my life at home.

I’m a grown adult who can make decisions for myself, and if the parks open and I feel it’s safe we’re going. It was a blast too!

But why now? Why not the end of last year/beginning of the year? Why not next year? Did you already have a trip planned this year that you had to reschedule? Were you already booked for this time of year? I am specifically trying to understand where the attendance is coming from, not why people are not coming.

Plus, I find your post a little offensive and off-topic. Do you smoke cigarettes, downhill ski without a helmet, drive a car without a seatbelt, ride a motorcycle, or do autoracing? Well, if you don't, then someone may think you are not living your life to the fullest. And yes, I ride a motorcycle and do autoracing. I also flew to Germany the first day flights opened up from the US to Europe after September 11. Plus, I walk down the stairs in my house everyday, and I am notoriously klutzy.

We went in August 2020 for our family trip, but my adult DD and I were supposed to do a girls weekend back in May while the rest of the family was camping. Since WDW was closed I rescheduled for November and we've stuck to it (adding 2 days due to flight changes and DH will be still WFH so can be with my youngest DD, so I figured why not?)

With the change in season, it's evolved into sort of a birthday trip for DD :)

I voted other because you didn’t have a “Disneyland isn’t open yet” option.

Yeah, I didn't think of that option. I can't imagine trading a Disneyland trip for WDW, except in this case. Although, I really do love both resorts; I just don't get out to DLR as much as I would like.

Other--I just need a break. Work has been awful, remote learning is more awful, and we basically just booked this trip a week ago because I couldn't take it any more and I need to get AWAY. Plus I have unused vacation I need to "use or lose" by the end of the year--and I don't really love traveling around Christmas/Thanksgiving. As for why Disney, it is is a known quantity for me--I know we will have a good time as a family.

We are out of state AP holders who do not plan to renew. Our big May trip including all of our kids, etc. was cancelled. I have gone twice since they reopened, once with DH and once with a friend thanks to super cheap airfare. We decided to go once more before the APs expire and now 2 of our kids can make it which is better than none of them.

We live in Iowa so we are equal distance away from each but always feel Disneyland is “home” because we went there first. Truth is we had a giant Southern California trip planned. Kids included, time at beach, legoland, Disneyland. But have now traded it for a quick adults only Disneyworld/universal trip.

We are in Texas, so equidistant too. However, I went to WDW as a kid, so it feels like my home park. I am itching to get out to Disneyland again and Universal Hollywood and Knott's Berry Farm for the first time.

I came because I wanted to and had some free time off work hence the “other” option in your poll. Secondly, don’t be cringy because you didn’t like my answer.
