May 20th, 2023 - 7-Night Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona (Toulon, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Naples, Palma de Mallorca)

Sorry, I worded that really badly 🤦‍♀️ (I’ve sailed DCL before). Thank you for offering to check though! I meant more asking people who’ve booked whether excursions had sold out quickly or whether there still seemed to be decent availability left. There’s not specific excursions I’m fixed on atm, just want to ensure there are still a decent selection available.

I’ve not sailed since the pandemic measures were dropped and know at least upon restarting some of the sailings had been quite scant on excursion availability.
Now I understand. I just checked and as of now I would say all the ports besides Toulon have very good availability. I know from the other cruise group that a lot of people went with non Disney excursions.

So sold out right now are:
Toulon: TL01, 02, 03, 08, 12, 10, 14
Livorno: LV 44
Rome: CV115
Naples: NP79, NP81
Palma: PM08, 15, 50

Hope this helps!

I haven’t cruises since before Covid and did not feel like this was a reduced offering. More or less all the excursions that were on the website for those ports were being offered I think.

I have to admit I did not pay extremely close attention as we are planning on doing our own thing in every port (walk around Toulon, maybe do a port cruise or go to a beach, take train to Pisa, Rome and Pompeii and walk around the old quarter of Palma).

That’s super helpful, thank you so much!

We got our luggage tags yesterday! We still haven’t decided what to do in Toulon…any suggestion would be great! We are DIY cruisers, but would consider visiting Castellet, Cssis, or Aix En Provence!

Yay on luggage tags! I am envious. We are in Europe, recent reports are that luggage tags here usually arrive while you are sailing due to overseas mail…

We might take the train to Hyeres which appears to have a nice medieval old town up in a hill.

I got an email from my travel agent today alerting me that online check in is getting close!

Looks like the cruise is really getting closer!

No room assignment yet for us, we booked OGT and I see that oceanview is now totally sold out. I am a bit surprised about this! Not sure what this means for what type of room we might get… I know I will be happy with any room considering how much we saved over the deck 2 oceanview that we had originally booked…

Still trying to find reasonable flights. Dh says we can drive 🤪. Uhm no no. We did that in 2010 when we were still young lol

Where are you coming from? Taking the train might work. We are taking the train back to Germany via Southern France. It’s surprisingly affordable.

Coming from region Rotterdam Netherlands. Getting tired comparing all the flights add-ons. Carry on costs, oh you want your carry on in the cabin? Extra cost. checked luggage costs, like 125€ per suitcase 😱. Don’t care if we sit together for 90€ extra cost 🤪

Prefer not to fly vueling or ryanair for this reason cause they also tend to be very strict with their carry on sizes.

Last time i looked the train was even more expensive

I hear you! We are flying Lufthansa from Frankfurt, but booked quite some time ago. It was more expensive than we wanted but still ok.

Oh, and Kayak is good at comparing the real prices including luggage.

We have finally booked our flights…overnight (I’ve been checking every day) the price decreased a lot…enough for our Remy dinner which is how I’m selling it to my husband :rolleyes1

We did have a non-refundable cruise rate booked but now the final puzzle piece is in place, I really feel like we are going now!

Yea. Just booked our flights this week as well. Friday morning Ams-BCN and return saterday after disembarkation. Hope I don’t regret choosing AMS instead of Rotterdam or Eindhoven. So now in search of a hotel friday that’s reasonable

We just booked tickets for a one day excursion from Barcelona to the Port Aventura theme park for the day before the cruise. My husband is a big fan of every type of theme park (not just Disney) and is excited to add a new one to his list! As far as I know it is on a site that way back in the 1980s was considered for EuroDisney before they settled on Paris.

We went to Port Aventura after our med cruise in 2014. My kids weren’t tall enough for the big rides then. I remember very very long lines

I was hoping that May wouldn’t be too busy yet. We are thinking of getting the express pass, but it’s 55€ per person. 😬

I went back through my notes. It was also whit Sunday weekend but it fell early June that year.
Weird thing was park opened at 10.00 but the big rides didn’t open until noon so there were already massive lines then waiting for the rides to open.
My kids were too big for the kiddie rides and too small for the big rides. So monday they rather stayed an swam in the hotel pool than going back to the park.
But this was 9 years ago so a lot could have changed since then.

Thanks for the info! That doesn't sound too great. What a strange way of doing things! When we were in Madrid we did a day trip to the Warner Brothers Park in that area and we had a fun day there. It didn't even open until noon.

Not sure if the Spanish have a day off after ascension but if it’s very busy and you want the big rides then express pass is an option. I hate that every themepark now has a pay to play option.

Booked our Barcelona hotel. Across the Diagonal Mar shopping centre. So now to figure out how to do some sightseeing and what to do with luggage. We land at 8.00.

We’ve been to Sagrada Familia and the cable car to mont juic. Maybe see parc guell this time.
