Last Minute Trip Prep To Do Lists?

Hi, all!

I was trying to put together my to do list for the final few days we have before we leave for the World (WOO HOO!!!) and I realized I might be missing something others have thought of. I have things like cleaning out the fridge to make sure nothing goes bad while we're gone or cleaning my purse to help me travel a bit lighter, but what are some other "last minute to do's" that folks here have?

Thanks for the input!

We turn off the water at the main, lower the temperature on our hot water heater and house. Stop the mail, take an extra pair of car keys and put it in a separate suitcase. Hide one house key outside. Hide all checks and credit cards and all spare car keys.

In addition to what the PP said, we stop the newspaper, arrange for someone to shovel the snow in case it snows while we're away (we're in Canada so the snow will be starting any time!), have someone pick up the mail for you if you don't stop it, set the timers for your lamps, have your emergency contact know where you're staying and how to get a hold of you (i also include them having a photocopy of our passport when we're traveling out of country). Also call your credit card company and let them know you're going to be traveling, and make sure your travel insurance is all set (more relevant if you're traveling out of country).

Will you be driving on a toll road? Bring quarters. Have park tix? Copy the back so they can be replaced if lost.Plus, all of the above.

Before driving to airport...

Do I have Flight & Park Tickets, Hotel confirm and rental confirm?
Do I have Medications?
Do I have identification?
Do I have forms of payment?
Do I have phone?
Turn off water and lock doors.

Trust in your preps to this point because everything else can be bought.

This is all awesome! Thanks!

I don't think I've ever turned off the water...in fact, I'm more likely to keep the faucet on in case the power goes out. I wouldn't want the pipes inside the home to freeze (because even if the water is turned off, there's still water IN the pipes)

We live in an apartment, so we can't turn it off. We can leave it dripping, though, to keep the water moving just in case!

charge all tablets, download shows/movies/games we will want on plane when we don't have WiFi. Have external charger charged.
