Let the Wookiee Win: An August Solo Adventure! *Updated 11/17*

It's been a while since I've last updated, but... school.

One word. School. We understand.

When last we left off, I had just disembarked from my Frozen voyage after a mere 35 minute wait.

Still can't believe that wait time.

Also, it appears that I was pretty serious about not letting my bag get wet either.

::yes::

Noticed that.

See the solo rider behind me? I kept trying to engage him in conversation throughout the queue but also... eventually just let it go, as he wasn't feeling my friendliness. :confused3

"I finally get away from the wife and kids and some random girl is trying to talk to me!"

I have yet to dine here but it's high on my list! Anyone else have opinions about San Angel?

Sorry. Never been.

On my way back over to Norway, I saw this little creature.

disney-august-2017-154-jpg.278493

Ooooh... Is that a dragon??

While in Norway, I decided I needed a little snack to hold me over until my ADR over at DHS a little later. Guess what I settled on?

Something with coconut.

:crazy2:

After my snack, I headed for China and decided to see the movie, which was due to start in less than ten minutes.

I finally saw that.
I really enjoyed it too.

Maybe not the narration,
but the cinematography.

See, @Raeven, not only am I no match for your superior selfies, I can't even manage to keep my finger out of this shot, and it wasn't even a selfie!

Happens to the best of us.

I saw a PP photographer just standing randomly near the benches inside and I said hello and asked him how he was doing and he kinda snapped back "what can I help you with?". I guess not a photo, sheesh!

That's when you take out your phone,
look at his (or her) name tag and pretend to take notes.

Couldn't hurt to take a picture of the name tag, too.

Anyway, I enjoyed the movie and headed back outside to grab a peach bubble tea from Joy of Tea. I had this at the Flower and Garden festival a couple years ago and remembered really liking it. This did not disappoint!

This sounds good!
I'll have to remember that.

Not a bad view, is it? :cloud9:

::yes::

I did some of what I love best in this world: wander aimlessly through World Showcase :goodvibes

Yes! Love that!

To wrap this update, here's a magic shot I kinda love! I do love me some Tink!

_epcot-jpg.278502

Me too! Great shot!!

Anyone else have opinions about San Angel?
DH and I have only been one time, but we really enjoyed the atmosphere. Unfortunately, I was sick with a fever at the time, so I had the avocado magarita ('cause of course you drink when you have a fever!) and the tortilla soup (my name, not theirs), I remember liking this-but adding hot sauce!

_frozen-jpg.278497

I'm tellin ya, these solo PP photos are an endless source of entertainment for me. Not only do I enjoy my very uncharacteristically "chill" shots, but I enjoy everyone else on the ride even more! See the solo rider behind me? I kept trying to engage him in conversation throughout the queue but also... eventually just let it go, as he wasn't feeling my friendliness. :confused3 He does look like he was enjoying himself on the ride at least, bless him.
Too funny. 1. I was wondering why they did't seat you together, but 2. now thankful for you that that didn't. He is putting off a total snow queen vibe

From there, I doubled back to Mexico and, of course, hit up the boat ride which I actually started writing out as El Rio del Tiempo. :rolleyes1 Old habits...

disney-august-2017-147-jpg.278487
I forgot this used to be the name. I also forgot that it even had a name. I think its just the boat wide in mexico to us. Don't think I could come up with its name if my life depended on it

I have yet to dine here but it's high on my list! Anyone else have opinions about San Angel?
We've done it a few time and have enjoyed it. The food isn't spectacular by any stretch of the imagination, but you can't beat the ambiance or margaritas from La Cava without the wait :-)

disney-august-2017-159-jpg.278496

Yup... school bread. I've always loved this but I think I'll try something else next time, this wasn't quite as good as I remember but maybe I just had an off day as it was super dry.
Sorry this was a bust. Must have been an off day.

To wrap this update, here's a magic shot I kinda love! I do love me some Tink!

And your face says noting but that! This is perfection!

