Four Seasons Orlando - Worth it for 1 night?

So here is the deal: we have a day in Orlando after we get back from a cruise on 12/23. I was too chicken to book a same day flight back (which seems pretty common, but the flight selection for us wasn't great and frankly, I don't want to risk missing a flight during this time of year with 5 of us). Anyhow -- we have 1 day in Orlando. Looking for something not Disney and a nice way to unwind from the cruise (heh...).

I kicked around Universal Studios but I'm guessing it will be a zoo. So I've been looking at Four Seasons Orlando. The cost of the room is steep, but actually is cheaper than a hotel + theme park tickets for the five of us, and has great reviews. It also seems to have a lot to do for families. We have an 8 year-old and 2 five-year olds.

Has anyone stayed here? Is it worth the price for just one day before we fly back home the next morning? Is there anything special around Christmas (aside from the decorations, which look lovely)?

I appreciate any feedback here. Thanks!

I would do that in the summer for its water attractions, but not in December.

Instead I would recommend Cabana Bay in a family suite. You have a bowling alley in the hotel, you can shuttle over to Citywalk for a host of restaurants, movies, shows and minigolf.

Or I would stay at Saratoga Springs or one of the Disney Springs hotels to walk around there. This would give you more to do and cost less.

I could have spent 3 weeks there !!!!! at four seasons. But then I am the only one that loves four seasons on this thread.

I loved the Four Seasons. They have a great Kids Club program to keep the kids happy while you hang out at the spa, pool, golf course....
I honestly wish we had spent more time at the Four Season and less time at the parks.
We were there in November and it was still warm enough to do the lazy river and pool and water slide.

And the beds were so so comfortable.

I spent a couple of nights in December at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. for an extra $20/room resort fee, all the amenities are included. We loved being able to mess around with the paddleboats, aquatrike, kayaks, canoes, tennis courts, rock climbing, pitch n putt golf course, etc etc for no extra costs. pool area was also beautiful. We've stayed there 2x now and loved it both times.

there is no question its the best resort in Orlando (cue the hate )

Not worth in DECEMBER. Look at Gaylord Palms instead. I am staying there for one night on Dec 24th, checking out Dec 25th.

I did stay at the Four Seasons for my JULY birthday in 2016. It was fabulous!
I hardly think Gaylord Palms is comparable to Four Seasons. I do not think much of Ritz Carlton and Marriott in General

you would have to get two rooms

Totally agree. I love the Disney resorts but 4S is a step up even over the GF. It's truly a destination unto itself .
The water features are all heated and their activity program is excellent but in cooler or bad weather you might not get the most out of it. I'd still stay there if it was in the budget because it's just that good.

The Universal City Walk is a good idea. A Universal resort to walk to/from City Walk would be my preference. I have stayed at both Royal Pacific and Portofino Bay. Both are great!

Universal City Walk is definitely a possibility. I had a conference there last year (by myself) and loved it, and want to take the kids. Might be what I go with if I decide against 4S.

We actually stayed at Gaylord Palms last December for 2 nights. I typically stay at Marriott resorts and have Gold status with them but I was very displeased with Gaylord Palms, unfortunately. It was not a good experience. The weather was just fine for swimming, though it was a couple of weeks earlier than our trip this year.

Given the feedback here, I might just call 4S and see what their situation usually is in December and what else they have if it gets too chilly for their pools. We had no issues swimming outdoors last December, but weather is always a risk in the winter, even in FL. I think Universal Studios might be the other one I'll look hard at. We don't want to do the actual park, but I thought even just the city walk was pretty awesome when I was there.
