Has anyone disembarked the Magic since drydock?

I've been reading about a lot of issues with the a/c not working in rooms and hallways, plumbing issues and chipped paint. I am wondering if you noticed the same thing

So, the cruise we were on was the first after dry dock where there were so many issues. The next cruise after ours just disembarked today, so you'll probably start hearing from anyone on that cruise in the next day or so. Tonight, they start a 4 night repo to Miami, so that will also give a quick turn around on the next set of cruisers to provide updates.

Been hearing lots of reports about AC and drainage issues. A lot of people have also said the ship feels very tired. The Magic is starting to show her age. Sailing so many transatlantic cruises over the years probably doesn't help either.

I don’t get it?!?
I was on last couple of days in Feb/early March and it sounds like they ruined the ship while in dry-dock?
Yeah the back elevators had a thing. Hope that got fixed. Fancy touch screen buttons on the elevator seemed to work fine if I bumped them, so well in fact that I usually added 3 more stops each time I stood by the door, ugh.
My bed/sofa was awful for the first time in 8 cruises. I never had a problem before February though.
Nothing else comes to mind. But I didn’t see the light fixture problem at the center of the atrium. It wasn’t the beautiful original glass sculpture so it really wasn’t worth looking at. Maybe if I stared at that I could find the issue that makes some people feel she should be abandoned and used as a starter for our current lack of coral reefs.

I want to pound a lump on someone’s head for the stools that now keep us from sitting at the windows. But that’s still not accounting for the wheels falling off the bus comments I’m hearing here.

Where are these patches of paint that are missing?

I didn’t have the AC problem mentioned here so maybe that’s a problem resulting from dry-dock? AC is very important to me. I’ll poke a hole in the bottom of the ship myself if they don’t get that fixed.

I’m sassy to be funny, not mean. I love Disney, land and sea.

I actually agree with the pp, I was on the Magic last September and while the chandelier was peeling and promenade lounge looked VERY tired, I didn’t feel the ship as a whole felt tired. Not sure what happened between September and pre-dry dock when lots were complaining the ship felt tired.

This makes me nervous as I'm sailing on her in two weeks. Who would have thought that dry dock would cause major functionality issues like A/C?

I had tub drainage issues on a Fantasy cruise last year- water always pooling around my feet when I showered and they could never fix it. Not looking forward to that possibly being an issue again:

The Magic's current chandelier has never been pretty imo so I don't care about that.

I booked this cruise due to a GT rate. If there are significant problems, it will be my last cruise on the Magic. I already prefer the Dream class, anyway.

We’re sailing on the Magic mid-Sept … hoping that it’s all worked out by the time we go …
Same here! September 18 sailing. Really hoping all the issues are sorted before we sail. It’s our first time to try out Concierge and I know DH will never let me book that level again if there are problems with our room. 🤦🏻‍♀

We’re sailing Sept 15-18 - and it’s our first time concierge on the Magic. Concierge on the Wonder is FABULOUS. So if you need to get him to love concierge - I’d suggest the Wonder 100%. I’ve heard in general the smaller ships are better at concierge because you get more attention.

We’re doing concierge on the Wish next Jan - and I’ve read mixed reviews - some say the ship was made with concierge guests in mind & other reviews saying there are too many guests to get personalized attention in Concierge.

If nothing else - we know we love the Wonder and we can always sail on that ship!

Please help me understand the rational behind this statement. If there is any truth to this how is Cunard in business? Why would they choose to have a ship only sailing every 7 days from the UK to USA if this is true?

These comments had me chuckling 😂🤣☠️☠️

It was on here a month or two again that a crew member had said there's a belief at Disney that the transatlantic sailings have taken a beating on the Magic.

That’s great to know! The next cruise I’m looking at is an Alaska one and I wanted to do concierge on that to have access to the glassed in lounge on colder days. Great to know that the Wonder does Concierge so well!

It’s interesting and I’ve always wondered about your standard cruise ship hitting the Caribbean vs the true “ocean liners”, pretty sure they beef up the hulls and a deeper draft for the them?

I’m not sure I buy into that as all the other major cruise lines send ships as old as the Magic over to Europe. Just a quick peek at Royal tells me that Rhapsody and Enchantment crossed the Atlantic this year, and they’re both older than the Magic.

What were your experiences on the ship? Did you notice issues? Major, minor?
1. Our balcony covered in paint chips that took maintenance two hours to scrape off and our stateroom host had no idea

2. Our room AC (8592) was cool the first few days but not typical DCL cold and the hallways and aft elevator lobby was very hot the first five days or so.

3. Beverage station out first two days - cabanas was backup

4. Eye scream not open first two days or so. Then open and worked great.

5. We lost power three times in our stateroom in one day!

6. The stateroom number round fell off the door of the room next to us. Surprising it is just attached to the door with double sided tape and the round is actually very light.

7. Random areas of ship were hot. Previous 10 sailings always needed a sweatshirt for WDT, this sailing never even used my sweatshirt not even once on the ship.

8. Guest services hosts were not thst helpful.

9. Starboard side aft elevator was still not working at all on our sailing.

10. Touch screens inside the elevators went dark randomly and unresponsive.

11. Water dripping from ceilings outside of the Walt Disney theater.

12. Adult pool was leaking water the first few days but they fixed that and it was fine afterwards.

13. No shuffleboard our sailing but it was being painted on as we left the ship.

The good:

1. Our dinner service team was awesome.
2. Tisa from adult entertainment was a rock star
3. Encanto experience was nice and cute
4. Jazz 75 is my new fav drink on that ship from the Soul Cat Lounge
5. Happy hour deals at Ogills were great!
6. Snacks out at ogills from about 6:30 to 11:30 on
7. Palo service was top notch for us.
8. New carpeting in most places but in staterooms hallways while the actual carpet is new the design is the same old four ship design!
9. Photo folks were very good.
10. Room service was great as usual

All said - we are back on the ship on June 19th from Miami and hoping these
Issues are fixed. Did not ruin our vacation and we still had a great time visiting all the different ports of call and making new friends like @Calantha and @auntlynne both of whom we would sail with again if the chance arises!
