Return of Crowds

When does everyone think crowds will be returning to WDW?

My thought is that the first week of Oct will be bumpin, but will cool right back down after. Numbers are coming down in Florida, but I think a lot of people have already cancelled their trips

International travel is going to be opened again to those who have been vaccinated starting in November - not sure if that allows for children as well? That would make a huge difference. If you check for hotel rooms on property starting in November - possibly before that, I haven’t checked - they are hard to come by. I tried to add a day to my trip in early November and it was slim pickings.

we are headed down in mid Oct, and hotels seem to be pretty available, not sure if that leads to less crowds

Not sure anyone can do any better then guess at this time. We have never had to recover from a global pandemic in our lifetime. Those who still think covid is already behind us or was never a big deal to begin with will continue to go on vacation as though things are back to normal. Others will likely continue to be in a 'wait & see' mode to see how things continue to progress in the months ahead. Those who lost their job or business due to covid are probably less likely to travel due to their financial situation regardless of their view of how things are progressing.

We are looking to visit the week leading up to thanksgiving (checking out the day before thanksgiving). We can’t find one room at a Disney resort.

I would guess we'll start to see numbers climb over the next week due to the upcoming 50th Anniversary celebrations that begin in just 9 days. After that I don't anticipate a dip based on resort availability and the number of people who delayed their trips until the 50th.

This also follows normal trends. September is one of the lowest crowd times traditionally and then builds quickly after that.

I was pleasantly surprised that I could add an extra day at the end of our reservation next week. Haven’t been able to do that in years. Added less than 5 days in advance of check in with no problem. Unbelievable!

We are here now. Big difference in crowds from last week to this week. People are definitely returning.
Is it raining constantly?

Although we already have our trip planned for November, I am now even more excited because my daughter (9) will likely at least be partially vaccinated. I imagine once that cohort is able to be vaccinated and boosters rolled out, you will see a lot of people returning...late Fall/early Winter. I know that it seems pretty packed for our Thanksgiving week.

My husband said a co-worker of his was there a couple of weeks ago and said it was very crowded.

We will be there 9/25 - 9/29 and I just looked at resort availability. Everything that is open still has availability for those dates, so I'm not too worried. Obviously there are locals and people who stay off site, but I was surprised to see so many options.

While this year may be different, historically, with Halloween parties and F&W in full swing, October tends to be quite busy. With the 50th celebration starting, I don't expect to see much of a drop off after the first week. We are going later in the month, so hoping I'm wrong.

I anticipate a big dip after October. Yes September is a lower crowd month but it's never this low. I think all the pent up travel demand is over and will be for awhile. I personally think the whole travel industry is in for a rude awakening. Travel will be down for a long while. While international travel will resume come November there is still lots of loop holes to go through to travel.

We are traveling the week after Thanksgiving. I had to look up resorts today and I was surprised that there is so much more availability then even a week ago. I don't know if this means less crowds or people have moved to offsite given the rack rate pricing.

I think that travel bump from the summer is over, along with the pent up demand.

I agree, what i keep coming back to is, why does anyone have to be at Disney for the 50th month, i can understand Oct1st, or that first week, but what does the month matter?. Based on the hotel availability I'm seeing, i think A LOT of people canceled (during the rise of Covid recently), and rescheduled for sometime later during the 18 month celebration. I think when you couple that with back to school for the first time in a year and a half, and parents not wanting to take the chance of going on a weeks long vacation, and potentially having to quarantine when they get home, crowds will continue to stay low. Obviously this is just my opinion, and i could be totally wrong, probably just wishful thinking
