***Official DLR July 2022 Check-in Thread***

My 5-day countdown has begun!! So excited. We're staying at DLH and plan to celebrate DL's 67th birthday (the 17th). We're a group of 3 women plus 2 friends who are going to meet us on the 17th.

We will be there from7/21-7/24. We're celebrating my daughter's birthday. It's her golden birthday of 26 as she was born on the 26th. We are both flying there to meet up as she lives in CO and I live in CA. We are staying at the DLH.

I was able to book WOC dessert party, lamplight lounge brunch and MSEP dining package at the Plaza in to help celebrate her birthday. We're so looking forward to it! Can't wait only 10 more days!

I hope everyone is having a great time! We just finished a trip without Genie+ or ILL$ where we did 20+ attractions (rides and entertainment) each day by utilizing rope drop, single rider, and closing the park, so if you are trying to figure all that out let me know and I'll be happy to help!

You can find my (not quite complete) trip report here
Yes, same, almost. Lol. I did buy ILL for RotR and RSR, but I was able to do so much without the Genie+ addon. Would have been nice for the pix, but we don't typically get in photopass lines.

We just booked a last min trip July 27-Aug 2nd, but only going to Disney 3 days (haven’t booked hotel/tickets, will decide today/tomorrow). Still looking at resorts and deciding between Disneyland (no breakfast, monorail shortened hours, no kitchenette) and Home2 Hilton (a bit far, valet parking only, next to freeway). Hotels any closer have mixed reviews in terms of noise and comfort (read about a homeless people and shady transactions).

Haven’t been to Disneyland in 8 years? Shocked to see many rides not incl. in Genie+. Hoping to take the kids to the San Diego zoo and the beach on the weekend (non Disney days).

Is there an ADR cancellation thread?

I will do a solo trip 7/17. I fly into SNA at 845 am and my flight leaves SNA at 850 pm that same day. Just a quick trip to celebrate DL 67th birthday!
You sound like me! I did that for my birthday once. Only issue was that I slightly over-imbibed at Trader Sam's just before catching my ride to the airport :rolleyes1. I underestimated the power of the tiki gods, but it was a quick flight home because I slept the whole way.

Also love your username. I figure it's probably something to do with your name, but I'm a huge Beatles fan so it made me smile. I took a trip to Abbey Road studios a few years back, pre-C.

My daughter and I will be heading to Disneyland in a couple of weeks for our annual mother daughter trip! We will be in the parks the 25th-27th.

We planned this a bit last minute and are scrambling to get dining reservations... not too hopeful, but I haven't given up yet!

You know, it's annoying when there are places you really want to go to but can't snag a reservation, or, in your case, you miss the opening of dining reservations and suddenly they're gone. If you haven't already signed up, try one of the notification services or just keep checking. I used m....d..... to try for Trader Sam's, which I'd been unable to get on my own. After 5 misses (received a notification that there was an availability but I wasn't quick enough to grab it), I finally succeeded last night! Anyway, I hate this new dining reservation "system" which is atrocious.

However, many places will take you as a walk-up, so don't despair yet. Also, there are lots of CS options that are really good these days. And finally, don't rule out DTD restaurants. I love Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen (sit-down for meals, CS for beignets) & Ballast Point. I love Hearthstone Lounge in GCH (which doesn't take reservations). Tangaroa Terrace at DLH is also a favorite.

It is frustrating... but it doesn't get us down because WE'RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!

I have notifications set at m.....d..... but I have more that I'm open to than I had space for with the free account. I have my priorities set and just check the website repeatedly throughout the day. Our one thing we really wanted was a character breakfast. I'm still hoping for a Minnie and Friends cancelation but have a Storytellers book as a back up. Everything else is more "nice to have" if you know what I mean. Oh... and I know what you mean about the notifications... I've had two for Minnie's that I've clicked on immediately and wasn't fast enough! I don't mind the checking though as it gives me something to do with my excited energy!

We love the DTD restaurants too... every one of our mother daughter trips start the same way... buying a new lanyard and blind box pins in DTD and having dinner at Tortilla Jo's where we open our pins and set up our lanyard. That's when we know our trip has really begun!

I love your attitude!! It looks like you're a pro already so sorry if I came off as pushy on the dining stuff. I'm so excited about my upcoming trip. I'm going with my best friend since high school. We've never gone together and we're not exactly spring chickens, lol.

Many of my favorite trips have been with my daughters. They all (4) love Disneyland, so lucky me! My dh does not, though he used to go when the girls were little. I went to Dapper Day with my oldest daughter and her little guy (4) last Nov and we had a blast. Went with my middle girl in June to celebrate her 22nd birthday. Now I need to get a trip with my twins (19) but their college schedules make it harder than it used to be. Anyway, here's to mother-daughter trips!! I hope you and your daughter have a FABULOUS time!

No worries! You didn't come off pushy at all! That sounds like a great trip you have planned!

That's great you go with your daughters! My dh and son will go, but once is enough for them. Clara and I can't get enough... it's our happy place! I hear you with the college schedule thing. My daughter is 20 and going into her junior year of college... it's hard to find time with school, work and friends. We always think we can't make it happen and then we plan something last minute like we did this time :-)

I have to cancel a Mickey Storyteller's brunch and a Lamplight those dates. PM me if you want to try to co-ordinate. We are still going, but we need to shift our trip a bit, we will be there July 28-29, first DL trip for us!

I have a Storyteller's but Lamplight is on my daughter's wish list! I would love to coordinate if it works out... thanks so much!! What day did you have Lamplight for? We don't have hoppers and the only day we're in DCA is the 26th.

Can I coordinate the Lamplight on July 29. How many people is this for?

We just got back from our 5 day trip! It was lovely but got busy Monday/Tuesday. Any questions just ask away!

Did you rope drop? How long before the park hours did you have to arrive?

When do you recommend lining up for Fantasmic and the electric parade (first show)

We did rope drop and it was worth it! To be at the very front I would get to the gate about 1 hour before opening.

We didn't do Fantasmic, but for the Electrical Parade there was still seating around the train station and flag pole as late at 8:15. After that it got really tight.

Did you try any walk up table service restaurants? Oga’s was one we were hoping to get but we’re a party of 5. The wait time said 25 mins at 6 pm today.

We only did a walk up at Trader Sams which said 20 minutes but it took 40. They said the online walk up wait times were inaccurate. If you plan on doing that, I would get there early and at off times. Best of luck!

When we went to Blue Bayou there were 10+ parties attempting to get walk ups at opening. They made them all use the mobile walk up feature. It did appear some got in but were seated at tables in the back.