We have tried San Angel Inn and it was very good and we had the nicest waiter there. I see many mixed reviews but we enjoyed it!

We have never done the movie in China, one of these times, the bubble tea looks yummy!

Sorry your School bread was dry, I have tried this once and mine was really good. Sounds like a fun trip around the world!

::yes::

Noticed that.
:rotfl: I hate a wet bag!

"I finally get away from the wife and kids and some random girl is trying to talk to me!"
:rotfl2: Never even considered that... and here I was, being that annoying random girl! Hey, I've had lots of practice at that!

Ooooh... Is that a dragon??
Yep, just a baby one, though.

Something with coconut.

:crazy2:
Sorry for the picture! :sad2:

I finally saw that.
I really enjoyed it too.

Maybe not the narration,
but the cinematography.
Yeah, it really is awesome, love the 360 views.

That's when you take out your phone,
look at his (or her) name tag and pretend to take notes.

Thanks!

The atmosphere definitely looks like so much fun, and worth it for that alone. Yes, of course you drink when you have a fever! ;)

Too funny. 1. I was wondering why they did't seat you together, but 2. now thankful for you that that didn't. He is putting off a total snow queen vibe
Right?!

I forgot this used to be the name. I also forgot that it even had a name. I think its just the boat wide in mexico to us. Don't think I could come up with its name if my life depended on it
Yeah... I think "the boat ride is Mexico" is now the official name :thumbsup2;)

We've done it a few time and have enjoyed it. The food isn't spectacular by any stretch of the imagination, but you can't beat the ambiance or margaritas from La Cava without the wait :-)
Good point!:thumbsup2

Sorry this was a bust. Must have been an off day.
I agree, as I've had plenty of experiences where I could have easily scarfed up two at a time!

And your face says noting but that! This is perfection!
Aww, thanks :goodvibes

We have tried San Angel Inn and it was very good and we had the nicest waiter there. I see many mixed reviews but we enjoyed it!
Glad to hear it!

Sorry your School bread was dry, I have tried this once and mine was really good.
I've really loved this in the past, so I'm thinking I must have just had an off day.

Sounds like a fun trip around the world!
It really was! :goodvibes

I always hear tons of mixed reviews of the school bread. It looks yummy, though. But there are so many other things at that bakery I want to try too.

Super cute photo!

Btw, next time you get your finger in a photo, maybe you shouldn't mention it? I totally didn't notice until I saw what you wrote! LOL! :rotfl:

Hello, friends! It's been a while since I've last updated, but... school.

Girl, I feel ya. I've been away for months!

He does look like he was enjoying himself on the ride at least, bless him.

Aw, he is a cutey. Maybe he was intimated by your good looks!

I have yet to dine here but it's high on my list! Anyone else have opinions about San Angel?

Oooh I want to know too! I can't remember, but we may have an ADR there coming up in January.

Yeah, from the picture it looks really dry :sad2: That's unfortunate.

So cute!

Also, it appears that I was pretty serious about not letting my bag get wet either.

:rotfl: I use mine as a shield.

I have yet to dine here but it's high on my list! Anyone else have opinions about San Angel?

We ate there and the food wasn't that great, but the restaurant is cool. Drinks and apps were good, the meal was eh.

See, @Raeven, not only am I no match for your superior selfies, I can't even manage to keep my finger out of this shot, and it wasn't even a selfie!

It's so hard when the sun's out and you can't see what you're taking a picture of, I do that too sometimes!

It really is yummy... usually. But you're right - there are SO many other things at that bakery I want to try, too ::yes::

Super cute photo!
Aww, thanks! :goodvibes

Yay, so happy to see you back!

