Noticed in the chat again today a lot of irrelevant questions. I also noticed that the team are getting rather annoyed with all the talk re "where is Olly?" etc. and it's just creating a lot more work for the mods on YouTube (such as Jackie) who have to delete the spam. (Thanks to the YouTube mods, you do a great job!)

Also, whoever was running the DISUnplugged account in chat today has said any more talk on the subject will lead to the chatterati being disabled for future episodes. I'd take that as a final warning.

So a little request from me (and i'm sure a lot of other viewers too.), for those of you spamming the chat, please stop it. I, for one, love the chat between viewers if it relevant to the topic being discussed on the show, but the irrelevant spam is taking up a lot of the feed recently.

For those who are interested as to what Olly is doing now and don't already know; he now works for Universal and also has his own vlog channel - This Orlando Life - where he does weekly vlogs with his husband, and usually JL or another friend.
 
Unfortunately that is just what seems to happen with Youtube chats. Its not just the DIS its everything. I don't see it stopping.

Unfortunately that is the sad truth. I don't see it stopping either, which is going to inevitably lead to the chat being disabled :(

I think peoples obsession is more about the mystery that he just left with no mention (although it really isn't a mystery if you follow him on social).

Yep, maybe the genuine enquirer hadn't been watching since Olly left or something. I noticed that, and also some of the requests are from the same users every week. 90+% of it is definitely spam.

I'm pretty sure the team can block users from commenting, so hope that is tried before chat is disabled all together. Another option is 'slow chat' which limits users to posting one message per minute. That may help a bit.

But i know where he went, so I'm not spamming chat, haha

Anyho, pretty sure the people spamming chat are just doing it to get a reaction. And others may genuinely not watch the show(s) every week, so they don't know.

There's still people who wonder where JL is, because her only mention of leaving was on the Universal Show, and not everyone watches that or reads the boards.

Just sayin. It's bound to happen on chat when you get a lot of random people.

I personally don't like the live chat because it's too distracting from the show. Also, I listen/watch later anyway.
 
I will say that when I used to mod a Disney chat on MSN years ago, we could automatically put "specs" on people coming in. This let them READ chat, but not TALK. We could enable/disable as we saw fit, and we had different standards for doing so. I would auto "spec" any "newbies and unknowns" to me, then unspec after a canned warning I would send that if they disrespected the "freedom", I'd respec. I'd usually give them 2 chances, then keep spec'd, and sometime boot or ban all together.

I did have to keep careful track of ISP info (drawing total mental blank on technical term @ the moment, but was an individual unique numerical identifier to prevent peeps from being banned as one name, logging off, creating another identify, logging back on,) but it was worth it. Of course there were many fewer peeps than probably show up on YouTube now (my biggest chatterati was prob about 40 or so), but it was also just me doing it.
