I got a ressie for Nov 16, which should be Christmas theme by then.

How is it?

What's it like?

We are paying out of pocket (not on dining plan), so want to see if I should keep it.

I'm thinking it would be nice to do something holiday- related besides MK (and I don't think EP or AK will have much until after tgiving), so any and all details would help!

Thanks!! :santa:

We ate there two years ago when they first started it. It wasn't bad with all the characters. It was your typical buffet style meal.

Food was fine. We went two years ago, and I found something good on the buffet and went back for seconds. The character interaction was good too. We got a signature card, they didn't sign the kids' autograph books. We are going to do it again this year, just before Thanksgiving.

We've done this dinner the last two years. Hollywood & Vine has become a staple of our longer trips after they transitioned over to the seasonal offerings. The food is a standard buffet with special, seasonal desserts. We definitely go for the characters and the special outfits. You also get the "Santa Goofy" picture without having to wait in a huge line elsewhere in the parks.

Thank you for your input.

Do any of you remember any other details, like decorations or music?

YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!! And overpriced to boot. Run far away.

Really expensive, chaotic and bad food. If you want pictures of the characters in Christmas costumes, that's what you'll get. If you want good food, go somewhere else!

Yep, I second these opinions. We ate there 2 years ago too. The food was not that good. My DH is a steak & potatoes guy. He basically ate a very expensive salad.

It is probably better for families with little kids looking to maximize character time. Not so great for adults who actually want an edible meal along with characters & atmosphere.

We have very young kids (two toddlers) and did it a few times (Hollywood theme and Spring theme).

We were planning to do both the Halloween and Christmas one, but finally cancelled both ADR.

The theming is really cool, the outfits are great, some of the food is really good, but overall, it is very expensive if you pay out of pocket.

On the dining plan, it would be a no brainer for us. Out of pocket : we'll pass.

We went two years ago on the very first night of the Holiday Dine and we thought it was really good. One of the best buffets we have done. I'm sure the menu changes up some, but when we were there there were at least 5-7 different main dish meats (the steak was the best - I think it was some sort of flank steak), tons of side dishes, a large "kid" food section and a huge desert buffet. We really enjoyed it.

Hmmm. I will need to talk about this with DH. We will probably only plan 1-2 character meals for the week. I love the idea of a holiday theme (since we will be there before tgiving and there won't be much out yet), but not sure we will want to fork over that much cash.

Thanks everyone for writing in!

I went last december. The food was ok, not as bad as some say, not as great as some say. It was edible and well prepared for what it was. I did a great detailed review with photos but was using photobucket, so the photos are gone now... but you inspired me to start fixing the photos and I started with this review. You can see photos of the food, character interaction and some of the decor in the background.

the costumes were great, and the character interaction was the best of the trip (I have read that before but figured it was a fluke for certain people, but the character interaction was GREAT here). We did it with fantasmic package for 1 TS so price didn't matter and it was a good value. It was a great night with that combo. No it was not our best meal based on food only but I would do it again at xmastime.

Here is a direct link to that review in particular so you don't have to wade through a long review with lots of broken pictures:

What's it like?

1) The characters are in holiday dress.
2) There is little changed on the menu . . . with the exception of some "Christmas Cookies".
3) ONLY YOU can determine if the price difference is worth it.
