BWV refurb is in full swing.

I agree with everything you've said here concerning the lack of planning, the lack of good customer service, and the lack of fair compensation. However, I don't see how it's possible to move people to the rooms or resorts you've suggested. They are all likely at or near capacity as well.
I agree about the availability but the fact of the matter is Disney underestimated how long it would take for them to get these rooms back online. If there was any doubt about it, they should've waited until the rooms were literally having the finishing touches put on them and then put back online into the DVC system but instead they played the game of trying to beat the clock and lost. Plain and simple they did not deliver the room that was requested and realistically should be offering a full refund of points and providing alternative accommodations elsewhere on property

100%
My only point was that at this point, the only place to move anyone is going to likely be somewhere less desirable. I am in no way saying this situation is right or fair. It's awful. I also didn't think it was fair when I was paying $1200+ a night cash for 14 nights to stay in an unfinished cottage surrounded by construction on the BW Inn side. This entire renovation on both cash and DVC sides has been handled poorly. Beyond poorly!

I talked to more than one DVC rep in the 3 days before check in . Not one of them mentioned converting the points to reservation points. It could be that that would have happened and they just would not have mentioned it, but I would hope they would be more transparent than that. I would have refused too. So what are you options, to just cancel? I was told (when I questioned them) that if I would cancel the reservation by the end of the day before check in would those points go into holding and they said no, they would make a one time exception. The least they could do since they informed me that there was no boardwalk view studio for me 3 days before checkin. The lateness of the notice was what I was the most angry about. I did express that multiple times. Little good did it do. I heard this response, “we had to inform members with a grand villa reservation over Thanksgiving. Not my monkey. Poor planning/poor execution of handling this renovation. Was also told how hard it is with all the construction in the Orlando area to finish a project on time due to labor shortages. Again, they should have thought ahead, in my opinion, with informing members, arranging alternatives, holding back inventory, whatever it takes.
Hmmmm... so question. Are you a direct benefits member? Is the conversion to reservation points basically trading into RCI (or whatever it's called now)? I am resale and I would assume they can't do that on my account if this is the case. I'm certain they can move me another way, but this makes me wonder if they'd move others first. I'd be happy with inn rooms and $50 credit per night as long as they move both of my rooms, but I understand why you don't want converted points.

Both of my contracts are resale 🤷‍♀️ When I said moving to the cash side was fine, she then mentioned about the points converting to reservation points. I (kindly) explained that would not work for my family due to my husband being in law enforcement and having an ever changing schedule, so having the option/easy flexibility to cancel is a high priority for us.

She called back after speaking to someone else, and offered us a DVC studio at either OKW or Beach Club 🤯 Easy choice, and they gave us the extra 12 pts to change from BW to BC (our 4 nights at BW was 60 pts, and those same nights at BC 72 pts), plus the $50 per night credit.

I feel like they handled my situation perfectly, so I feel very fortunate since others have not been so lucky. And since moving to the cash side was declined based solely on the reservation points possibility, I’m not sure how they plan on handling that later on should someone else have to cancel.

Glad to see someone over at Disney did the right thing for you by getting you into BC. That's a very fair tradeoff in my opinion. Hope that others start to get similar offers soon.

Yes, definitely an easy choice! I would take Beach Club in a heartbeat lol. I'm glad that Disney figured out how to make this right for you. What is your check in date? The latest I've seen for the room switches so far is March 9th.

March 10th-14th. BC is easily the most comparable to BW, so even though we didn’t necessarily want it (the pool/slide situation at SAB makes me a little uneasy with 3 kids, 5 and under) I would much rather stay there for what I have in mind this trip than anywhere else!

The issue with Reservation Points is that if you cancel, those points can’t be used for a normal DVC resort reservation, they can only be used for a hotel or a DCL cruise or an Adventures by Disney trip. Much more restrictive than normal DVC Vacation Points and therefore undesirable for most people.
Listen, I liked the ceiling fan but my wife didn't at night. We used it during the day if in the room. If you don't like the ceiling fan there was no reason to remove them, just don't use them. They don't come on automatically you actually have to use the wall switch. JMO

Agreed. It's a design choice and rather silly to remove it. I thought the same thing when they actually spent time ($$$'s) going into every room and removing the clocks. :sad2: I personally don't like ceiling fans at all but have a couple of family members who feel like they're suffocating if they don't have them on at night. Or day. It's much better to have them than not. I thought when SSR kept them they would end up doing so at all the next renovations but no.
We like ceiling fans too, and the ones in our home run pretty much all year, so we’re definitely going to miss having them.

That said, they’re major dust catchers, a fact of which we’re reminded when seasons change and we reverse the direction of rotation. So my guess is that Disney is removing them to save on housekeeping time, and for all I know there may be risks of injury (worker’s comp claims) involved too.

Another question though - is that how the most loyal Disney fans (DVC owners) are typically treated? What happened to Disney’s customer service? I feel like it used to be best in class, and now it seems like they’re dishing out ultimatums if you don’t accept their pathetic offer. That’s something I’d expect out of a bad internet provider, not Disney.
I wish it could be said it was unusual but it is not. They are known to be very mixed in situations like this and it's not unusual for them to come up short. Then in other instances they give out credits when there doesn't seem to have been a need.

Interesting. My upcoming boardwalk reservation is around that time. Which studio category did you have booked at Boardwalk?

Edit: JK. Just saw it was for a standard view at BW. The following week we have 2 nights in a studio at AK (value+club level) and then 3 nights in a Beach Club studio and then 3 nights in a BW BWV studio. I wonder if they’ll try to do the same for us to move us out of our BW studio but I could’ve swore that BW view was the first one they worked on so unlikely? 🤔

By March all BW view rooms should be done. They were supposed to be done by now.

Given the delays, do we think they'll do the other rooms the same way they did this wing where they shutdown all floors on one side of the resort? We are in a P/G view studio in mid-June. I know in theory they should be done, but if this refurb got started in September and they still aren't done w/the current half of the resort then I feel like there is a good possibility that they will still be working into the summer.

I would be concerned about this too, especially since there are so many P/G units.

how far in advance are people getting phone calls? Checking in 1/18 for a 10 night stay in a 2 bedroom BW view

Well said. I should have plagiarized your post in my post on another thread. I hope DVC gets its act together with future refurbs.

After reading some of these recent posts I'm starting to get concerned. We are scheduled to check into BWV-1 bedroom w/BWV on 1/27/24. Am I understanding this correctly that we could possibly be bumped? I sure hope not, I thought everything was moving along nicely but I guess I may have thought wrong... On the other hand, I guess I shouldn't be surprised based on how well The Cake Shop is moving along...
