Since you're driving and can somewhat control when you get there, I would schedule HS on arrival day as you mentioned and even try for the Boarding Group before leaving (or on your way if already driving at 7), if you get it, check in with a cast member at RotR when you arrive and explain your situation. We had someone in here report last week that they got a BG before their flight left and was going to be in a similar situation. I never saw whether they had luck convincing a CM to let them ride.

If you are able to ride on that first day, then you could update Wednesday to be your Epcot day while keeping Saturday as another HS day. As for PH, I would be surprised if they took it away again. I think the main reason it wasn't available was the difficulty in implementing it with the park pass system and 25% capacity

2pm BG question: For those not successful at 7am, what has the success rate at 2pm been like lately? We are going on the 7th and 9th, so we have 4 total shots, just wondering since most of the discussion has always been for the 7am drop.

Thanks, GBR. That all makes sense. I haven’t been paying attention to park pass availability, but hopefully there will still be passes for Epcot the day before. In any cas, that’s probably the one to roll the dice with (for us, at least).

Epcot still has availability for today and tomorrow, which should be a good indicator, since Thanksgiving week is always busy. More importantly, it seems like its the last park to fill up. I see several days where the other 3 parks are full but Epcot is not.

2pm BG question: For those not successful at 7am, what has the success rate at 2pm been like lately? We are going on the 7th and 9th, so we have 4 total shots, just wondering since most of the discussion has always been for the 7am drop.

Without Madam Lolita from the Haunted Mansion to guide us. The 2 PM BG availability is somewhat cloudy based on the daily operation, some days are great and well others not so great.

Best choice / time is at 7 AM as the number of 2 PM BG(s) are adjusted based on the attractions performance each day.

So did I, boarding group # 102 I believe it was. Not 100% sure on the number because I hustled and removed myself immediately. I hadn't practiced since the new change because I wanted to give the new system time to work out any bugs....and not have this happen and mess up anyone in the park.

Only to report: today from Costa Rica, practicing for my trip in January, I was able to get a Boarding Group. Of course I delated it, after. But good to know I was fast enough!

Practicing from home and received a back up boarding group!!! Immediately removed myself from the boarding group . What’s happening?? I was able to delete the boarding group by clicking on “your party” which then gives you the option of removing members of the party.

Clearly having issues in their IT dept again today, I also saw reports of people's dining reservations missing (not cancelled, just couldn't see them) and other weird things happening.

Me too! Practicing at home in Massachusetts, got group 86. Not going until next April, and immediately canceled it.

I can only give you an answer based on my own experiences...
I have been to DHS 5 times since Early September. All 5 times arriving between 1-1:30pm,twice on a Tuesday and 3x on a Wednesday. I have been able to get a BP and ride 4 out of 5 times. The magic number for me seems to be 45-50. Every time the boarding number was in the 40’s and above by 2pm, I have gotten a BP. The one time I didn’t was when they were only on BP 26 at 2pm back in mid September.

I've lurked this post for awhile now and wanted to say THANK YOU all for the tips! Have been practicing at home quite a bit, but this morning was our first time trying in real life. Snagged boarding 9! So very excited!! Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

We are going to WDW in 44 days. Haven’t been in a few years so excited to see all the new things. We are staying at CBR, how fast do the boarding groups for ROTR fill up when it hits 7am, will it be hard to get in a boarding group? Also does the skyliner get you to HS from CBR in plenty of time if we got an early boarding group?
