We love Boma I would keep that. We also enjoy 50’s PTC. Do not have much experience with the other ones. We did HDDR a number of years ago and it was ok.

I have a trip planned for September with extended family, and a family member has taken care of all the dining reservations, which is wonderful and makes my life easy! I have the option to opt out of a meal or two, which i am leaning towards for 2 reasons - reduce my overall food spending, and because i prefer to graze and snack throughout the day rather than eating a large meal in the evening. I worry that some of the buffet, family style, and prix fixe restaurants won't be worth the cost for me (personally). If there were options to order a smaller item and still tag along, i might be more inclined to keep myself on the reservation and only order an appetizer.

If i opt out of any of these, ill take some alone time to wander the parks, grab a quick-service meal or packed snacks, or relax.

If you were to pass on any of the following, which would you skip? All are dinner reservations. (purple = drop?, and blue = keep?) Would love to hear your thoughts/feedback, or recommendations!

1) Cinderella's Royal Table (Prix Fixe - $62)
2) Story Book Dining at Artist's Point (Prix Fixe - $60)
3) Boma (Buffet - $49)

4) Hoop-dee-doo Revue (Family Style - $69 for Category 2 seating)
5) 50's Prime Time (Regular menu - pricing variable)
6) Teppan Edo (Regular menu - pricing variable)
7) Trail's End Restaurant (Family Style - $29)

I am leaning towards dropping either Cinderella or Storybook dining (possibly both?), and Boma. I know the atmosphere is supposed to be great at all, and the food appeals to me at Boma. Boma will be after our Animal Kingdom day, however, and there are loads of quick service options that i'm already drooling over there.

Ps. At home i tend to eat a fairly diverse, veggie-based diet. I do eat meat, but usually sparingly. Heavy, sauce-based meals tend to make me feel sluggish and a bit gross. I'm anticipating larger/heavier meals than i am used to, and will plan accordingly (aka. packing pepto and metamucil)
Based on your list and likes/dislikes, I would skip Boma and Artist Point. You're right that there are so many good options at AK while they head over the Boma.

I voted Teppan Edo and Trails End for me personally ... Teppan Edo is a loud overpriced restaurant that is difficult to socialize in ... and nothing more than I'd find at home. Trails End and HDDR are redundant so I would just go with the fun option.

BUT if you are trying to avoid expensive prix fixe with fun wandering nearby, I would vote CRT and Teppan Edo (lack of value). And maybe Trails End as well by not going to FW, go to a park or Disney Springs or sleep.

There’s no menu at Boma. It’s all the buffet. Alternative plan, while rest of your peeps eat at Boma. You could pick up some AKL’s quick service The Mara and explore multiple animal viewing spots or hang the pool bar or Victoria lounge (the bar is above Boma). The Jambo house lobby is gorgeous if you haven’t been. Epcot is perpetually having festivals so you could skip Epcot TS and hit the festival booths.,
Oooohh. Thats an excellent plan to wander or eat at the lounge on Boma day. Thank you!

Thank you so much for the feedback! I'll be there during food and wine, so wandering around the worlds fair while skipping Teppan is a very safe bet.

Id skip teppan edo, you can find similar anywhere in the country. I love CRT for the atmosphere even without the princesses, I’d keep it. As much as I love Trails End if you do Hoop de Doo I’d skip that too. Id keep all the rest, they’re all unique places you’ll only find in Disney. I always say you can find good food anywhere but the unique and special theming that these places have can only be found in Disney.

No way my 2 picky grand daughters ( both Disney adults) would eat anything on the menu at Artist Point which is why we have never considered it.CRT was very nice the one time we did it pre covid when you got the full princess experience; too expensive now in my opinion.

Doesn’t artists point have a similar menu to CRT? I was scoping it out and it seemed to have a lot of overlap. Are the flavours a bit more intense or experimental?

I only did CRT now because I could actually afford it :rotfl2:

I would definitely skip Teppan Edo, we went in 2018 and had a dud of a chef. Food was decent but the chef was as boring as watching paint dry....and I have 3 teppanyaki style places I can go to at home.
If you're doing HDDR, skip Trails End.

My major rule of thumb for Disney dining is what can I get at home and what can I only get at Disney.

I’d skip Hoop De Do because of family style and effort of getting there if you’re not already at MK for the day. I feel like it’s a lot of $ for the style of food and service.

I'd skip CRT and Artist Point as I don't need to spend that kind of money for character dining. I'd skip Teppan Edo because I don't particularly like it. I'm on the fence about Hoop dee Doo. I've seen it before so going again wouldn't be a high priority, but it could be really fun with extended family, and spending time with family at Fort Wilderness in the Settlement area would be nice. Boma is the one buffet at WDW I love, and it's food I can't find in my neck of the woods, so I'm always willing to pay for the buffet there. The rest I'd keep, as they're reasonable and all places I like.

I view Hoop Dee Doo as a show that comes with a free meal. It was closed on our last trip, and we were disappointed. It is classic WDW and always makes us happy. For us, it's a must doo.
We've done CRT a few times, but it never really seemed worth it, even with kids. We've made more memories at Pinocchios holding up signs for the small world boats. But, everyone is different. You never know when something memorable will happen.
We enjoy the food at 50's Prime Time. Our favorite is Sci-Fi, but if we can't get a reservation there, then 50'sPT is good.
We've never been to the others.

Since you’re going with your nieces I would attend the character meals and experience it with them.

I would skip Trail Ends and Teppan Edo. You’re getting the same food at HDDR but with a great show. And Teppan Edo looks like hibachi you can get anywhere. I’ve never eaten here but the pics don’t look better than our local Benihana’s.

I'm going against the grain & saying I wouldn't skip CRT. To me, it's all about seeing inside the castle. It would be fun to see what they kids thought about it. The lack of princesses at the moment is a plus, IMO.

HDD was okay. It's a little too hokey for me, but I agree that it would be more fun with a larger group.

TE & Boma would be passes for me. I didn't come close to getting my money's worth in food & the atmosphere at both are nothing special. That said, if I was going to choose one it would be Boma, even though it's more expensive. At least, the food is fairly unique. I definitely wouldn't choose dinner at both HDD & TE.

We haven't been to the others for different reasons. I don't care for 50's shtick. Japanese Hibachi is easy to come by, so we always choose a different restaurant in Epcot. We will try SDAP, when we get a chance. Dopey is the only character I really care about seeing.

I haven’t been to Boma but it’s on our list for next time. Jiko is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere.

Having said that I don’t really love most of these options. I agree that CRT is overrated, especially without princesses. It’s great for the under 7 set, but beyond that, meh.

Prime Time seems like a disaster based on how you like to eat.

Teppan Edo just isn’t that good, nor is it unique.

I love WL so I would vote for Storybook and Boma for the locales. However given your dining preferences I wonder if you might not be happier skipping most (all?) of the dinners and using that money for a special experience with the family instead. Especially if the entire family can be persuaded to make different choices, you probably wouldn’t be that far off from a VIP tour, which would be far more memorable and worthwhile.

I'd skip Boma dinner. If it were breakfast, it would be a different story.

I'd also skip Teppan Edo but that's because we have a lot of really good hibachi locally. It just doesn't interest me at Disney.

I actually aligned with ur choices OP. Sometimes a meal is More than the food, which is why, I’d keep trails end. I like visiting the area, hitting the gift shop, we often will grab a cocktail at the bar there, rock in the rocking chairs and relax a bit. Sometimes we re inclined to grab a horse carriage ride as well. Wherever u choose, have a wonderful time making memories, my experiences with groups family etc have been Oh So Much fun, Enjoy!!
