News Round Up 2020

Is Tron still on track to be open for the 50th? This makes a difference as to if we will book a trip then or not.

the latest from Disney is that it is still set to be for the 50th, but they haven't really provided much of an update

there was a rumor something could be pushed to 2022 (and Rat getting pushed to 2021). Personally I think most likely is Tron is ready for the 50th and then Guardians gets pushed to 2022 for EPCOT's 40th, but that is just a guess

I’m on the fence on if it’ll be ready for the very beginning of the 50th celebration. But they may push it so it is ready by October 2021.

Got my ticket and park reservation for MK on 10/1/21!!! Not sure I will renew my AP as I likely won't be back until next October. But I may apply that ticket to a new AP at that time. Just bought a one day ticket for now and will upgrade it later. Just put a contract on my first house, so trying to spend as little as possible right now!

Well, I went online to try and book for next december. Only 11 hotels were listed, and none were the ones we want to stay in......
guess we're just cancelling current trip for now..... :(🎄

None of the currently closed hotels are booking ANY reservations for the future. So you can’t book the following hotels (even for the period after 9/26/21):
All Stars
Port Orleans (French Quarter and Riverside)
AKL
BW
BC
WL

and they are starting to open some new things so there is a chance (perhaps a good chance) many/all of those would be open by next December - but if you only want to say in something specific then I guess best to wait (oterhwise you could book something at one place that you are "OK" with, and then switch if/when your preferred resort opens)

Curious, what do you mean by 'next December'? Are you looking for December 2020 or December 2021?

If you're looking for December 2020 I can't see a lot of changes being made to openings as that's only 6 weeks away.

If you're looking for December 2021 then a lot can happen between now and then!

We did the same, booked a long weekend around that time and just bought a single day ticket for everyone so we could reserve MK on 10/1/21. We'll worry about the other days of our trip later. I don't think every park will fill up for every day, but I'm sure MK will fill up for 10/1 eventually

I don’t know how quickly MK will fill for 10/1/21. Especially the AP bucket. I can’t see many APs burning one of their 3 days on a date a year out. Now the resort guest bucket could fill quicker and rooms could sell out rather quickly.

Yeah, I'm in the resort bucket right now. I might have an AP at that point, not sure. We are planning to get them in March, but that depends on a lot of things (like if they let us buy them or not)

I’m also betting they won’t open more resorts until they increase the capacity at the parks (officially). They don’t want the resort guest bucket to fill up and if they were open the All Stars and Port Orleans they would vastly increase their resort capacity. I don’t think they want the optics of having resort guests not be able to get into any parks.

Definitely not. Being able to book a resort and not get ANY park would not be a good look.
