Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

Add us in for November 28 - December 1; we have two savannah view studios at AKL Kidani! It’s the first half of our split stay trip (second half is at SSR). Last November we stayed at Jambo for a couple of nights and loved it, but we couldn’t get two suites there for our dates this time. We are excited to stay at Kidani, though! We are planning lots of balcony time and pool time.

I’m really hoping Jiko will be open by then… but happy that we also have The Mara as a choice too!

It's our first time at AKL, so we decided to try out both locations (plus a studio wasn't available for all three nights ) Every WDW trip I have ever taken has been a split stay, so this counts too, right?

Hi everyone! Working with a DVC member who is doing his best to get one of our two rooms reserved all at Kidani, as it stands right now we for sure have a standard studio and most of the stay for my daughter's group Savannah view at Kidani 9/20-9/25! I have one question... happy childhood memory for her was getting resort mugs (we were usually ASM people) and getting hot chocolate or some other drink at the end of the day on our way back to the room. Where at Kidani can you do that? Should we plan on hiking over to the Mara daily?

We just got back from a Kidani stay yesterday, but visited Jambo also. The gift shop at Kidani did have half gallons of milk every day we were there. At Jambo you can fill your mugs at the Mara if open (not currently for lunch) or at the pool bar. Kidani you can fill them in the gift shop or at the self-fill station at the pool bar there.

I realize the regular rooms at AKL are not open and we have a room books for late August at Kidani , but, should rooms at AKL open up by then, which is a better place to stay? Advantages or disadvantages of both?

We just had our first stay at Kidani, and we said if we came back we’d try Jambo. Kidani is great, but it doesn’t have a quick service and we are quick service people! You can take the shuttle over pretty easily but it would be more convenient to be at Jambo if that’s a concern.

...Brandi, thanks for updating this for us....I sure wish it was open already, because I are staying at the Gran Destino in about a month, instead of Jambo House....

....personally, I prefer Jambo House over Kidani, although the pool area at Kidani is probably way cooler for the younger set. However, that pool isn't as easily convenient as Jambo. Overall, Jambo has a little bit more to choose from....

Jambo is the original resort. It has both DVC (currently open) and regular hotel rooms (not currently open).
Kidani is the second resort and is all DVC.

Headed down this Saturday! We will be in a Jambo value studio for 1 night (5th) and then we move to Kidani savanna view studio for 5 nights (6th-11th). We are very excited, although a little nervous on the dining situation right now. My daughter saw something online about the night vision goggles - are those even still an option right now?

Staying at Kidani in a couple weeks. Anyone know what time the 1st bus tends to arrive for AK with a 8:00 opening? And any experiences getting to the bus stop super early but still not getting on 1st (or 2nd) bus?

Really hope they start to increase the capacity on buses.

At Jambo this morning it was about 6:50am. We were one of the first buses to arrive as I was 4th in line for flight of passage. If you want to be super conservative I'd get down there at 6:30 but 6:45 may work out.

There's no estimate on the screens at that time.

Storing groceries that I buy before 4pm?

i know this is a bit off topic - I am flying in the night before we stay at AKL-Kidani. I am renting a car & plan to grocery shop in morning of our check in.

Will bell services store my perishable foods before our room is ready?

We have done that in the past, hopefully they still do it. Make sure your perishables are in separate bags and labeled. The non-perishables can be stored with your luggage. (also label in case they get separated from your luggage)
