The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

Agree, that song is INCREDIBLE! Is It Okay If I Call You Mine and Dogs in the Yard are wonderful too!

I highly recommend going to the Stars In the House show archives www.starsinthehouse.com and watching the Fame reunion shows. The first one was for the movie, the second one was for the television show. I think both aired in September.

I watched the second one last week. It was fun to watch. I loved the show when I was in my early teens. I rewatched it several years back when it was on Netflix.

The Dance Theatre of Harlem will hold it's Virtual 2020 Vision Gala tomorrow night for FREE.

"Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) invites you to join us for this special benefit to celebrate our legacy of excellence and inclusion in classical ballet, and to honor the future of DTH, hosted by Emmy Award-winning ABC News Correspondent Deborah Roberts, with appearances by 15-time Grammy-winning artist Alicia Keys, and Princeton Professor, MSNBC Contributor, and author Imani Perry."

The dancers have been safely rehearsing all this time in a pandemic bubble in upstate NY. :grouphug:

If all goes well with vaccinating everyone, the NY Governor is hopeful that Broadway can be reopened in June 2021.

Hamilton has announced they are hopefully planning to reopen on July 4th. 🤞🤞

Many other Broadway shows may delay reopening until the fall, as they really need packed houses to be viable.

I will buy tickets for at least 1 show opening weekend!

I'm hoping all the creatives have been busily creating new uplifting stories, not at all interested in all the old morose content and won't be buying any of it, I'm over being conscious laden.
It will be fun or it will be rejected

In March we had finished the load-in and were scheduled for final tech for Hamilton here in Los Angeles when we got the call to not come into work.

Nine months later the marquee is still announcing Hamilton. I'm finding it hard to grasp that it will likely be another seven months before we open.

It sure felt good to listen to the Broadway performers on the Disney sing along. I could have done without most of the celebrity performances and really enjoyed a show packed with Broadway performers and maybe even some of the park performers that have been let go or who simply aren't performing now.

Dapper Dans anyone?

Sorry for the OT response, but I was just thinking yesterday...if all goes as planned and everyone who wants it will be vaccinated by some time in June, the 4th of July is going to be INSANE!! Can you imagine?!? :yay::dogdance::sunny:

There is a special on NBC right now, One Night Only: The Best of Broadway, hosted by Tina Fey. It's a 2 hour special. Plenty left to see if you catch this post in time. And the west coast can catch the whole thing on NBC as it airs there from 8-10pm, PT. The special will also be available tomorrow on NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock.

Maybe, NBC will also have it On Demand to watch later? Or maybe clips, or the full show will be shown later on YouTube. 🤞

Performances are done by various Broadway casts, in one of the streets in NYC, as outdoors is much safer than indoors. And probably the whole cast and crew have been COVID tested before gathering together.

Donations during the broadcast will benefit Broadway Cares to help provide groceries, medication, health care, and emergency financial assistance to those in the Broadway community who are struggling through the pandemic that threatens their health and will have shuttered the industry for more than a year. NBCUniversal is also making a donation to Broadway Cares. To donate, visit BroadwayCares.org.

I saw that too. I loved her in the 1982 movie Annie. That is the one I grew up on!
If things ever get back to "normal" again at DLR, check to see if Aileen Quinn is playing in DTD. She used to play there with her band The Leapin' Lizards on the Main Stage by Earl of Sandwich. Fun times!

I was lucky enough to see her once on Broadway in a Fosse retrospective. I was too young to know who she was or her place in Fosse history. But, I do remember my eyes were glued to her whenever she was dancing.
