In Room H2O Products Now in Large Shareable Bottles?!

When I walk into our room, I wipe down our doorknobs, remote control, water knobs and anything other hard surface that I would normally touch. I use hospital wipes.

If our room has these cheap mega bottles that use a pump, I will not be using them. Sorry, but I don't know the last person that used it or what they touched prior to pumping. And I have no way to clean it.

I just returned from a two week trip to Europe. We spent one week in Paris and our hotel had the mounted wall bottles. This was not a budget hotel by any means. We actually had no problems with the bottles. My husband was actually thrilled as he thought it was a great idea. The bottles were very clean and didn't show any signs of mold or dirt. We tend to leave the shower door open so it can drive out throughout the day. Personally, I always bring my own products on vacation as the little bottles are never enough product for me and I don't always like the scent.

I can understand why people are upset, but this will not really affect me. I can't be bothered to worry about the possible germs on these dispensers while on vacation. But I also do not wipe down the doorknobs, remote, etc as I think that is overkill. I wash my hands before eating and drinking and certainly after the parks, riding the bus, bathroom, etc and hope for the best. Personally, I am more worried about catching something from the airplane as we all know those things can be gross.

I love the Sea Marine scent over the grapefruit/orange scent.
I love the Sea Marine and I know that the YC/BC just switched out the Grapefruit/Orange as well (I think it was May/June of this year to the 2 oz Sea Marine/Sea Salt) so I can't imagine that they would swap again to the shareable bottles?

Are there really that many people who don't bring their own shower stuff? Are there people relying on the little souvenir soap stuff for their bathing needs while on vacation? I couldn't imagine doing that myself.

I have a general rule of thumb when traveling with shampoo & soap:

- long weekends - use their stuff
- a week or more - bring my own

I'm not picky - nor am I a germaphobe - unless someone sneezes directly on me or something like that.

My gym has communal soap & shampoo dispensers (hypo allergenic & organic I think), which I use every time I'm there (about 5x\week). I don't have to buy shampoo\shower soap as frequently for myself at home as I used to do.

This new soap dispensing will be just like my gym - so I'll have no problem with it.

I bring the little bottles home now, if I haven't used it - as I kind of feel guilty not taking them.

We (someone other than me) are guilty of re-cleaning the showers\tubs when we first arrive - even though we had a family member who worked in mousekeeping when she was in the college program who swore up & down that they thoroughly clean after each new occupant).

Just like I won't purchase personal items from a store that have the seal broken..... won't ever use this. I think it's gross using bottles that others have used! :crazy2:
I get that it saves money, etc for Disney.... As long as somewhere down the line it saves the guests money!!! and I don't see that happening.... Disney will pocket the savings.

Me too!!!! especially the remote! that is the grossest thing in the room that housekeeping never cleans!!!!!! :crazy2: Actually I call down and request a "new and clean" remote!!!

What makes you think the replacement remote would be clean?

the only way to be sure if something is truly clean is to clean it yourself.

For those of you who are skeeved by using dispensers that others have used, how do you wash your hands when you use a public restroom?

I use the soap dispenser in the ladies' room at work several times a day. Never occurrred to me to be horrified that other women use the same dispenser.

As a person with thick long hair, I can go through those sample bottles pretty quickly on my own, much less sharing with the rest of the family, so I am all over a ever-ending supply of H2O, which I love!

Plus I am all for cutting down on waste. I am willing to give up collecting the bottles and bringing them home. I can and have purchased H2O when I need a Disney fix at home.

Most people washing their hands at work, aren't washing their bottoms (or fronts.)

As gross as people can be in public, they can be absolutely disgusting in private. I won't want to know what else might have touched that shelf in the shower. Or how haphazardly someone has showered.

If these end up everywhere, I will start packing bleach spray and I'll spray down the area.

Disney saving money isn't always a bad thing. They are investing more and more money into the parks and resorts than ever. Would you rather have the ticket prices go up? Disney doing things like this prevents that if it is true that they are doing this to save money (which we are still assuming).

Everybody has a budget.

I think the idea is that the people use the bathroom, wipe themselves with toilet paper and then touch the soap dispenser to wash their hands before you touch it.

IMO worse than a private bathroom that gets wiped down daily before you use it because of possible feces on the dispensers.

I'm pretty sure ticket prices will still go up.

I agree. Ticket increases are definitely inevitable. I guess further hotel rate increases would be a better situation that Disney would have to cut a budget for. The Skyliner is definitely not going to be cheap.

There is no reason to believe savings in this area will offset increases anywhere else (including resort rates). It could just as easily be used as additional profits.

At PO, the test resort, are the bottles wall mounted at adult height? Are they towards the inside wall of the tub area insofar as they are difficult to reach from outside the tub?

Consider this, Disney: How long before a suit is filed because Mom or Dad is giving junior a bath, had to stand up to get a pump or two of shampoo, or lather up shower gel on the wash cloth and slips and falls trying to reach the products or junior slips in bathtub because mom or dad had to divert attention for a moment?? Someone out there is waiting for, this to happen, unfortunately.

I bring my own shampoo and conditioner, as does DD but Disney better stock up on washcloths! When a family of 4 travels to Disney together, 2 showers a day is not unreasonable and that may mean 2 washcloths per person, per day. We usually are supplied 2 - maybe. MUCH prefer soap at Disney. Their h2o Shower gel usually doesn't cut it.