 Or my aggressive chattiness :rotfl2:

Oooh I want to know too! I can't remember, but we may have an ADR there coming up in January.
You'll have to let us know! :thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes

I think maybe the atmosphere will make it worth it for me... and maybe sticking to drinks and apps :thumbsup2 ;)

It's so hard when the sun's out and you can't see what you're taking a picture of, I do that too sometimes!
Thank you for making excuses for me :thumbsup2

... See the solo rider behind me? I kept trying to engage him in conversation throughout the queue but also... eventually just let it go, as he wasn't feeling my friendliness.

I wish I had the luck to run into you on a solo trip! I tend to be on the quieter side and not strike up conversations as I don't want to bother people (AND its rare to be in line next to someone else solo, even on single rider lines AND if so, they're usually buried in their phones). I know I would have enjoyed chatting in line.

...Anyone else have opinions about San Angel?

San Angel used to be a "must do" for us, and I'd still recommend it. But a few trips ago, we went lagoon-side and tried La Hacienda de San Angel and haven't been back to San Angel Inn since. La Hacienda as a couple shareable platters for two to die for. The steak version is called La Hacienda and the seafood version is Del Mar. Of course, those two platters wouldn't work when you go solo, but I've seen some good looking food come out. San Angel is good too, but its best if you can snag a river table as other tables are packed in really tight and sometimes you get stuck in kitchen traffic.

With bubble tea in hand, I did some of what I love best in this world: wander aimlessly through World Showcase :goodvibes

Not necessarily with bubble tea, but that is one of my favorite activities as well: wander World Showcase. I also enjoy occasionally finding a bench and watching people go by there. As far as wandering World Showcase, its especially fun at or after dark. Rather than finding a spot for Illuminations, I'll just keep walking around the loop until about 5 minutes before it starts and watch from wherever I happen to be (as long as the breeze isn't hitting me in the face). Of course it helps that I'm about 6', so someone in front of me generally isn't an issue.

To wrap this update, here's a magic shot I kinda love! I do love me some Tink!

Cool picture! Disney should use that for promotional purposes. (Of course, it would help if they'd throw some tix your way for compensation)

Love the update!

BTW, I have that same tee shirt!

I have ate at San Angel Inn, its very good but very dark! haha I had a hard time reading the menu and well, eating.

Aww, at least that Tink pic makes up for the photographer who couldn't be bothered to even take your picture!!!

Your solo ride shots are pretty incredible so far :) Can't wait to see what else you've got in store!!

I tried school bread once. That was enough.
lol
I usually ALWAYS get Lefse. so good and sweet. We eat Lefse around Christmas time with butter and meatballs. Both ways are SO GOOD!!! My husbands mom was Norwegian. We also always buy a troll in the store.

That bubble tea sounds so yummy! I need to try it- never have. And it isn't prevalent around here.

I wish I had the luck to run into you on a solo trip!
Likewise, my friend! We'd have ourselves a great time in line :thumbsup2

San Angel is good too, but its best if you can snag a river table as other tables are packed in really tight and sometimes you get stuck in kitchen traffic.
Yes, I suppose the table placement is make or break for this restaurant!

but that is one of my favorite activities as well: wander World Showcase.
It really is the best, isn't it? :cloud9:

Ha! This is actually my strategy, too! I just love wandering WS at dark... and I find I get more out of that than just chilling in one spot awaiting Illuminations, as I find many spots are perfectly fine for me :goodvibes

Of course it helps that I'm about 6', so someone in front of me generally isn't an issue.

Thank you! :goodvibes

Target?! ;) You just never know when you might find a good Disney shirt :thumbsup2

True!

It's DELICIOUS!!! There are a few places around here that I can get bubble tea, but I usually can only justify the pricetag whilst at Disney ;)

Maybe someday, you never know...next solo for me is March 16-22 (hint, hint). That's 143 days, not that I'm counting.
Dang it, I'll be wrapping up my Spring semester that week :faint: Hey, I think every proud Diser must know the countdown... I think they revoke our membership if we don't know it off the tops of our heads ::yes:: ;)

Are you on trimesters or something? Most schools are in or just coming out of spring break that week. I think my kids have their break the first week in March and finish the first week in May.
