State of Fast Pass Return (or replacement)

It doesn't seem like that would be in the realm of knowledge of the posters here. What we are getting are some reports of what is going on in tech. The odds you are asking about aren't decided at that level. Seems like any "green light" would come from the executive main offices. The execs say "give me options", the department does their best to provide "options".

Doesn’t hurt to ask. :)

Fair enough. But Remy has been making some guesses in recent days, and I was just asking what his current guess is given his new information.

The decision is indeed made at a higher level, though once they make a decision, Finance has to approve it and IT has to implement. So they tend to know time frames well ahead of anyone else. That being said, and Apologies in advance, some information passed my way I can't post. Exact dates or what exactly the system being tested are the kinds of things I wouldn't say even if I knew. And whereas I was leaning to they would do fp+ in the interim, a successful test may change my mind.

What makes you believe that paid FP would be any help? That would only occur if the FPS were limited in number to less than the normal FP lines pre-COVID. If they extend the FPS to the normal number, there would be just as long FP lines, as usual. Folks who are there for that once in a lifetime trip, would gladly pay for the FPs. It is only those who are used to having them as a freebie that will be mad (myself included.) When everyone pays for a benefit, it no longer becomes a benefit, it becomes the status quo (which is what Disney accountants are hoping for). It falls in line with the no new annual pass sales. Disney is looking for the one time visitor who is going to pay an enormous amount of money for that 1 trip. They believe they have pent up demand and so they are going to soak us with every charge they can get away with under the guise of making up for COVID losses. Then they are going to keep those charges permanently.
My hope is they limit the amount that are available. I don't see the point in going to all the trouble just to monetize FP+.

I'm sure Elsa (the storm) did contribute to reasonable wait times during the holiday. I wonder if the park every even reached capacity. With the decent cancelation policies at the hotels I'm sure some people panicked and canceled although, I feel like rainy days are some of the best Disney days as long as the weather passes within 1-2 hours, it cools down and it makes the parks less crowded. As far as fast passes, if they are managing wait times right now due to reduced capacity I feel like they would wait as long as possible to bring FP's back. Why rush through it when the newest FP's could be in place for awhile. I also don't know when genie is going to be in use so maybe they are waiting on that. I wouldn't doubt they will add some FP for purchase, I know they will have to recoup money in every way they can.
I’m here now and I don’t consider these reasonable wait times. I would say the only time it was reasonable was yesterday morning at Hollywood Studios up until 11am. Then multiple rides started breaking down, Elsa was no longer a threat and the sun came out. We had finished most of what we wanted to do by that time (although we skipped some of the big attraction) but were stuck there an extra couple hours waiting for our ROTR boarding group which was supposed to be called around 11:15. But of course it broke down and we weren’t called until 1:30. We then snaked around that line for about another hour because of all the earlier groups that came back. We are basically piecemealing our attractions across multiple days to get them all in. What we used to be able to accomplish in a half day, we are now spreading across multiple full days because the lines are too long.

Sigh...time to go dig out that guest recovery email with the comp FP’s. It’s worth a shot.

Thanks again, I really appreciate the information.

I have given up hope as well. July 31 is our last day too. >:(
After having to cancel our trip in July, and having to eat my DVC points, I was so looking forward to this year's trip starting on July 28th. I just can't fathom how the powers that be will allow the whole summer to pass with increasing crowds and waits without implementing some FP solution. If they don't do it soon, I guess we summer guests are screwed. We had FP and FP+ down to a science. For the 21 years we have owned, we have never waited in long lines; this trip will really test our love for Disney.

As you have consistently said. But why does it matter to you? You don't even go to Disney World anymore. I'm not trying to attack you. I'm just trying to understand your motivation for the relentless and consistent hatred for Disney and fastpass comments. It's amazing to me see some of your posts on a Disney forum. I don't go on to Six Flags forums and complain about their parks even though I absolutely hate them. So answer honestly. If you cannot stand Disney this much and you hate fastpass as much as you do then why are you here?

It does matter to me cause if the limit the availability and charge for it, it is something that would make want to go back to Disney. Having a paid version with limited access is how I enjoy going to parks. I don't want much planning involved to enjoy a park.

It's the new one. It's still a ways off because the other 2 programs it needs to be able to work with haven't even been able to work with it in the test environment. Unless they decide to roll it out sloppy and piecemeal. Which wouldn't surprise me

As others have said... thanks for the info !!

Yeah, I think the "Everything is better with no FP" crowd has mostly gone quiet. :) I personally will be canceling my September trip if there isn't a solution in place before then.

Holy guacamole guys. Ugh starting to wish we could cancel :guilty:

Definitely not looking good.

Between the holiday week and the storm though, I'm not sure how much I would rely on this week's wait times as an indicator. I am very interested to see the next couple weeks however, because that could potentially force action.

Thank you as always for the info. Hoping we find out sooner than later.

I guess. Personally I'd rather plan out my day if it allowed me three attractions per day because I knew how to use my time effectively. Enter the parks early in the morning and walk on several rides before the crowds arrive, go to lunch, use my free fast passes after lunch and then meander around the parks riding what I could with low wait times. It's not real complicated and it doesn't exactly make me have to plan every moment of every single day every day of my trip. I'm effectively only planning out about 4 hours a day.
