I made a BIG mistake!

My family is coming down for vacation and invited me to join the on their Magic Kingdom day. I made my park and hotel reservations and am excited to go. Yesterday in talking to my sister I realized I made my park reservation for the wrong day. Now the day it is supposed to be for is booked. I called guest service and was put on the phone with the escalation department and both told me there’s nothing they can do. They said to try going to guest services at the gate the day of and see if they can get me in but there’s no guarantee. Has anyone had this happen? Did you have any luck at the gate? I can’t believe there’s nothing anyone can do to help the guest. The Disney magic is definitely gone for me.

Wow I guess I shouldn’t have opened this after reading the thread about manners.

But OP, I feel for you but you are in the wrong.
Expecting a sold out park to let you in? What about I all the other guests who couldn’t get in that day?

Maybe you didn’t mean it but it sounds a bit entitled.
If they make an exception for you then they would have to do it for others -and where would it end?

Upgrade your ticket to a park hopper and make your reservation for any park that has availability and then hop at 2pm to MK...in the meantime. Keep checking for any openings as other guests change their plans.

There isn't anything Disney can do, but there are ways for you to do something. good luck.

Yea you will probably get in if you check obsessively. I would probably be checking once every 15min until the week of, and then once every 10 min or less. If you have a spare phone you can set it up to be left on the correct page and just any time you have a few down seconds open up, refresh 5times or so in quick succession. I am a professional shopper myself so such things are not out of the ordinary for me, but while super irritating you would almost certainly be able to find one.

You can always buy a hopper pass and hop to MK after 2pm that day. Not ideal but better than missing the entire day with your family.
I am considering that. Thank you.

Mistakes happen, don't beat yourself up over it. What I was going to say has already been said. Keep checking obsessively or add park hopper onto your tickets.

Also, I'm not sure if your hotel reservations are for on site or not, but make sure you click the buttons to check for availability for both theme park tickets and select resort hotels. There may be some availability that opens up for hotel guests that doesn't open up for just ticket holders and vice versa.

Best of luck!

I have had friends that have had luck changing their park reservation at guest services at the gate, so I would definitely try that. Hopefully, it will work out for you too.

There is no option to change it, only cancel. then you have to hope the other reservation doesn’t disappear before you get back to reserve it.
That is inaccurate. Modification is very easy. I don’t think you can do it from the app but on the website it’s no problem, no need to cancel until you have one as it will swap them out

Have you successfully got it to work? When we went in Jan I could not get the app to work in spite of the option being there. The only thing that worked was cancelling one park then rebooking another.

Possibly they’ve fixed it but if so I haven’t heard of anyone being successful. Hopefully you’re the first!

Yes I used it several times las t October and either past dec or feb. Has to be in a browser not the app. For what it’s worth I am on an iPhone and sometimes pc. Used it when getting VQ and then changing parks.
