Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

If anyone is at the Boardwalk or in the area could you let us know if sandwiches are custom made or pre-made? Thanks!

Can you place a mobile order and tell by what options you get for modifications?
I'm thinking that they are going to be premade but that's my assumption on how they are doing things these days

ETA - playing around with the mobile order and different allergy options it's not looking positive to being made to order.

Not only are there not customization options, you can't even get chips with the grilled cheese anymore. Tomato soup only. I hate Tomato soup.
Yeah, I'm not seeing much. I looked over the allergy choices and they have a lot but appear to be premade choices too. They've tried to put something there to cover all their bases but they aren't looking flexible on what's there, if that makes sense. It's like there 1 of this and 1 of that and you like that 1 that works with your allergy work or you are out of luck.

I do wonder if the soup is one choice that they'll work with you on if you order in person. Sometimes in person does get a be more flexible with sides than the mobile order is

I would hope so, but it's annoying. I just mobile ordered grilled cheese and chips in July.

Other than maybe a scone, I'm guessing I'll be going to either YC/BC or Dolphin for breakfast. Heck the breakfast QS options at Fuel at Dolphin look better than the BW Deli and they are freshly made for the most part. Same with lunch, nothing much looked very good in the pictures to me, thankfully, I usually eat at the parks for lunch and supper so no big deal.

I was hoping my mobile order skills were rusty. lol. Thanks for checking for me.

Well, now that it's official, I definitely don't understand why Disney bothered with "closing" the bakery to open the deli. It's a menu overhaul and half of a new marquee.
I'm guessing they needed to rename the location a deli.
The fancy cake place is opening one day. A bakery and a cake place in the same area sounds odd

Ok, thank you, at least that's a reason. I don't know that I agree that they made the right call, but that gives me something to reconcile why the even bothered to mess with it.

The marquee looks wonky now because they took out a 6 letter word and replaced it with 4. Too much room between the words and there's way more space after the I than before the first B. Plus, with the alliteration, Boardwalk Bakery is a more pleasant name. Oh well.

We're going to have to talk about this, too:

"It is very much your traditional Italian sub, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing if an Italian sub is just what you’re craving

There was a pretty good amount of pesto on the sandwich, but we would have preferred a touch more."

But, but, those sentences are in direct opposition. I defy DFB to find a traditional Italian sub anywhere in the mid Atlantic or North East that has pesto!!!!!

Eta: oops, thought I was on the news thread. I didn't mean to spread the Italian sub tomfoolery over here.

We had the Ruben was really good.

The collection point and the drinks machines is a tiny space and people have to push though to fill up resort mugs and wait for food.

Dang. I was hoping the Boardwalk "Deli" would maybe have morphed into a place with more traditional quick service options. Breakfast at the Boardwalk really is a con of the resort. No Mickey waffles? No breakfast platter? I know I can walk over to the Beach/Yacht Club to get these, but I don't think a guest at a deluxe resort should have to go looking for basic breakfast items at another resort.

Oh well. Still looking forward to spending Christmas there.

wow that is incredibly disappointing........ I was hoping the sandwiches were made "on the fly" Panera Bread style. DW has a dairy allergy so can do the sandwiches without the cheese. If they aren't customizable that pretty much eliminates the entire menu for her.

We are staying at the Boardwalk for the first time in September.
When we've stayed at AK and BC, we were able to still use the pool after check out and they had a shower to use before heading off for a long travel day.
Does Boardwalk have a shower at the pool area to use after check out?

Pre-COVID, there were 2 showers in the ladies locker room in the fitness center. I showered after checking out. IIRC, I had to use my Magic Band to unlock the door. I didn't look in the men's locker room and I didn't look near the pool. I haven't been since the pandemic started so I can't give you a recent report.

Yes, there are showers by the pool area, by the fitness centre

Check-out of the room is at a set time, however all benefits you receive as a guest of the resort continue until midnight. So the magic band will work for the shower door until midnight
