Seems like you don’t still need magic bands, correct?

Apologies for the basic question. I have done a bunch of searching on Magic Bands and there are lots of threads about using old magic bands, magic bands being faded, swapping magic bands etc but I have a more basic question.
from what I have read it looks like you no longer need magic bands to get into and around the park. If you have your park reservation and your tickets all loaded onto the Disney app you can just use your phone and tap to get into the park. Is that right? Every you tube video I have watched like even current ones, looks like just about every person entering the park is tapping their hand when they go in. Can someone please confirm whether I need to get magic bands for or not?
thx in advance.

You don't need a MagicBand but if you have old ones you may wish to use those or, purchase a new one. MobileMagic is part of MyDisneyExperience (MDE) app and you can use that too but currently it's uses are limited. I still plan on using a MB as I can charge, etc with it and those options aren't on MM yet. I also find it easier to tap my wrist to enter my room as opposed to getting my phone out and using that.

You got it. No need to wear or buy a Magic Band (and they aren’t free anymore).

I still use the hard plastic ticket (replaced my paper one last year). No dead battery issues.

App on phone - I’ve read you don’t even have to turn on the phone to use it for entry.

As I understand the current choices, you can enter a park using one of these 3 methods........magic band/phone app/Disney plastic ticket.

Is the phone option available now for all phones? I thought it had only been rolled out for iphones so far. Maybe I missed others.

This may be an obvious question for some but....I have old Magic Bands. How do I get my upcoming trip tickets etc. on them?

I bought MB this year and as long as they stay priced relatively low I will do so going forward for the convenience. Barring that, I would probably go back to the card instead of using my phone. I'm too clunky trying to whip out my phone in those instances. Refresh my memory, can you use the cards for room purchases?

As long as you did not deactivate them, older Magic Bands will still work on any upcoming trop. Check them in your My Disney Experience account.

My phone will not stay charged if I use it throughout the day. I plan to use MB or cards for as long as those remain viable.

Do you actually turn your phone off during the day? Or is it just in sleep mode? If just sleep mode, using it to enter the park will no affect battery life.

I use it throughout the day to:
Take photos,
Check wait times,
Mobile order food,
Text family.

When you think about it, Disney WANTS you to use your phone. The problem is many (most?) phones cannot last throughout a long day at WDW.

I stick one of those portable lipstick-size phone chargers in my fanny pack. Would be impossible to get through the day without it for all of the above reasons.

But I also use a magic band. Helpful for buying things around the park without having to dig out a credit card, and it's great to have at the resort for pool time since I often leave my phone in the room for swimming.

Can you still just get a plastic card room key and use that? Our tickets are all linked in the MDE account so I was hoping that we could just get a room card similar to the old KTTW cards that they used before magic bands and that would work.
