Tropical threat?? Leaving in 9 days...

Recall Katrina went north through Mississippi from NOLA crossing Interstate 20 between Jackson and Meridian, MS. When we crossed the Mississippi River at Vicksburg, it was evident the power was out. Quite a bit of limbs and such on the shoulders around Meridian, but the roads were open. Gas wasn't available until we got to south of Montgomery, AL.
I'm not really sure what you are trying to say. Anyone driving towards WDW from Louisiana will be driving towards a storm, which is the opposite of what you are talking about. And you'll be north of it where there might still be pretty bad weather that isn't a hurricane per se. Katrina was a storm that hit the other direction and kept going the other direction, which is the opposite of what was asked.

My mum is sat in the departure lounge at London Gatwick ready to fly out to Madeira Beach for a 2wk vacation, so I'll be watching the local news online to keep tabs on her... she's a regular there at this time of year so has experience with storms making landfall, but still not the best vacation location this week!!!

Katrina did not hit Florida, so sure roads were open where it did not hit and going the other way. Highways are drainage for hurricanes, so I would not bet on them being open or undamaged where a storm actually goes. But your other points are very important. Big evacuations cause big disruptions in fuel supplies. Bringing your own gasoline is not a terrible idea.
You can bring your own gasoline if you have a pickup truck, but it's not safe to have it inside the vehicle (even in the trunk) for an extended period of time.

I just did one with Instacart no milk otherwise normal.
I went to Publix this morning for my regular weekly shopping. Water was low, but everything else was well stocked. I already have my hurricane supplies, but I didn’t see any empty shelves . . . with the exception of potatoes. The whole potato section of the produce department was empty. I doubt potatoes are a hot commodity during hurricanes though. I was picking up the important stuff - the junk food to eat while the storm goes through (especially chocolate), and my normal butter, cheese, tomatoes, etc. While I wouldn’t rely on grocery deliveries this week, it might be worthwhile to Uber to a store and pick up what you need. The scant food offerings available on property will run out quickly and be more expensive than a grocery store, and there are several stores close to WDW.

We did our Publix run yesterday. No water at all. Milk was running very low. Everything else was fine. Deli was stocked which surprised me as I figured that would be the first kind of stuff to go. Junk food was stocked and readily available. Did the gas run yesterday and no lines yet.

And a day or so later than previously forecast. Hard to know what effect it will have on air traffic.

Exactly. Now my concern isnt getting there but coming back. We’ll know more today/tomorrow

Milk shelves were fully stocked at my store. I have canned milk on hand to cook with, but debated getting some fresh milk and eggs. I decided to wait until after the storm to get both. I also decided to wait on meat, trying to minimize what could be lost if power goes out. I did the gas fill up for Fiona when the early tracks showed it coming closer to Florida than it did, and I haven’t driven five miles since it was filled, so it’s still on full. The only thing I have left to do is check the mail late Monday/early Tuesday and then I won’t check it again until after the storm. We have those neighborhood mailboxes you have to drive to, and I won’t be taking the car out starting Tuesday.

i booked the red eye for wed morning crossing my fingers and taking my work laptop.

I mean just looking at the cone and times for it I would think Wed should be fine for flying - good luck!

Flirting around with idea of moving flight home to KC from Orlando from late Wednesday night to earlier Wednesday- think that would get out ok? Also think they will have MNSSHP Tuesday?

my flight was supposed to land at 6pm now its landing 1130 something I think before noon is best but im also taking a risk it has been slowing down. I told my wife if I get delayed a day an import Disneyland trip is in order :)

Put succinctly, the major roads will be open within 12 to 24 hours AFTER the storm passes, especially Interstate 10 from Houston to Jacksonville, assuming no bridges are compromised. Gasoline supplies likely will be a problem near the storm areas, due to power outages.

I'm flying into MCO late tomorrow night instead of Wednesday morning. I was able to snag a BWV studio for the additional two nights. We will be cramped for those nights, but I think my cousins first Disney trip could turn out to be great with low crowds. We have a suitcase with wine, water, mac n cheese bowls, and snacks. If they cancel MNSSHP for Thursday I'm hoping they will have enough cancellations for the Friday or Sunday party to get us in then. We will see...crossing our fingers for a good trip!!

I was supposed to fly in from Houston Friday morning. Given Ian still won't have cleared the gulf by that time, I'm assuming my flight is going to be delayed. Hopefully not canceled completely. I was supposed to do Epcot, discon, and MNSSHP all on Friday. Would Disney refund my single park ticket for Friday?

That’s not hurricane related, there’s a national potato shortage due to incredibly hot temperatures in Idaho this summer and a lot of crop failures.

Just arrived from the Midwest. Originally was scheduled to fly out Wednesday evening, but switched to a 9 AM flight instead. I’ll miss a half day of my conference instead of risking being stuck another two days in case it hits hard late in the day.

Have you flown with wine and water before? Seeing the way suitcases get tossed around, I'd be scared of leakage.

I just spent my morning pushing our trip back 5 days. We were scheduled to fly in Thursday, however this morning AA sent me an email offering to change our flight for no charge. I took that as a sign. Fortunately I was able to move all my reservations (including dining 😀) out to Oct 4-9. We are grateful we were able to make it work and didn’t have to cancel outright.
