Favorite "Lost Ride"

Mickey Mouse Revue. I still miss this show. :sad1:

Horizons, If you had wings, and the original Journey into imagination.

The skyway. That had to be one of my favorite parts, riding that and looking down at it's a small world and dumbo. I think the biggest shame with the skyway is that nothing really replaced it. There's the new Tangled restroom now, but, it's not the same as replacing it with another ride.

For most of the others, I understand that progress had to happen to keep the park relevant for today's kids. My 2 year old loves Winnie the Pooh, so I can acknowledge that it was time for Mr Toad to go.. I don't know yet how I feel about the Snow White decision. That was an odd ride really, it was too scary for the small children who should have enjoyed it but then not that interesting to the children old enough to be no longer afraid of it. I rode it for sentimental reasons, but, it was certainly no Peter Pan.. lol

I must say I really miss the pre-Jack Sparrow POTC. I used to come out of that ride with the theme song stuck in my head all day.

There are so many that I miss. Mr. Toad for sure! I also kinda miss the old POTC. I miss the penny arcade on main st. just because it was one of the first things my father and I always made sure to do together.. I really miss the water show with Goofy water skiing when you took the ferry over to the magic kingdom.

The original Journey Into Imagination. The current Imagination ride is a confused mess.

Agree fully! I loved this ride as a kid. My DD won't even ride it. Did it once and has no desire to ever do it again. Just sad.:sad2: She loves to sing the old Dream Finder song.

Horizons and 20K were so audacious in their scope and grandeur that I doubt we'll ever see anything that ambitious again.

Alien Encounter and Mr. Toad's are two that I miss dearly, but I will never get over losing Food Rocks. I liked Kitchen Cabaret, but when Food Rocks replaced it, I thought it was an improvement. I know that Soarin' is good and all, but I will never get over losing Food Rocks. I mean, you had great songs featuring The Peach Boys, Pita Gabriel, Chubby Cheddar. It was amazing.

Mine's 20,000 Leagues, then Horizons.

If we count non-ride things, it's MK WELCOME SHOW! :sad1:

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea - It was the very first Disney ride I ever went on when I was a kid, and it was incredible!

The Skyway - A great way to get around the park and get the lay of the land. Peaceful and efficient.

Alien Encounter. - It's not often that you get to experience a thorough suspension of disbelief as an adult. This ride took you pretty darn close! A nice bolt of adrenaline to give you a bit of energy for the rest of the afternoon...

River Country - Not a ride, but a whole park. This was the first time I had ever encountered a water park. It may not have been as wild as some of the newer water parks, but it was nice swimming in fresh, unchlorinated water. The theming was excellent!

Forgive me if this is the wrong board (and please tell me where it should be!).

Talking about Swiss Family Rob got me to thinking "what's your favorite lost ride?". Could be any ride that was 'updated' to be completely different (like Test Track or the Tiki Room) or a ride that was completely removed (such as Horizons or Mr Toads Wild Adventure).

As for me? I am not sure I can point to just one... But the top of my list would be:
Alien Encounter. I like stitch, but Alien Encounter was so much more cool.
Believe it or not, "If you had wings" is up there for me (anyone remember that ride?).
World of motion. I like Test Track better, but i still miss the old WOM.
There was a show in the land that had singing, dancing food as well. I remember liking it, but don't remember much else about it.

As a side note, I wish they would do SOMETHING with that old human body pavilion. It's just sitting there looking so... sad. I never liked it, but it's keen for a new ride.
20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, without question. It was one of my favorite rides :-(

Mr Toad and the original Backlot Tour!
I loved the Backlot Tour and looking at all of the stuff stored in those cages on the way out. DW would just roll her eyes and wait outside. I loved wandering around the Streets of America yanking on door knobs... Not to mention... I imagined I was Gene Kelly "Singin' In the Rain"! Last trip, my kiddos were old enough to be both embarrassed and mimic that scene too.

Over at Epcot, I miss the pre-Ellen Energy show. But, very happy to have Mission Space. I continue to miss Mickey and Minnie's houses in Toontown -- mainly because it was the kids' favorite along with the original Barnstormer. Never got to do the Skyway. But, I do miss riding the submarines in 20,000 Leagues.

Now that the kids are old enough, I wish they still had the original animation courtyard. I caught the Robin Williams/ Walter Cronkite pre-show on youtube and my oldest would have gone head-over-heal over that attraction if he could have gone.

We're headed to WDW in July. Looking forward all the new stuff stuff though.

I miss the old version of Spaceship Earth, and as a PP noted Jeremy Iron's narration. Also Cranium Command and Food Rocks.

I would have to say it's a tie between World of Motion and Horizons. I still remember the smell of oranges when you first entered the Horizons queue. I like TT, but still pine for WOM. You can keep Mission Space and give me back Horizons :stir:

Mr Toad
Original Backlot Tour
Original Journery into Imagination!!!

Not a lost ride, but Space Mountain in Disneyland is way better than Disney World.
