Summer Sparkle at HNY - Pre-trippie

It's 31 days exactly until we head off for our summer trip, so that must mean it's time to start the trip report :cool1:

We bought Annual Passes last year for our October trip and we managed a short trip on February for the Season of the Force, so I'm delighted we're fitting a 3rd trip in with our passes to enjoy some sun at Disneyland Paris. I've counted back and last time we had a summer trip was 2013 so it's long overdue ::yes::

The Cast

Me – Julie – 42
DH – John – 46
DD - Abbey - 20
DS – Lewis – 12

Eldest DS Mark is staying at home.

When:
Monday 24 July - Thursday 27 July
We're flying from Liverpool again ( I just cannot bring myself to pay £500 more to fly from Glasgow....I'd rather sit in the car for 4 hours...) Originally we were going to drive down early on Monday morning as our flight isn't until lunchtime, but we've changed that now and are driving the day before with a stop over in Manchester as Lewis wants to visit Old Trafford. Mark will be with us for that too as they're both Man U fans and he'll get the train home as we head to the airport.

Where:
The Hotel New York of course! I have a travel account at work and have used that to book a room for 1 adult using the 20% off and free half board. I'll check the rest of them in when we get there but plan to email and phone the hotel before we go to make sure we get a room with 2 beds. Really looking forward to using the pool during the day to cool down and stroll through the Village.

Plans:
EMH is on my plan and Lewis', maybe not for the other two :rotfl: and then breakfast stop at Salon Mickey (along with every other Shareholder in the park :bitelip:). Morning in parks and after lunch will head back to the hotel for a swim/rest before dinner and then late nights. I'm so looking forward to late nights in the parks, I love it lit up a night :cloud9:

Stuff we want to see/do:
Mickey and the Magician: We missed this in October (saw about 10 minutes before it stopped and every
other performance we tried to get into was cancelled last minute)
Illuminations: From what i've heard it's not Dreams but look forward to seeing it in the flesh to make my own mind up
25th Anniversary stuff - New shows, parade and decorations - that's why I love EMH, so may photo ops!
Pirates!!! - It's scheduled to open the day we arrive, fingers crossed it'll be open pirate:
Forest of Enchantment - Never seen this, something new for us to cool down in
Just being there - I've loved all the youtube videos of the park, it's looking lovely and just can't wait to be there again.

Meals:
Monday - We arrive late afternoon on our first day, so will probably be Annette's on our first night
Tuesday - Hakuna Matata for lunch, followed by a buffet for evening ( I'll have 3 hb plus vouchers so will use those and pay cash for the 4th meal. I think we'll get best value at a buffet as we don't do 3 courses very often)
Wednesday - probably a Studios day so will grab something at Blockbuster and then book Steakhouse in the Village for evening meal. We ate here in Feb for the first time and loved it.
Thursday - EOS just before we get picked up at lunchtime.

I'm all organised, everything booked/paid for, printed off with exception of flight passes which I'll be able to check in for tomorrow. Hotel is booked for Manchester too, as is Mark's train ticket home. So we've nothing much to do except wait!

Let the countdown begin :jumping1:

Bit of worry this week - seen some comments about problems adding others at check-in, using the AP route. I contacted DLP and got an email back to say that they've noted the booking and that we'll have a room with 2 double beds. I think I'll probably phone the hotel the week before we go just to try and make sure.

Anyway, aside from that slight wobble, I phoned and booked our restaurants. We decided on a buffet to use our 3 h/b voucers, paying for 1 meal. I thought it would be easier to use them this way instead of using face value at the Steakhouse, so I've booked Plaza Gardens for our second night and Steakhouse for the last night.

We weren't fully happy with the HNY buffet the last time, food seems to have changed quite a bit. I thought it was ok but DH doesn't want to go back so Abbey suggested Plaza Gardens because she's always wanted to eat there. Other than a character breakfast years ago we've never ate a meal here.

Considering whether to bother with a full trip report when I get back....it takes ages and I only really do it for myself to read back on. But yesterday I discovered that photobucket have blocked all the photo sharing I've got on previous trip reports and it's made me so sad :sad1: I love reading my old trip reports and without the photos it's just not the same. I might take a look and see where else I can host them, but I won't be able to re-do the previous ones. Oh well, I've created albums and photo books with our trips so I have a hard copy - just not the story to go with them. I might print off the narrative on the trip reports and keep them with our albums. Back to the old days of keeping paper copies :faint:

Just as well I have a holiday to DLP to look forward to :goodvibes

Oooh looks like an exciting trip! I do hope you do a trip report, as I'd be following along, though the photobucket thing sounds a pain.
We've booked our first ever trip to DLP and HNY for 5 days in September, so I'd be interested to see what you get up to.
I'm based in Manchester too, so if you need any tips on your stop there, just let me know ^.^

Hiya Ms Poppins! My sister and I absolutely love reading your trip reports! Hope you have a magical holiday! :)

Aww, thank you! I think I've figured out how to load photos direct so will give it a bash ;)

We've done HNY many times and love it there, hope you enjoy it too.

Thanks for your offer of help re Manchester. We've been a few times but don't normally stay in the city centre. This time we're staying near Piccadilly station so a bit worried about navigating from there to Liverpool Airport on a Monday morning. I'm giving us 2 hours which should be more than enough time. Will also be seeking a cinema within walking distance on Sunday night, think I've found one at the printworks? Does that seem right? Thank you :goodvibes

Do a trip report. I love reading them I learn so much from trip reports

That's us all packed up and ready for the off tomorrow morning :cheer2:

Excited now that I've seen some twitter posts of Pirates open and really looking forward to being back again.

Hopefully we'll have some dry weather, it's been dull and raining the past few days so some sun would be lovely :sunny:

Hope you're having a blast!
Let us know how you got on adding the others to the hotel. I rang up and booked NY for Nov with the AP discount just for one adult. I asked her to make sure it had 2 beds as I might be taking the kids but not sure yet...:rotfl2: She said it was a room with 2 beds, but I'll be emailing the hotel the week before we go, just to make sure.

Day 2 and having a great time. No issues whatsoever adding guests at check in. Paid just over 22 euros to add 3 adults for 3 nights. No hassle at all.

That's great. I wonder though if I upgrade to the Empire State Club would it still be ok to add extra guests seeing as breakfast is then included?
