We got a screaming deal on airfare and we LOVE the Food and Wine Festival. We were at WDW in January and managed to do everything we wanted to do in DHS so we're skipping that park this time on our 4 day trip. We'll be masked up and ready for (almost) anything!

The other great thing about "having" to schedule in Dec? We get to bring my BIL. He never goes anywhere, bc he works in the horse racing industry and is busy from Feb to Nov, with no one who wants to travel in the colder weather. He used to be in the industry in Ocala, but hasn't been to FL in close to 20 years. This way, he gets to have a fun trip with the kids.

Delayed our August MNSSHP trip - in retrospect, maybe we should have come then, but I wasn't ready to fly yet. Rescheduled for a 4-day/4-night trip the first week of Nov. I have a BLT booking and no problem removing myself from any situation that makes me uncomfortable - but I really hope it doesn't get much worse. We did spring for a VIP tour (obscene) on the Saturday of our trip because we felt crowds would be the worst that day, but we saved a lot of money doing jack-all in 2020, so for now, we're planning on the spend. Like w few other ladies here, I'm a BC survivor, and although I am safety conscious, I am doing this trip in a way I feel optimizes safety while giving me some carpe-diem.

I live in San Diego, and we've been seeing a huge influx of tourists since beginning of August, I'd guess. I keep wondering if it will decrease a bit, but I am starting to doubt it. People have sacrificed a lot this year, including (for many, as evidenced in this thread) planned vacations to Disney and beyond, and this is something feasible and safe(ish?) to do. Hoping you all have a wonderful time and regain some of the joy left in this year!

Voted other - because this is more “old school” Disney which excites us. No FP+ and all the extra planning involved. which leads to a less structured trip and allows for more spontaneity. Less criss-crossing parks to make FP+ reservations passing by rides the kids want to ride and not understanding why we can’t ride then. Without FP+, we are thinking the lines will move constantly like the old days, less standing in one place for long periods of time (hopefully) in the “stand by” line which to us makes the wait seem less. Anyway, never thought we could do “old school” Disney again. Also the last two trips we did the “free” Disney Dining Plan and to maximize the plan we made ADR’s which always seemed to be scheduled a couple hours after we were hungry, making the kids (and adults) hangry, but not wanting to snack early and spoil the appetite, of course this one we could have not done, but by not offering the DDP makes this easier to forgo. Anyway on the FP+ not being offered, I know we are in the minority, but that was our deciding factor.

We planned this trip last December and rented DVC points so we could go to the F&W festival. We already cancelled 3 WDW trips this year and finally felt like we might as well try to go and just enjoy the resort if we felt uncomfortable with the crowds in the parks. This year has been brutal on our family as my husband lost his mother to COVID. I've spoken with my doctor about this trip and as long as we wear masks, wash our hands frequently and practice safe social distancing then we should be ok. I'm ready to go back to our happy place and forget about all the heartache from this year.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. I hope your trip is healing and happy for your family.

I decided not to make my October trip a few weeks ago. The DVC rental company was able to re-rent my non refundable reservation, someone picked it up immediately and I received full credit for a future trip. Just wasn’t feeling excited enough about it with all that is going on now.

I just decided to go in November with my youngest ds (4). It’s been an extremely hard few months and I need to get out of my house. I’m leaving dh and two older ds at home for school reasons but also for my sanity. I’m looking forward to some time with just one kiddo and he’s at a great age to not know what we’re missing. We’ll just do whatever he wants and take our time. I’m so excited to not have to plan meals and fastpasses and be on a schedule.

“Disneyland refugee” Lol That is so funny and sad at the same time.
:rotfl:
I read that Gov. Newsom was going to send a group to Disney World to check out how things are doing there. It may be that he would be willing to reopen the theme parks once he sees how Disney World has taken every precaution. He has gotten a lot of grief for keeping them shut down. I think its a little overkill. I mean Nancy didn't wear a mask when she was bamboozled by a hair dresser and tricked into getting her hair did. She didn't get sick 🤣

I voted that it was a rescheduled due to COVID trip. But, I go a few times a year. We missed a March and a May trip. I generally go every October or November, but did not have this one actually booked until we did the reschedule.

Why now: Because my annual pass will expire on December 17th and I was pushing this as far out as I could, hoping for good news on the virus front. We'd originally booked for August, the original end of our pass and were able to shift our DVC points. Now we've waited too long to get the points back, the airfare is a credit I've moved several times not (there was a trip last April that got cancelled, then rebooked, then rebooked again...). I'm worried but within reason. If it seems crowded we'll stay back at the pool. We'll wear masks, hand sanitize, and order groceries. But if I'd like to get some more time out of my AP I've got to go before Xmas.

Was not sure what to put it under, but I have use or loose points, so I am using them (DVC). Was not "Already Scheduled", but the points still must be used.

Family trip has been scheduled for end of November-beginning of December since March, celebrating my nephew's 10th birthday while we are at the parks. We hemmed and hawed for months if we should cancel. My sister and her whole family had covid back in March (no one was hospitalized, thankfully, but my sister was much more ill than the flu). I am a healthcare worker in need of a break after the extra stress at work and the lack of travel over the last year (4 trips canceled, mostly conferences, one was a trip of a life time to Japan I spent over a year planning). So we decided to keep our Caribbean beach stay, since Disney is our happy place. Even if we don't do much in the parks, it will just be nice to be together and be away from home and enjoy a little magic.

Hope you get to redo your Japan trip. We have been hoping to go in 2022 for a while now. Have a relaxing trip.

We had a trip planned for March...the week everything shut down. So we had flight credit we had to book by September...had some DVC points to use...but unfortunately no APs so the tickets are a bit painful to buy.

DH and I heard about the crazy low crowds so we did a quick adults-only trip back in August and it was AMAZING. Therefore, since our big European cruise and trip back in June 2020 for DHs 50th birthday was cancelled...he decided he wanted to do WDW instead. We can still visit Italy and France as planned now...just the EPCOT version. His actual birthday is on Halloween so we will spend it at the parks. My oldest son (age 20) wants no parts at all of going with us but my 78 year old FIL cannot WAIT to go. He goes on our Disney trips with us often and he doesn't seem to be concerned. We will stick to the Disney "bubble" and be as careful as possible of course. Pretty sure DH already had the 'rona back in February of this year, well before it was a known thing. Kids will be doing some virtual high school coursework while there as well, so timing worked out for that too.

Like you, we have non-refundable DVC rentals and have been planning this Christmas trip (first time there for actual Christmas, second time for the Holiday Season) for a year.

There has been a change though. It's just me and my 75+ year old parents. My father has decided it's just too risky and he doesn't feel safe going. He has rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes, so it's totally understandable. My mother, however, insists that she's still coming. She'll be celebrating her 78th birthday down there (Dec 23). She loves WDW as much as I do, and even though I told her multiple times that she can stay home with Dad (I mean...it's Christmas!) and I'll happily go solo (I'm getting my DVC $$ worth! LOL) she refuses.

So, it'll be a Mother-Daughter Birthday/Christmas trip. We know it will be different than other trips, and we're going to be very careful about masking up, washing/sanitizing hands, and socially distancing while we're down there. We'll still have fun! We always have fun at WDW!

That is so special that you can have a mother/daughter trip to WDW!
My mother and I used to do girl trips too. She is 93 now and is just now slowing down a bit. She can't do as much as before but we still have fun. Cherish each trip with your Mom! We never went to disney together, as she was never intersted in it! Have a wonderful time:)
