DVC Member Cruise Sept 2023

So, for this cruise (DVC Member cruise) can you split the points/cash? Pay for 1 person points, the other cash?
Yes, but it has to be completely, i.e. pay for one person entirely with points, pay for other entirely in cash.

In the past, members were required to pay for at least one guest with points. This cruise is unusual in that it’s allowed to pay entirely with cash, no points required.

AFAIK, you've always been able to pay all cash for true member cruises. The upcoming Wish Charter (which is not a true member cruise) and any regular cruise booked through DVC required at least one passenger to be booked on points.

Pardon my naivete, but the amounts listed in those charts for points or cash -is that per person, or a total for 2 people (double occupancy)?

Also, what has been the nature of the type of daily gifts that members receive on these cruises?

Per person
Wow--so using the chart shown in reply #15 on p1-for the first stateroom listed (11c) the points are 358 or$2911.

So does that mean it would require 716 points (358 x2) or $5822 to book for 2 people?

Yes. As already stated, Member Cruises are expensive.

That was to be in June. That’s an expensive time for DCL.

I did not read through the entire thread or maybe I misunderstood which cruise you are referring to but It is my understanding from reading the information on the DVC website the 2023 Member cruise can be booked with points a combination of points and cash and or ALL cash. I apologize if this has already been addressed

  • Due to the unique nature of this special event, Disney Vacation Club has waived the policy of requiring at least one passenger to sail using Reservation Points. If Members would like to pay by using both cash and Reservation Points, individual passengers must be paid for by using all cash or all Reservation Points.

The cash price sounds about right, but if you take the average $20 per point that people are paying to rent points, that would be the equivalent of over $14,000 for 716 points.

Unless someone had a ton of non-bankable points to burn from a loaded resale contract, who would not just pay the cash option and save $9000???

Can't use resale points on a member cruise.

I have more questions on the upcoming DVC Member Cruise 2023. So, I haven't been on a DC since 2001, so bare with me. So.. Which category of OV Verandah should I try to get in 22 days when I call? I know they have 5A, 5B, 6A,6B, etc... Is there a difference in size/price? If so, what is the size. Due to The Wish not sailing just yet, not much to go on. I have seen the DCL website, but they just show the deck plans, and not any "specifics" of the room...

Thanks for helping out deciding!

@deerh I think you have to decide on front, back, midship. Then how high up you want to be. i don’t know much about the Wish, but on the other ships often the lesser expensive verandas could have a solid white wall facing the ocean, rather than something you can see through.

I have been on 35+ DCL cruises, and we prefer mid ship including up and down. One thing we don’t like about DCL as opposed to other lines is they only have queen beds, and not the twin sized beds that could be put together as most other lines have. DCL did have the two beds, but since they were most often told to put them as one, they gave that up years ago.

Veranda rooms do have the split bath, with tub and sink in one room and throne and sink in the other. There really isn’t much difference in amenities in the cabins.

Questions?

Ok, thanks for that info. We are looking at mid ship and watched you tube videos on the staterooms/etc. We probably are looking at mid-ship upper decks. BUT, with calling DVC in 3 weeks, I want to be prepared when they ask what category of room. And, who know WHAT rooms will be left if I am on hold for 2-3 hours with DVC for the Member Cruise! HA! I guess "beggars can't be choosy!" I will be happy to get a room on the Member Cruise!!

Since you have 35 cruises under your belt, how long is the wait for the DVC Member Cruise on phone? Also, how much should I expect as to "DVC swag" to get? My DW and I are thinking of driving to PC, b/c I have heard/read/watched people get a whole suitcase of stuff? True or not? If we fly down, we would have to have 4 suitcases! 3 with clothes, 1 for "swag"... Any truth or thoughts as to how much stuff you get?

"swag'..... Something every day. Normally unique, which members sell on ebay . Many cases something is a big box, monopoly DVC themed game one year
You will be on hold for HOURS. Have your phone plugged in.

Member cruise 2018 and two in our cabin. Recently they have included a carry-on that’s large enough to hold a lot!

Maybe two hours is the most I have waited to get in with DH and I dialing. It seems to me that the last time it was easier. The call back wasn’t as soon as they said, though.

There should be a chart on the member site giving an “up to date“ report on the categories that are still available. I have been able to get inside, outside and veranda different years. For the Bermuda, there were 5 of us friends going and we had connecting cabins. We were three members, two non members, we were in three different states on the original call in date, somehow it worked, we got on.

We have deck plans, and I actually usually ask about 3-5 cabins. The CM goes back to check, and if one of those isn’t available they give me something close!

Thanks for all the responses! I do like the idea of having a deck plan for the Wish with cabins and picking 3-4-5 possible choices. Good idea!! I will find one and have that ready to go!

Also, HOLY swag!! WOW! A lot of stuff! That is so cool! As someone said, I will never sell it on eBay, however.. But, that is me!

Does asking for something like "veranda cabin, midships, lower deck" work? Or do you have to request a specific cabin number?

I think that would work. Just as they tell you to have two or three categories ready, I don’t think I ever gave them that. Maybe one category, or a number of cabins.

I know that when we wanted an inside, I didn’t have any preference. My friend wanted the least expensive. We didn’t have a split bath. It was fine, we were on the ship!
