New Soarin' A Little Scary?

Ugh... the distortion sitting on the sides is awful. Even slightly off center it is bad. I don't know how this meets Disney standards for show.

It completely takes you out of the feeling of being in these locations, instead of watching something on a screen.

My kids are young and said that the GCI was too much. We rode twice with them. Bottom left and middle right. They did not like it at all.
I rode by myself once in the middle top. It was a better view there, but surely digital.

I wouldn't say scary, but I think they overdid a bit trying to surprise with the scene transitions.

I like the new transitions between scenes. I was a HUGE fan of the old version and I think this new one pays a lovely homage to it. I am very disappointed in the distortion when not sitting in the center, though.

My wife said the same thing. She gets a little queasy on the new version of Soarin'..especially when we go up the Eiffel Tower, and she was able to handle the original ride without a problem.
I do not think the ride is scary at all. I do, however, fear The Mad Tea Party!!! I think I'd rather jump out of a plane than ride that attraction.

Now I'm getting nervous! LOL The first several times I rode the original, I was fine. As I got older, I started getting a little "tickle in my tummy" as DD use to say. I am another ride wimp, no roller coasters for me!

The motion sickness feeling is minimal - perhaps for a second or two, but it passes quickly. The CGI is a bit much - but tolerable. I have to agree the distortion is an issue. We rode it right center (section C), right far end (section C), and center middle (section B). The center section (section B) was by far the best view - the entire screen displayed well. Sitting in the right section resulted in distortion as others noted (straight lines, buildings, towers definitely have a curve), as well as blurriness of the scene periphery. We repeatedly saw guests request placement in section B, and after our experience if I were to return I would also request to be seated in section B, and would wait for the next show if it were an issue. For those of you new to Soaring, the reference to seating sections should not be confused with theaters - there are three theaters, labeled A, B, and C; each of those theaters has seating sections A, B and C. It doesn't matter which theater you go to, it matters which seating section you sit in :-)

We enjoyed the new Soarin' but wish Disney would have refined the video and adjusted the seating prior to relaunching. I have to agree, the experience sitting in section A or C is not up to the Disney quality we typically experience and I was disappointed with the distortion and blurriness.

I love it and don't find it the least bit scary. I didn't even notice any of the distortion that OPs are mentioning, and I rode it several times last fall. Not saying it isn't there, but I didn't see it.

I was a huge fan of the original too. IMO, the best improvement they could make would be to offer a choice between the two films. Like Concourse A and C could be the global one, and B would be California. That would be awesome.
