VDH Opening

My DVC guide just called me to check in on VDH and my interest. He confirmed I am still interested in VDH and that I probably know more than him about things. He said no point charts or incentive info yet. He said only a limited number of rooms were released for the cash reservations and made it seem like eventually that once points charts are released that we would have a shot to book the Sept-Dec dates with points. Not sure how true that is though. I already have my November dates at VGC so I am not overly concerned with a fall reservation there. He did confirm that despite moving from CA to FL that he does have his CA license still so he will be able to sell as soon as points go on sale to me if I am interested.

I’m eagerly awaiting sales information and points charts and restriction information.

I’m really curious what the delay is being caused by. Time to get this going!

Wishful thinking would be that they are making changes to reduce the price per point/increase incentives given how much the economy has slowed in the past 3-6 months.

They definitely had more guides at kiosks then I have ever seen before, but I am surprised that they didn’t have their ducks in a row for the start of spring break crowds, band competitions, cheerleading competitions, etc that are happening in late March.

Direct sales are abysmally low and there are corporate layoffs at Disney, I can’t imagine why the executives wouldn’t want sales UNLESS it’s because they want the revenue bump in Q2 instead of Q1.

Direct sales are so low. I watched a video on YouTube where they surmised that the price per point was going up to $227 because of the fine print in the promo, but I’m pretty sure those contact price totals include fees/closing costs. I think it would be pretty crazy for them to increase pp cost when the sales are so sluggish as it is. I’m surprised current incentives aren’t better though too.

I don’t really care about incentives because I don’t plan to buy enough points to qualify. I want just enough to be guaranteed the 11 month window for a studio for 5 nights in the middle busy times every other year. If we want to go more often we’ll try to use our other points at the 7 month window. But I am really eager to see the point chart so I can figure out how many points I think I need. They’re killing me with dropping just a few bread crumbs and then radio silence.

Kinda sounds like a call I got from my guide. Wonder if we have the same one :P

My guide is on a cruise this week. He’s California based though.

What's his name? I think mine is CA based as well. Not sure if he's actually "my" guide since I don't own DVC direct at all but he's the dude I've emailed back and forth with a bit. I think his name is Jason.

I think the earliest release info will be fall.
Booking 2024.
Remember, they have to sell 1000's of points before there is inventory.
They don't have to sell 1000s of points to have inventory. They actually can't sell without inventory. They first declare inventory and then they can sell the points with deeds tied to those rooms.

Once inventory is declared, it is bookable for points in the system, for whatever date they declare opening of the rooms.

For example, they declared 101 rooms for BPK to start and those rooms were all available for booking the first day booking opened for stays. It did not matter how many points were sold yet for those rooms.

All of the DVC kiosks in the DLR parks are now manned again, often with 2 CMs each. The only one not staffed is the outdoor kiosk in the Esplanade.

Mine is Kenny! I also have Allen who’s in Hawaii. I’m not sure if I’m suppose to have two but both reach out to me.

If they open the resort to book with points in September, then to someone who buys an October or December UY, they'll have to give them 2022 points, I believe.
It would make sense from a DVC perspective to open the resort for points in February 2024. They can push a Feb UY to people who don't know better, so they get only 2024 points, some will get 2023 points, no one will get 2022 points.

I think Disney could just say in the POS that the first UY getting funded with points is October 2023 if they wanted to. I don’t think they’re under any obligation to give away current UY points so long as they clearly disclose it up front.

How exactly do you get a new guide? We’re resale and just got off the Magic where one of the DVC guides said he was going to become our guide. I emailed him two weeks ago and never heard back from him. I want to make sure someone is ready if/when we want to buy VDH and this current guide isn’t even acknowledging us!
