No more personalized screens

Hm they were on at Expedition Everest last week. To be honest there was no way you would have known who in that space belonged to what name. It wasn't like it was the person right under the sign. I thought it was cute. Of course there are millions of people with my name and it was only ever my first so I figured there were probably other women in line with the same name.

When we rode haunted mansion a few weeks ago the hitchhiking ghosts ending had been changed back to an older one, so there was no displaying names on tombstones or anything like that.

Think the only trip I saw that in was July.

Well darn, we've yet to be one of those that saw the HM customized bit. We always got the one where they changed our heads or threw pied in our face. We saw it on others in cars around us though.

I always enjoyed when it grabbed our names on RnR or EE though. I think we got greetings on ITASW once, but we don't ride it each trip

I don't use my real name on my MB, I also don't use my real name anywhere on the internet. I've never seen any of them, I don't ride most of the rides they were on except HM and didn't see it there when I was there last week nor did I see anything in TSMM. I can see how it might bother some people, they just don't really want their name or faces plastered in public places. I don't do the picture thing on SSE either, it's not working now but when it does I pull my hat down or slide over a tad.
For faces I can understand but for names why? How would anyone in line know what name goes with what guest? Unless you shout out "hey, that's me!"

Didn't they at one time during the castle pre-show plaster that day's Photopass pics up on the castle.....or was that Disneyland? I thought I heard they did that at some point

We thought it was cute on Small World last month. Didn't really notice it anywhere else, other than RnR.

Wow, that's pretty extreme. Out of curiosity, what's the concern with the SE photo?

I do understand people have privacy concerns, but to me what WDW has been doing isn't a big deal. It's just first names, or the state you're from. I think the photos on SE were fun, sad they have been down. There are many more places that I would have data security concerns than what I've seen in the parks.

For me, there are a number of reasons. One stems from a throw back to my childhood and being old south. My mama used to drill in my head a ladies name and face only appear in print twice, when they are married and when they die. I even write reviews for a web site and use a different name, I've been quoted on author's blurbs in their books and have given them permission to do so only if they use the name I write under. It's silly, and trust me most of what Mama taught me didn't stick except that and not wearing white after labor day. Another reason is I don't like my picture being taken, just don't like it. Most of the time if someone has a camera out I'm hidden behind someone else. I would never complain about it to Disney since it's just a personal thing.

Yup.

At MK, that show was "The Magic, the Memories and You."

That show morphed a bit and eventually became the currently-running "Celebrate the Magic."

I took a pic of the screen on IASW when it said goodbye to me then later I went on the ride again with the entire group I was with and one screen had all of our names which we thought was cute (I didn't take a pic of that one). A cute touch and certainly no one knew which name went with who and honestly, we were so eager to find our own that we never paid attention to any of the others.

Darn. I was looking forward to the HM stuff on our trip next weekend. I don't think they had started it when we were there in January.

What a shame. We had good luck with them last month. We appeared as a couple on IASW and Space Mountain (that's what the glitch ridden chrome screens are meant to do!!) and hubby got pulled on on Everest a few times and RnRC a few times- where it took one of us, it was always him!!

Were you or the person you were riding with on HM celebrating something at the time? We figured out that my son kept getting the cake in the face because his birthday was "attached" to his info. Same with my in-laws celebrating their anniversary. Whomever rode with any of them had the cake in the face.

I really loved the touches that we got with our magic bands on our last trip in July. I was celebrating my birthday so HM ghosts always had a birthday ending for me, I got to see my name on the signage at Everest & RnR, and It's a Small World at the end. I am actually sad about losing these, I was looking forward to them again on my next trip.

I just found out about this a couple months ago...put it on my list of things to look for...now it is gone...so sad

I think I'm going to join the system update/upgrade side. When I was there in July, I rode HM while wearing my MB and I had my DD's MB in my purse - but when I got toward the end, the tombstone popped up with ONLY my DH's name on it (the only one of our three MBs NOT on the ride). Seems there was a glitch in the system pulling another name from the same account. Maybe they're fixing that, and perhaps making other improvements?

This last time, yes it was my birthday. But trips before no, no one was celebrating anything.

I think this is bad reporting, they worked less than they did work and has since they came out.. I think one in every 3 different trips in they would be working since they came out...

The author just finally found them not working for the first time in my mind.. maybe there's more inside info and they are down for repair or to redo something so they are reliable.

I am a privacy nut - fake names, no Facebook etc. When MB first were introduced and all of the tracking features were shared - I was totally appalled that Disney was going to do this. I was temporarily relieved that I could still get a KTTKC that would work as a ticket and not do all of the tracking ...but then the other limitations of the card were revealed.

I eventually got over it and after having experienced several magic band trips I don't think I could go back to not having the convenience of my band and we have really enjoyed the special touches. We like getting our ride photos, seeing our custom greetings at EE, IASW, HM, RNR etc.

I still minimize my cloud footprint significantly but I am pretty sure that there isn't to much that can be compromised by my Disney MB Feaures..and anyone who wants to preclude those things is more than capable of just using a card instead of a MB!

We personalized our magicbands with funny nicknames just for this reason. I'm alittle bummed now.
