Help a very sad girl out please!

I have been so terribly sad for two weeks now. My outdoor wedding was a soggy mess because of the remnants of Harvey but we made lemonade and had a wonderful day. One of the things that made the day better was the thought that I would be celebrating my honeymoon and birthday in Disneyworld. Until Irma decided differently. We cancelled our trip hours before we were to fly out because the cone of uncertainty was just too wide and we had to make a decision to call it. While my fantastic new husband booked a trip to Hawaii for us, my heart was still broken (we did have a lovely time though).

The only thing that is going to make this lingering sad go away is to plan another trip and that's what I'm going to do. It has to be a date not in hurricane season (my poor heart and husband couldn't take that level of disappointment again.), at least six months away so I can book dining and not too hot. Can you kind folks tell me about Christmas? Do you feel its a good time to go? I was thinking a week in the first half of the month. Are the crowds manageable? Is everything decorated by then and the christmas party going? I'd love to hear some honest opinions from people who have experience or if you could suggest another time, I'd appreciate it. If I have to go into Spring 2019 I could but I don't know if I can wait that long! :) If you have other suggestions, I'll take those too!

Also, do you think it would be okay if I wore my wedding ears and said we were celebrating our honeymoon? I made pairs for my husband and myself. I know we'd will have been married a year but I've always wanted a disney honeymoon. I don't want to lie to anyone but I would love to have the experience albeit late.

Thanks for your help guys! It took me over two weeks to log back on to the boards but I'm ready to talk some mouse! :)

Christmas time is my FAVORITE time to to go DW! Everything is decorated so nicely and the weather is usually pretty good! All the decorations finish going up right around thanksgiving so anytime in December everything will be set up. (I find it hard to go at any other time because I know it won't be Christmas-y :sad2:)

I say WEAR THOSE EARS! No one will come after you if it isn't actually your honeymoon. Even if it is late, you are still celebrating it!

We went Nov 28-Dec 5 last year and it was probably one of our best experiences. Crowd and weather were good. Christmas decorations start to come up shortly after Halloween so they're in full effect by beginning of Dec, same with the Christmas parties. We've tried Mid/late October, Mid November and I think if we get to choose we'd do early December again.

Also absolutely wear those wedding ears. The hurricane just postponed your Disneyworld honeymoon trip, it didn't cancel it.

DW and I married on a Saturday. She unexpectedly had to work on the following Tuesday. We had two honeymoons--Saturday until Monday, and Wednesday until Sunday. Who said you are limited to one honeymoon.

I agree with the first week of December. We went last year. It was busy, but not at all unbearable crowd wise. We had a full range of weather. Nice 60-70 degree weather. Upper 80s one day. A little cool and rainy towards the end of our trip.

The first two weeks of December are WONDERFUL! I've gone both and they are both great. It was warm last year, in the mid 80's. The crowds are totally manageable and everything is decorated.

and girl, WEAR THOSE EARS! :) I think people would be thrilled to hear that you are celebrating despite Irma!

We got married May 2 (8 years ago). I am a teacher so we went to Aruba for our honeymoon after school got out in June. Then in October, we took a Disneymoon to WDW- ears and all. I think you are totally fine- go for it!

I go that time in December every year and it is wonderful and magical. I feel much much better than September. Go an enjoy!

Love Christmas time and we always go the first week of December.

There are not only decorations everywhere, but special holiday shows, too. Infact, there are some new things added this year.

We got married in May of 2016 but couldn't go on our Honeymoon to Disney until August because of my husband's work schedule. I wore my custom Honeymoon ears, shirts and pins. Doesn't matter if it was 3 months later, we were still celebrating our Honeymoon! Enjoy!! :)

I go the week after Thanksgiving every year and have an awesome time. I don't find the crowds all that bad and the Christmas decorations are beautiful. Christmas Around the World-or whatever they're calling it now--is really cool. I think you'll love going to WDW at that time of year.

Definitely wear the ears! It's your anniversary honeymoon. Or close to it. :D

Lets see, you canceled a Disney trip, went to Hawaii, re-doing Disney. First world problems! LOL!!

Seriously though, it stinks that Irma ruined your plans. Just think, you have a great story to tell! We have friends who got married in the middle of a hurricane and they joke about it to this day and they have been married for over 30 years.

Christmas at Disney is a wonderful time to go. It is very magical, I would plan for that if I were you. The decorations are amazing, the weather is great. And by all means, wear those ears. You earned them!!

Early December is when I would like to go to Disney, but unfortunately my job does not allow time off between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

GO, wear your ears, and have a wonderful time!

Yes, yes, indeed! The first two weeks of December are a fantastic time to go, and of course you should wear your ears!

We have gone shortly after Christmas for a number of years in a row. The parks are quite crowded then, but if you can live with that, it is fine. The atmosphere is generally quite nice. With FastPass, you can go on almost all of the attractions you want, and there tend to be "Extra Magic Hours" in one park each day--sometimes one early and one late on the same day. There are special perks like cookies and hot chocolate, and special entertainers.

Early December would be an even better time to go from the standpoint of the number of people in the parks--noticeably fewer. On the other hand, there may not be as many Extra Magic Hours, or special perks.

I'd recommended having some dining reservations in any event.

Plus, I think you are totally entitled to wear the Bride Minnie ears and say that it is your honeymoon. The double whammy with the hurricanes more than justifies that.

Thank you guys! I really appreciate the input. It sounds like the beginning of December is the way to go.

And I will wear my ears too! It'll be my Disney honeymoon that I wanted after all!

Wow. The title of this thread made me think you had a real problem. :confused3

Congratulations on your recent wedding to a fantastic man and your lovely Hawaiian honeymoon. Have fun on your next Disney trip.

Unless you know the world was ending and could never get back to Disnery I'd say...."let it go, let it go, I'm one with the wind and skyyyy...."
