HS Rise of Resistance movíng to standby on September 23!

Rope drop looks even more important now doesnt it? Or those evening Deluxe guest extra magic hours.

Currently there are no evening deluxe extra hours for Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom. It is just MK and Epcot.

The 30 minutes extra hours in the morning will build up a huge line for RoTR though, so non-resort guests will start with a 2-3 hour wait.

I'd like to see them expand the VQ to allow groups to form and then join the VQ lottery the day before. That way you don't have to wake up early but can join in. if you don't get your VQ at 7am you can switch to another park right away (if available) or keep it and just slow roll your morning waiting to see what happens at 1pm.

It would remove the speed and tech-savy requirements that exist today and allow those who aren't 16 with gaming reflexes to join with less stress.

I see your point. I might disagree on it not being about luck, though. Something gone in seconds means even people who are ready and prepared get shut out. Even just slower internet could get you blocked out. I feel it was probably a combination of skill and luck, but of course it’s just my opinion!

There are definitely factors that could increase or decrease your ability to get a boarding group, is that luck? We could probably go back and forth on whether it is luck or not :)

Regardless, I will definitely miss this method!

I love how they keep saying “we heard you and made these changes.” Sure, let’s be real, they’re making changes that work better for them. Either their IT couldn’t handle it or this will make them more money. I don’t see this as a benefit for the customer at all.

They were slowly improving the system, they had just launched a change that let you pre-select your party before 7am so you didn't need to stop at that step and could get a BG faster.

I think that the systems were handling it just fine - although I question whether or not their systems would be able to handle the load of Individual Attraction Lightning Lane passes at 7am and then also Ratatouille and RoTR.

Ratatouille as far as I know will still be on the Virtual queue system when it opens on October 1st.

It is hilarious how they preface every crappy change with we're listening to your feedback and "reimagining" a solution that is worse or will cost you money to solve a problem.

I think genie will start on or close to Sept 23.
For people who think 4or 5 hrs is too long---sadly it will be longer.

That's what I'm getting from this announcement ... we at least know that Genie will probably go live around the 23rd. I'm thinking ~ 9/26 or 9/27. It gives Disney a few days including a Saturday for guests to see the RotR lines really build, and then they can drop the Genie+ safety line

See, I think people would have bought the LL access regardless since so many wouldn't get a boarding group. I don't see it as an attempt to get more people to buy it - people were ALREADY going to buy it!
I mean, people would have howled when they devoted 90 or 95 percent of capacity to the paid access and like 5 percent to virtual queues or whatever they were going to do, so this just gets rid of that. Harder to notice when they let in 20 lightning lane people for every one standby or whatever they’ll do to ensure that the standby line is super long to maximize lightning lane profit.

Imagine if the line is 6 hours long ... you get a DAS at 3pm, your return time is right before they close at 9pm ... Or once they start closing at 8pm, do they just turn you away?
What does DAS do now when it’s close to close? If park closes at 9 and it’s 8:30 and you as for a return to time to slinky dog dash that has a posted 90 minute wait, what do they do?

We missed out at the first drop (back when it was 10 AM and you had to be in the park along with everyone else at WDW - or so it seemed). We got one at the second drop but then were stuck waiting around long after we normally would have gone back to the hotel for a midday break. It was a hot, crowded day and we were pretty much over HS at that point but had no choice but to stick it out if we wanted to ride Rise.
We got a late one like boarding group 82 when all that was available was the 7 a.m. drop. We went and done our things, ate lunch at SciFi, took the skyliner back to Riviera and took a siesta. My daughter and I watched the boarding groups from the room. Took the skyliner back and got there when they were loading 75. We walked around a little, rode the ride then went back to the Riv to take my grandtinker swimming. Worked OK, but if we would have been over at an MK resort it would have been a no go for us.

Yeah I'm not sure, probably a good question for the DISabilities forum I guess?

I have mixed feeling about this. We always got a boarding group, even when I missed the 7am drop I was still able to get the 1pm one. We have never got an early one. Always late in the day. The last one we got called for we almost missed. We had rode everything that day so we went to Baseline Tap House and the one and only table inside was vacant so we sat and let the kids order a charcuterie board and pretzel while me and the wife accidentally got drunk because the beer was so strong lol. Rise was just a little bit better that time.

Not just that, but they have also been operating the rides at reduced capacity, inflating wait times a little during slow season as well.

People dont realize that yes, a paid system may have been inevitable, but a dishonest system wasnt necessary.

So is there going to be a standby line, you pay for Genie + to get in the lightning lane or pay the one price to get on it?
It will be Stand-by and IA$ as your two options after the change. G+ will not be offered on RotR.

I never understood why for virtual queue disney didnt just open the registration at 7am everyone gets 30mins or an hour or something to register, they then randomly pick people who registered and then assign them a boarding group, that way it isn't fastest finger first and gives more people hope.
