What movie will you always stop channel surfing to watch?

28 days
cold mountain
dances with wolves
a river runs through it
legends of the fall
under the tuscan sun

Streaming has ruined me, & I don’t really channel surf any longer.

But, if I were channel surfing, I’d stop for the following movies - but, again, streaming has ruined me & I have no patience for commercials, so, even w/ my favorite movies, I’d probably start flipping through the channels again as soon as the commercials started.

Anyway -

Bird on a Wire
Fool’s Gold
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
National Lampoon’s Vacation
Overboard (the original one)
Pretty Woman
Speed
The Spy Who Dumped Me
Twister

Just about any movie I've already seen.

Currently - The Apartment
The Proposal
While You Were Sleeping
Bells Are Ringing
Harry Potter movies
Red (and Red 2)
The Intern
The Cutting Edge
About 1/2 of the Hallmark Christmas movies
Since You Went Away
Three Came Home
The Egg & I
The Corn Is Green
Sleeping With the Enemy
Devil Wears Prada
Anything with Helen Mirren
and on and on......

Yeah, really, any movie (old or new) that I've already seen.

Not much of a movie guy, but The Godfather will should give me pause to watch it again, or at least part of it, or click record on the TiVo. And then maybe the original The Day the Earth Stood Still and possible the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Maybe Christmas Story at Christmas time. I'm also a softie for Columbo reruns.

Lets' see, of the ones mentioned above.....

National Lampoon’s Vacation, also National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Maybe Jurassic Park
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Wizard of Oz (again :rolleyes2)
Titanic

I'm sure there might be a few others.

DH always laughs at me because we own the Harry Potter movies and I can watch them anytime I want, but I will often watch the weekends SyFy has Harry Potter marathons.

Looks like Prisoner of Azkaban is on E! right now! (my 2nd favorite, after the first one)

Harry Potter, always!

i am convinced that you can turn on a tv in any hotel and always find the following airing-

some harry potter movie
some family guy episode
some friend's episode.

no matter what cable or satelite system.

I've noticed the same phenomenon, and I have two theories:

1) There's just something about knowing other people are out there watching it "with" you that makes it more special.

2) I don't purposely put the movie on unless I actually have time to watch it, but if it's on TV, I'll put it on as background while I'm doing chores or paperwork or whatever.

The Women (1939 version)
Singin' in the Rain
Working Girl
The Miracle Worker
Daddy Long Legs
An American in Paris
The Princess Bride
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Two that I can think of and didn’t see already listed (unless I missed them) are:

Casablanca
Treasure of the Sierra Madre

Yep, on to Goblet of Fire now.

The Mummy and Mummy Returns (don’t acknowledge the third one)

Back to the Future I and III (II is meh)

Apollo 13
Toy Story (any of them)
The Princess Bride
Mr. Holland's Opus (Do they even show that on TV anymore?)
October Sky (Have they EVER shown that on TV? lol)
50 First Dates (Which I find odd, considering I normally shun anything "romantic," but I love that movie for some reason. Probably because it's less about "romance" and more about genuine love. Not saying romantic love isn't genuine.)

Jurassic Park I will switch on for a few minutes solely so I can try to catch the theme music, because the theme to Jurassic Park is a favorite of mine. But I don't think I've ever actually seen an entire Jurassic Park movie from beginning to end.
