skipping squeeze room on haunted mansion?

Before our first trip I thought I read somewhere that it was possible to ask to skip the squeeze room, but now I can't find any info.
We tried taking our kids on and they were terrified in the squeeze room and we had to bail on the ride. They are now 5, 7 and 9 and I think would be totally fine on the actual ride but they all have terrible memories of the squeeze room. Is it indeed possible to bypass that part, and if so, how?

Yes. Just tell a cast member that you want to skip the portrait room pre-show. They will let you in where the ride vehicles load.

if you are talking about disney world then yes you can skip the stretching room. just tell the CM that you would like to by pass the stretching room ( I do this all the time) and they will direct you on where you need to go and what you need to do.

Yes talking about wdw. Thank you guys so much. Do we ask once we get up to the mansion doors? Or at the very beginning of the line?

you will go in line like normal either FP or stand by when you rich the door to go inside tell the CM there that you would like to skip the stretching room, they will tell you to go inside ( not the stretching room) and wait by the wall to your right when they let every one in the stretching room is when they will give you a white card and take you out a set of doors they will tell you to wait by the crips for anther CM they do this for people with mobility problems so you might have to hold the card they give you were a CM can see ( AKA do not put it in your pocket) this is also the exit so there are popes walking by a CM should be there ( in a few minute if they are helping someone else get on the ride ) and you will be directed to join the line ( not this might take longer then the normal stand by line, depending on if the CM just left the area to help someone with mobility problem and how much time it take them.) but it should not take longer then 5 or so minutes.

This is how it has worked for me.

I have heard of CM not letting you do this ( s0me CM say you can only skip it if you have a mobility decide but I think you should be fine, if they start to tell you no you might say my kids are just very scary of the stretching room.

I have never had a problem doing and I have not mobility problem at all.

I'll take the others words for it that you can skip it, but I'd recommend seeing if they'll we willing to do it, especially the 7 and 9 year olds. If they have terrible memories of it from the last trip, it may not be a bad thing for them to try it again and realize it's not as scary as they may remember it to be. My twins are now 9, and it scared them a little when they were younger. But I kept bringing them on it and telling them it's nothing to be scared of. They have no problems with it now, and love the ride as a whole.

my kid's are scaredy-cats. when we got in to that room, I had all of us get in to a family hug so they were looking in not out in to the room, and I let them each use glowsticks/glow bracelets. it worked for them.

Please don't use glow sticks on dark rides - they ruin it for everyone else.
and please do not turn on the flash on your camera on dark rides.

I think the PP was saying the were using them just in the stretching room and in a small circle but still it can take away form the ride for others, not sure it the glow sticks were used just for some light or the kids where waving them around. if it was just for light and held low and in between the adults other where other guess ( could still see them but not that much) then I would rather have this then a kid thought a fit and ruin the whole thing for people this way, and more then likely the ride for the family followed by a little time after.

I think we all need to balance what we need for our self/family member and the need for other guess around us and this can be very hard thing to do sometimes.

Yes, as others have said, you can skip the stretching room at WDW. Once you get through the line, tell the cast member that opens the doors that you would like to bypass the stretching room. They'll lead you through a hallway into the area where you wait to board the Doom Buggies. I have done this twice now because I had a baby and didn't want to scare him if everyone screamed when the lights went out in the stretching room. It worked like a charm both times and he enjoyed the rest of the ride.

Oh and while you're asking the cast member about blowing off the stretch room, ask if you can see the "Key Room" when the ride ends for a nice little surprise :-)

I'm so glad to read this! My 7 year old is terrified of the stretch room. We went in November and went on the ride once. She did not like the stretch room at all (but didn't mind the actual ride) and the second time we tried to go on, she freaked and I had to make a quick exit. Granted she will be a year older when we go next time but at least I know there is the possibility of skipping it if need be, and she will still be able to enjoy the ride. :)

...and the "Key room" definitely has me intrigued. ;)

Haha thats probably just my kids that call it that. Thankfully a few folks knew what I was talking about, lol.
