Chapek out - Iger back

Thats where I do wonder if a hybrid approach could make more people happy - something similar to how DAS Advance works now maybe?

For example maybe resort guests get the option of choosing 2 rides in advance. Maybe it even works like DAS Advance in that no ILL$s are allowed and certain rides which were ILL$ but are now part of Genie+ cannot be selected too (like MMRR, and Frozen Ever After). If it were limited like this - then I would hope it would be an included perk for resort guests. Make sure that capacity is limited to 50% or less of the total Lightning Lane capacity. But if it were not limited, maybe it is a paid option that resort guests only can buy Genie+ ahead of time and get this 2-ride pre-selection as a perk.

Then continue Genie+ the way it is today except make it when you scan into the park?

I'm just thinking of ways to help satisfy a larger percentage of park goers :) Sure adding an onsite perk will make local APs and ticketed guests who won't get the onsite perk unhappy, but it would at least provide more options.
I would cap it at 30% of LL capacity but it's not a bad idea if onsite perks are needed as long as genie+ is purchased also. And you cannot book for all your days on the first day of your vacation. It should be like ADRs at DLR in that you need to book each day at 60 days out. They could do LLs at 30 days out for example so that they could be scheduled around ADRs.

The history behind FastPass, FastPass+, Genie, Genie+, Lightening Lanes and Virtual Queues is complicated.
Sometimes understanding why we got here will also predict where we are going with Genie and all the current park reservations etc.
Watch this. Well worth the time.

They're already testing alternative methods at Disneyland Paris with Premier Access (which I believe is something like $95-$197+ per person per day) and Premier Access One, which I think #1 is a much better name and #2 makes more sense.

I don't care if Disney sells a premium 1 time per ride express pass like Universal. They should and it should cost $$$. I also don't care if they want to finance a big budget attraction like Cosmic Rewind or Rise of the Resistance with a pay per ride system. Set a limit, say 3 years of $15-20 pay per ride and then it gets demoted to regular ride status and build more immersive $$$$ attractions. These are rational decisions.

However, I do care that with a $120+ per day ticket legacy rides such like Haunted Mansion or Splash Mountain now have ridiculously long queues because the Genie+ people are getting 70% of the slots. At that point, just charge us more for tickets and let us stand in line. It would be a much more efficient experience. Those rides weren't designed to be loaded like that.

Curious why not? (I really don't know much about either)
People think he RUINED the Company ….which isn’t true of course. Maybe he ruined their IDEA of the Company -like taking away free dining or something(which IMO free dining was one of the worst things that ever happened at Disney)

Are you talking about WDW? It's hard for me to believe that very few people visiting Disneyland spring for hoppers. DL and DCA are so easy to walk between that I would expect a majority of visitors to buy hopper tickets.
I think practically everyone park hops at DL (I sure do). And no, I have never in my life had an annual pass. And I never bothered with Park Hoppers at WDW as it is more of a hassle.

Not sure if most would agree that paying double (~$100 for park ticket plus ~$100 for Premier Access) would be a good idea. It would likely keep the number of people purchasing it down and provide an overall shorter Lightning Lane and as a result - likely a faster moving Standby, but my bet is most would not like this idea. With Genie+ prices going up significantly though, it could be something Disney is just preparing us for. If Genie+ prices start regularly hovering around $50 per day, they could introduce a new system and tout how much easier it will be and better for guests starting at the same price as Genie+ of $50 per person per day (but in reality that will only be for 1 day in September) with the true average price being around $100 per person per day.

Not sure Disney would go this route though, even though they're using it in DLP right now.

Another post I made got eaten...

Rather than re-type everything I wrote, will just say, I'm not sure if Disney would go this route for WDW. Spending $100 per person per day would be a tough pill to swallow for most people and while it would make the Lightning Lane short by virtue of not everyone being able to afford it - I think the optics of doing such a thing would make it really unpopular even though they're doing it at DLP right now.

Literally anything but this. I do not want to have to choose what to ride and when 60 days out. ADRs are more than enough thank you.
Exactly, that was one of the things I HATED about WDW and loved about DL. It was a level playing field at DL. WDW was completely unfair to the people who didn't stay on property. Their Fastpass+ system sucked. All the good ones were gone by the time anyone staying off property got a chance to even try (and to those that say keep refreshing the app constantly - that is not my idea of a good time at the parks). I had zero issue with Disney giving some perks to on-site guests such as early entry, extra hours, etc. But IMO, I have paid for my admission to their parks the same as everyone else, and I deserve a more level playing field when it comes to being able to get Fastpasses during their regular park hours.

I am all for keeping it that you have to be at the park to start making Fastpass (I still call it that lol) reservations. Fair for all.

Choosing the hardest 3 rides months in advance isn’t a problem for me. The time frame can get annoying but I’d rather not wait online for rides than pick 60 days out.

Personally getting up 7am everyday of my trip is the true annoyance for me

Not everyone rope drops
I never rope drop (am not there before about 10AM at minimum), and I have zero issues with people who arrive at the parks before me getting earlier return times for Fastpasses. I far prefer the first come, first served system.

