Quarantine for illness

My boyfriend is currently in isolation for norovirus. This is what they are most concerned about again
I hope he feels better soon! And I hope the rest of you don’t get sick.
What happens if that were the case? Do they cancel shows?

Thank you!
It depends how many of the Cast were sick and unable to perform. I have had a couple of times where a show was cancelled completely

I’m too nosy for my own good. But I ask because I’m curious about the life of CM’s. So were you dating before the ship and able to arrange a cruise together? Are you able to request the same time off for days off at port? Will he be able to find something at your next location or is he remaining with the ship to pursue his dreams?
Think I watch to much “Below Deck”

Lol I understand people are curious, ask anything you want!!
We met during a previous contract and started dating then. He is also a performer so we have a very similar schedule and we are lucky we can spend a lot of time together. For now he will be remaining on ships and wants to do at least another contract

Not mean thinking if I follow anyone on ships dating 🤣.

For sure covid is here to stay
that being said if someone not feeling good either thinking fou ..cold .. influenza or covid might want to put a mask ( not saying they have to ) in order to protect others
I had a co worker that did just that last week
but as I say not obligated but could be a nice way to protect others when you think what you have might spread

I wish people did this. No, I'm not saying it should be mandated, but I guess I'm saying it shouldn't have to be mandated. If you (royal you) think you might have a contagious disease (cold/flu/etc.) please limit your interactions and wear a mask. If you can, maybe also let others know so they can choose to further distance and/or wear a mask. I'm not saying people need to shut themselves up in a bubble if they get sick, but it doesn't seem that hard to have a little common courtesy if you think you could be contagious.

We had an in-person department retreat last week, and two people were wearing masks because they had colds/sore throats/etc. I appreciated that, and knowing that information I also choose to wear a mask because I had some travel coming up and wanted to avoid getting sick (regardless of whether it was COVID/flu/cold/etc.)

Exactly
just because one never knows some people may have heart ..lungs ..ot be immune compromised and if they catch even influenza or covid might be almost very risky for them

yes go about your cruise but if not outside wear a mask
it’s just common sens to me

Just curious...since covid is not going away how is it now handled while contacting it onboard. Are passengers still quarantined if they get covid, noro or flu virus?
If you test positive on board, you will be isolated to your cabin for the remainder of your cruise or until you test negative. It's the same as when you get any contagious illness on a cruise ship. You can volunteer to test or the medical team on board can request you take a test if you are showing signs of illness. If someone tests positive, your entire cabin must test and anyone that tests positive is mandated to remain in their room.

This was pre Covid but we've had sailings where so many of the Entertainment Cast were sick, they had to cancel shows, limit meet and greets. They only have so many performers on board and they can't just call people to come in most of the time.

Do they still credit you for days in quarantine? They did months ago.
Yes they do for our family during the 10 night July cruise. My daughter had two cabins and was given the prorated amount for 5 days for each cabin. She did have insurance but didn’t have to use it. They could not be moved as it was a full ship so stuck in an OV room. NO movie rental on the Fantasy. Just the same old stuff. They were sick and miserable. They did get The dinner from any restaurant each night. they moved their kids to one cabin and they were in the other. We all had to test. Being quarantined was worse than the virus. My daughter was offered paxlovid but decline as it was $500 PIF. She was sick for over a week after getting off the ship. They escorted ALL the covid passengers off the ship through deck 1 after everyone is off. She didn’t get off until 10:15am. They did get free wifi to keep up with the kids. us grandparents became the guardian for the 16 year old who was moved to her 18 year old sisters room. Normally each room needs a 21 year old, but they waived that rule. She could only get off with us.

I came down with norovirus back in March. They did not charge me for the visit to the health center. They sent me all meals by room service, offered us a free internet package and gave us some pics with a photo book for free. Thankfully, I was sick the last day and I was the only one quarantined. However, we were made to get off the ship last the next day, which was a bummer.

Correct me if I am wrong, but if I show up at the medical center with upper respiratory symptoms and test negative for flu and COVID-19 then I would not need to quarantine? They would send me on my way and possibly give me meds?

As far as I know, they only require quarantine for norovirus and COVID-19 (not for cold and flu).

I’m no authority, but I’m concerned GIVE could be mistaken for free. I think they offer a sea sickness item free(maybe) but maybe not even that. I’ve never used them but I thought the doctor was making all his own money from patrons of the cruise not through Disney. I think it was different during the early years, like more was offered very early on.

Correct. If you visit the health center for illness, expect to be charged for the visit plus any meds. Charges go to your onboard account and must be paid before debarkation. You can settle with insurance post-cruise if possible.

I do believe they have packets of Dramamine or such out with no charge.

Do/did they offer free sea sickness, medicine at one time?? Did I hear they had something just outside the door that you could grab one if you needed one decades ago?

I haven't checked lately, but on our 2016 Wonder Alaska cruise, I grabbed free samples of meclizine from just outside of Health services on deck 1. They had a bin of them and info pages on how to deal with sea sickness. It was our first cruise and my 16 yr old was seasick. We now buy Bonine (meclizine) and our family takes it as needed.
