So, everyday I've been playing the Southwest game and so far, nada.

At least give me 50 points!!!!!! Getting tedious.
It is tedious, especially since we know the outcome is determined before clicking any of the suitcases. I’m playing for 5 people daily so have clicked on 15 suitcases a day all week and have won 2x 50 points and 1x 100 points. I’m learning my family’s phone numbers better though so maybe that’s the main thing I’ll get out of this. Lol

Not sure what to do re the Schwab plat. I’d planned to apply later this year. Just finished the Brilliant MSR so ready for a new card. Also the 10x MR for groceries on my plat is now over  and 5x UR on my freedom is almost over  . I was going to try for a chase biz card for this summer but now I don’t know. Also still “need” my own BBP, but that is credit not charge I believe right? And I already have 4 Amex credit cards (2 biz, 2 personal). Would that change the order I apply for the Schwab plat and BBP if I want both or does it matter?

Someone posted earlier that SW sends you an email letting you know if you won, that you don't have to click on the suitcases. I get the emails as soon as I click enter and play.

wouldn't it be fun if that new CSP bonus was matched?:rotfl2: I mean just wow...... I've never seen this before....I guess I'll stop thinking greedy thoughts and be happy with my 80k+$50 free grocery offer

That's $50 more than I got last November. I'm trying to get the credit card wary son and daughter to app when it comes available for referral. But, so far no go.

Mine auto fill as soon as I type the first letter of my first name - well after I click the hyperlink - I think that's what it is called.

I know my son has a SW account - maybe I'll play for him.

I don't get the email immediately. There's a small delay. But, I use the login in the email to speed up the process.

Is this just for DEN, or is it everywhere?

Still hoping to find something at O'Hare.
I was referring to DEN only; the Timberline restaurant in Terminal C exited PP pre-pandemic.

ORD didn’t have any PP or Centurion lounges when I’ve looked before. If you’re flying UA Polaris I believe there’s a lounge, and I’d expect AA to have one since that airport is a hub. But I think you’d have to fly J or F or have the right AA cc for access. ORD is a strange wasteland for lounges given it’s a hub for two airlines.

ETA: Never mind! I clicked on a different page and see it ends 7/14...too late for me.

Any guesses as to how long the 65,000 Chase SW signup bonus might last? I got my last bonus 7/19/2019 so I can't apply yet. I don't want to cancel my current card in preparation for applying next month if the offer is likely to go away before then. I haven't ever paid attention to how long these stick around. Thanks!

Would you still be under 5/24 after the Schwab? How disappointed would you be if the cashout went away or decreased to 1 cpp? If you're on the fence anyways, then no big deal. But if you would be kicking yourself, then I'd get the Schwab now. If it does take you to 5/24, then that's a harder choice.

Correct, the BBP is a credit card. Amex went back to 5 cc limit, so you can get it without canceling any cards.

I've seen on this board that often the support links work after the official end date. You never know for sure, but something to think about.

I will definitely get P2 a CS Preferred at that bonus.

Will it ever show later for support? I would not be able to support but would help someone....just wait and see? We don't need it right away since only about halfway through current MSR on another card.

it should come out within the next week or 2. i see a lot of affiliated links out already...

Hi! My DH and I are in spitting distance of being empty nesters and we're looking forward to traveling more. We have been SWA card holders for years and get 2-3 free tickets a year (which has been great when the kids were young and we were flying across country to visit family) but now we'd like to fly in a little more comfort and also visit more exciting destinations. I'd really like to learn more about travel rewards cards and how to make the most of them.

Credit Cards opened in the last 2 years:
Me:
07/20 - Williams Sonoma

DH:
08/19 - Citi Simplicity
04/21 - AMEX Delta Skymiles

2) Specifically - what you spend, and what you want to earn!
  • We charge almost everything to our credit card and pay if off every month, roughly spending around $5K/month
  • We typically fly out of BWI on SWA but we'd like to start flying on a less 'cattle call' like airline
  • Rewards programs we currently have...70K at SW, 40K at Delta, 20K at Marriott
  • We are very interested in traveling in Europe in the next year or so. DH, DD25, DD20, DD17
Our credit scores are 820/769

Thanks for any advice and let me know if you need more info :)

So after I already have 5 Amex credit cards I can still apply for the Schwab? I know it doesn’t count towards your five but don’t know if it matters when applying for a charge card. I’m currently 4/24 for chase and my next card won’t fall off until December

I apologize for the brief answer, but in your situation I would look at the Chase Sapphire Preferred or the AMEX Platinum Card. Sapphire Preferred has an all time high 100k sign up bonus right now. The Platinum card also has an amazing offer right now. You may be able to use card match, or AMEX’s prequalified tool to pull up the 125k MR offer for their personal platinum.

I am hoping to book my flight this month to Hawaii. I have been planning to fly out Wednesday, stay 10 nights, and fly home Sat. We will fly Jfk-Hnl so if we fly home Sat it will be Sunday when we get home.
Should I switch it to fly home Friday(getting home Sat)? It stinks to lose another day in Hawaii but maybe it will be better to have a day to recover before heading back to work and school. Plus Friday flights are much cheaper.

While I always want to add days to our vacation, coming home on a Sunday makes it really hard for everyone on Monday (and the rest of the week). One exception is if it's a really, really, really relaxing vacation, which Hawaii can be, but even then it just makes for a more stressful week IMHO.

Thanks so much for your reply. We are on UA in J, but I believe they specify international only and this is just a domestic flight. Seems ridiculous, so I was trying to find an alternative. I just assumed that that large of an airport would have a lounge.

I remember Timberline - DD and her friends had a great meal there on our cards when they were in DEN. Is there nothing like that in ORD?

Welcome!

I'd say go with either Chase or Amex for points. You can book most airlines with their points and it will give you more flexibility since you won't be tied down to just one. With the new 100K CSP offer, I think it's a great time to get one. It's also handy since it has no FTC. My personal preference is for either an Amex Plat or a CSR for traveling abroad, but between the SUB and the lower AF the CSP is a real winner right now.

Don't get an AU card for your spouse and then you can get more cards. There are different ways to turn those points into flights to Europe. In the past few years we have used credit card points (sometimes Chase, sometimes Amex) to get lie-flat business class seats to Europe on 4 different airlines.

Hope this helps.

It doesn't matter. The Schwab will just go towards your 10 charge card limit. There are velocity rules for credit cards (1 in 5 days and 2 in 90), but they don't apply to charge cards. So you can do BBP first then Schwab or vice versa, however close you want. There is a rule that you can only apply for the same card every 90 days and the system counts the regular plat and the Schwab as the same card. But since your 10x is over, I'm guessing you're already past that.