So you are happy having to be up at 7am on your hard earned holiday? They need to think of something else besides people battling it out at 7am, it's ridiculous. If you are a resort guest you get to pick a couple of rides and pre book say a week before your holiday for each day? Something needs to happen to make your holiday less stressful each day. Open to ideas.
At DL you have to actually be inside a park before you can start reserving. Do people at WDW just wake up at 7AM and book their rides without being in a park? That is easy-peasy. I would love that system. I just start reserving mine whenever I wonder into DL or DCA. Never got there before 10AM.

Well, I know I'm biased because Fastpass+ was to my benefit as an on-site guest. But I will say I did and still do think it's appropriate to offer guests who are coming in from other places, or who pay the premium to stay onsite and plan an entire vacation around Disney, or who make a once a year (or in many cases, one in a lifetime) trip to WDW, the opportunity to book in-demand rides ahead of time. It's like having insurance that you'll be able to get on your priority rides and know you're getting what you came (and paid) for. I think in that way it makes sense to give that perk to out-of-towners over passholders who can come back next week, and I think it behooves Disney to incentivize resort stays in that way.
I completely disagree. I was visiting WDW from outside the country (I'm Canadian), and I always stayed off site. I paid a fortune for my admission tickets, and should have the same opportunities to book rides during regular park hours as anyone else. I paid dearly for those tickets and should get the same experience. I have no problem with them giving extra hours and persk like that for onsite guests, but during regular hours we should all be treated the same who paid the same to get in. Complete BS IMO, and it made me dislike WDW. DL had a far more fair system.

At Disneyland, you can not buy nor start making reservations with Genie+ until you scan into the park.

Why can't WDW just do this? It makes the system much more fair and G+ return times don't disappear so quickly. You can arrive at noon and still get your money's worth.

WDW is obsessed with making people work harder than they need to. They love overcomplicating everything.
I have always HATED the stupid overplanning involved with trying to do anything at WDW. Hate it with a passion. DL (under their old system especially) was much better.

This is the reason I have not wanted to go to WDW now that I can actually pay it. It's too much. I'll rather go to Tokyo with that same money.
This is how I feel with Disneyland (not the planning part, the money part). At least in Tokyo, you get to ride Indiana Jones with everything working. The recent trip reports at DL are bumming me out tbh.

Also I'm a planner but at Disney parks it gets a little overwhelming sometimes.

I don't mean to pick on you Annabelle as you are not the only poster who says this & I am only using your post as an example so this post isn't specifically addressed to you. This statement of "XX can't do standby" is a pet peeve of mine. We have got to teach kids that they can't have everything when they want it. It is something that we have stopped doing as a civilization. When I went the first time in the 80s there were no such things as fastpasses and I waited just like everyone else. My parents took their 3 children and 2 additional children from friend's of theirs. We were all under the age of 8 with two of us 5 and under. We made out just fine as that was what was required.

I very much enjoy being able to skip lines and not have to wait and I don't begrudge anyone that can afford the VIP tours but can we move away from this can't phrase. You can you just don't want to. It is hard to have kids that throw tantrums and maybe constantly ask "when are we going to ride" or say "I'm bored." IMHO it is okay for kids to be bored. It might teach them patience and appreciation for what they have.

Sorry for the rant and I very much understand how hard it is to have littles and how Disney is very stimulating. This is just my opinion. Thanks for letting me take the time to rant. 🤷‍♀️ :lovestruc😉
I'll be the horrible person who will dare to say - if your tiny child "can't" wait in line at all, then perhaps wait until they are older and able to do so before bringing them to Disney? Everyone hates long lines. It is part of life. If they have a disability that makes it especially difficult, that is one thing. But just being a toddler, they can learn to deal with a little line-up - or it won't kill them to wait a year or two to be taken to Disney. I know I will get crapped on for this post, but so be it.

Disneyland doesn't have a 22 resort hotels to fill. That's the difference. FastPass+ advantage was a marketing ploy to get people to stay onsite instead of at cheaper, dare I say nicer with better amenities and service, offsite properties.

It's the complete opposite at Disneyland. Apples to oranges.

Now, you just get a better shot at a park reservation. Oh, boy, thank you so much for valuing me! 🤣

Third time replying here - maybe third times a charm? First 2 replies got eaten by the boards.

Even though DLP is doing this - I don't think park goers here would have the appetite for a $100+ "skip the line" pass, essentially doubling the price of your ticket. People would also have the expectation of being able to ride every single ride and "front of the line" access for that price - which potentially eats into VIP tours.

So even though you don't care - I suspect many many others will care.

If they did introduce such a pass though - don't you think lines for the older rides would still be insanely long? The Lightning Lane might be more empty, but more people would be in the standby line.

I get that. luckily for me my parents live relatively close so I don't count airfare in the price I pay, only tickets and hotel. Last time I went I payed like $500 I think total. With dining packages included.
