My kid started watching some of this. I'm not necessarily thrilled by some of the adult innuendo that he brings (not for me but my kid) but it's all in good fun and my kid is probably mature enough for it.

This is the "Uncle Roger" persona of Nigel Ng. He's Malaysian Chinese and educated at Northwestern University, but now lives in London. He apparently dropped his day job in favor of standup comedy. But his big schtick is Uncle Roger, a middle-aged Chinese "uncle" with an exaggerated Malaysian Cantonese accent, plus a passion for egg fried rice and orange polo shirts.

Love Uncle Roger. It’s my kids who put me onto him as well (albeit, they’re 22 and 17)

Traditional cooking shows (sort of) that I like are Binging with Babish and Joshua Weismann. Another one that is a little odd, but fun, is Mythical Kitchen, a spin-off of the show Good Mythical Morning.

I love Uncle Roge's (and Steven He's) comedy! Watching Uncle Roger roast Rachel Ray and Jamie Oliver cracks me up.

My favorite youtube food personality is Pailin Chongchitnant (I hope I spelled that right). She saved us from missing out on Thai food during the pandemic.

I watch cooking channels on YT. I'm not interested in funny and other theatrics. I just like watching them cook things that I can try to cook later. I use to love Good Eats and Alton's scientific take on cooking (didn't like his funny antics though.)

This guy is now doing some experimental stuff like comparing how to prepare steaks or testing different canned tomatoes and such. Also he's done some fun videos where he sent I think his brother out for Chick Fila, then tried to make a chicken sandwich before his brother got home. He's done McDonalds, Taco Bell, Popeyes, In-and-Out...

Nigel Ng has been banned by pretty much every Chinese social media platform that he participated in.

Comedian Nigel Ng's Chinese social media accounts have been suspended, amid what seems to be a crackdown by Beijing on comics.
Last Tuesday, Ng tweeted a promo clip for his upcoming show which poked fun at China's authoritarian government.
He was performing as his stage persona Uncle Roger and joked that he was "about to get cancelled".
Ng's Weibo and Bilibili accounts - China's Twitter and YouTube - were frozen at the weekend.
A message on his Weibo account, where he has more than 400,000 followers, reads: "The user has been banned from posting as he has violated relevant laws and regulations."
Ng on Monday reposted the video on Twitter, this time with the caption: "For some reason this clip got a ton of views this past weekend. I wonder why."
The BBC has reached out to the London-based Malaysian comedian for comment.

Cooking History is my weekly watch. I also watch Sorted Food which is made up of some British friends, one is a chef and the rest are learning. They produce several videos a week, but I don't watch all of them.

Peaceful Cuisine is also nice because it is just calming.

When I am looking for a recipe for a specific type of item, I have found many good videos on youtube. They show how to prepare something with clear/simple explanations and then include the recipe as part of the write-up. If you can find four different people making the same thing, you can easily compare ingredients, quantities, methods and techniques to find the one that works best. I don't care for any of the chefs who make it more about themselves by trying to be witty/funny/off-beat in order to standout in the crowd. In their effort to be entertaining and attract a following, the actual cooking/preparation seems to get lost along the way. The technique for making certain types of pastries and breads is just as important as the ingredient list or directions.

I like watching the videos better then random individuals who host a blog or post recipes that may/may not actually work. Often you find that certain things have been left out or they assume you already know something that isn't obvious.

More recently I've been checking out the misadventures of Josh Carrott and Ollie Kendall, who have two YouTube channels - JOLLY (a mashup of their names) and Korean Englishman. The latter is based on Carrott's background learning about Korean food and culture from Korean students when he was at an international student in China as well as his university year abroad in Korea. His Korean is supposedly really good and reports are that Korean Englishman has most of its views in Korea where they're apparently amused.

I suppose the best example is the latest one when they attended the first state dinner for King Charles.

And I suppose a good example of their sense of humour (spelling intended) would be their take on expanding the range of Big Macs.

I don't know anything about these cooking videos but was skimming the thread until I came across @mrodgers name, I yhen realized the thread is almost a year old. I miss @mrodgers. If you're out there, stop by and say hello.

We saw Uncle Roger in the American Airlines first class lounge in LAX - I wanted to get a photo with him and our youngest kid but the son chickened out LOL.

I watch Anti-Chef as well as a British YouTube show that has 2 professional chefs alongside 3 “ordinary” home cooks - can’t remember their name but it’s good.
