Should I wear a dress?

If your thighs touch at all, I would not recommend wearing a dress. It seems like a good way to stay cool in the heat, but whenever I've worn a dress to the parks I was always miserably chafing by the end of the day, which defeats the purpose, IMO.

I have thick thighs but some deodorant/anti-chafe sticks go a long way. Might look awkward but makes the day bearable since even shorts ride up.

I wore a dress once on Space Mountain and felt like I was giving everyone a show getting on and off. Very unladylike, indeed. I have never worn a dress since then but if I did, I’d definitely wear biker shorts underneath.

I've always wanted to, but never worn a dress to a park however this discussion has inspired me to do so. I'm 125 lbs with zero desire to take chances with staffing so i will use bike shorts underneath.
It's been 95+ degrees every day this week so I'm willing to try anything to be more comfortable.
Thanks for this great thread ladies!!!!

I’m happy this has inspired you. Live your best dressed life.

I've never tried them, might have to give it a go. I wear longer bike shorts and they never ride up on me and are super comfortable.

I never wear anything but dresses and have never had any problems. They look to be much cooler than shorts because they fit loosely. You get used to how to sit, exit rides, etc. without a flashing issue. I carry anti-chafe sticks, but seldom use them. And yes, on the carousel, I do ride side saddle 🙂

I’ll be on the lookout for you while I side saddle a horse.

Not a choice I would make. Did it once and it's too awkward to get in and out of rides.
I think you are overthinking how much heat undershorts add- it is minimal. We just finished a non Disney vacation where we walked 30,000 steps/day in 95+ degree weather I wore dresses and skirts, One day I threw on my bike style shorts and it made things so much more comfortable! I don't know why I didn't do it every other day. So, for comfort alone don't be so set in stone that it is not an option.
Yes, there are rides where you'll have to be very conscientious entering and exiting cars.
Shorts are my personal theme park staple. Athleta ones especially.

I hope you had a great vacation. I'm going to pack some bike shorts too, just in case. I love the ones from Aritzia.

I wear dresses Almost every day vacation or not lol. I’ve never had an issue on a ride at any park. Cool n comfy and I like to dress nice n neat and enjoy being dressed when dining sit downs, each day. Have a great trip.

If you wear a long enough one you can tuck it underneath your legs while you're on the ride. I'll wear skorts and still do that.

Some of the coaster rides with the speed and turns your dress could go up. One I was thinking of was 7DMT the restraint hits your hip bone not across your lap so your dress depending on the length, fabric, and wind of that day could come up some although tucking under your legs could help.

If the dress is somewhat long and flowing, I would pull the back of the skirt through your legs and pin it in the front. Instant skorts for the ride, then unpin the skorts once off the ride. If you don't want to use a pin, maybe a button, or hook, or belt would work.

Thank you! What's the issue with SM?
I'm planning to go all out and wear a Slytherin inspired outfit for Universal: short green plaid skirt and white tank. Can you recall which rides might be problematic?
SM is a crawl out with ride on ground. I can no longer ride as much as I love it as I can get out

We can’t get out either - Space used to be out favorite MK ride! Fortunately, GotG is enough like it and has easy in and out, so it will have to substitute!

I wore dresses in the park frequently on my last visit. I do choose to wear slip shorts underneath.
Flight of Passage, Carousel, Tron when it eventually opens... Those all require you to ride like a bicycle.
I was going to suggest the same thing: I wear workout shorts /bike shorts under summer dresses. They're kinda fitted but not super tight, and -- best part -- they have a deep pocket on each leg. The pockets are big enough to hold my (large) phone. I love going bag-free.

Look on Amazon. You'll find lots of examples -- choose a shorter length.
