Please explain Amazon Prime Now for groceries

Usually run over and grab our own stuff from Win Dixie or similar but considering staying put and using Amazon Prime Now. Can someone explain in short term how it works? From what I can tell, put in the Orlando zip, pick groceries to order and checkout using the Disney Hotel address/location. Is it that simple?

Just looking for water, milk, breakfast items and snacks as an example.

Thx
Tony

You order via the prime now app. Prices are not too bad. They give you a delivery window of when they can show up. You can also pay something like $8 to have it within an hour. It gets delivered to the front of the hotel. If there is cold or valuable items, You have to be there to pick it up. It is typically nice to tip a bit, too.

I used them last week at OKW. Prices were good, selection was adequate. I met the delivery guy at the Hospitality area, and had Bell Services load the stuff into a van and deliver it (and me) to the room, as I didn't want to carry a 24 pack of water, and other groceries. It was great. I did pay the extra for the 1 hour delivery, as we had other items on our agenda. You can track the delivery in the app, showing where your delivery driver is. For address line 1 use something like:
your name-guest-OKW
and for line 2 use the resort address.

Fresh fruits, like Bananas will be sold by the bunch. In our bunch we got 6 really nice bananas, and I ordered some fresh blueberries for our cereal. Both fresh fruits were of excellent quality.

We used it at Beach Club (resort not DVC) in September. I had my order in my cart, then when we landed at the airport, I submitted the order. It was waiting for us at the front desk! I will absolutely use it next time.

Did you get charged a handling fee by Disney, like $5? I had heard differing reports on the boards: some say no charge if it goes to bell services, while others say $5 charge if it gets delivered/handled by the front desk...

do you add your reservation number near your name ? We will be staying at BRV in April, looking into this if prices are less that our usual Garden Grocer

We had used it last week. I had made a list a few weeks ago and checked it several times, when we got our room I went to order the stuff and items were gone. Is seems all cans of diet pepsi and diet coke disappeared off the face of the earth. They had other flavors, just not those. We made do, but I never expected them to run out out of stock.

No charge!

This is because it is based on what is currently available in their Orlando warehouse only. If they are out of diet Pepsi, they cannot make anymore appear until it gets delivered to them.

You shouldn't need to, as they call when they are approaching and you can meet them at the front of the hotel.

From my times checking, the prices are significantly better than Garden Grocer. No alcohol, though, but the driver I had this past summer said that they hope to add this soon.

Do you know if when you place the order, do they pull the items or wait until closer to delivery time?

I know it was in stock the night before. I guess in the future I can order for next day delivery, so there would be no surprises.

I have been putting together an order online, so it would be ready to submit on our arrival day. It never occurred to me do it on the app!
As for what they have in stock, I did notice that they have run out of diaper sizes. Hoping those get replenished in 35 days!

Wow! Imagine having to wait 35 days for diapers! Thankfully this is no longer an issue in my family (at least for a few years).

We are almost at the end of this stage, but we get the night time diapers just for everyone's peace of mind. And while we won't wait 35 days to get them ;) , I am hoping they get them in stock before we leave, or I may end up having to pack some. Otherwise, I can go through GreenGrocer, but pay extra.

I would look into Instacart if I were you. Cheaper than Garden grocer and similar to Prime Now in terms of their delivery time availability. Treat Prime Now as your first option and Instacart as a backup if the diapers are out of stock. You can also get $10 off coupons for your first delivery.

For our recent trip we priced out Garden Grocer, Amazon Prime Now, Amazon Prime Pantry, and Instacart. Instacart was almost always the most expensive for the items we wanted, so we dropped them from consideration.

Because of a combo of avilability and price, we placed an amazon prime pantry order, a garden grocer order, and three amazon prime now orders [one was a late night urgent luggage lock order due to luggage technical failure].

With Amazon Prime Now, I had placed the items we wanted into my prime now cart months in advance, and then checked in on them from time to time. Items dropped in and out of availability, so we were prepared for that possibility and identified alternatives, or in three cases, chose to order items as an add-on to our Garden Grocer order as we felt that had a better chance of being in stock, if more $. Note that you can only add items to your cart, there is no "favourite" or "wishlist" type option. We made a list of everything we wanted, so when an item dropped off but became available again we would remember it. THIS WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE DONE as we woudl have forgotten a couple things without this list.

For amazone prime now, I put in the delivery instructions to deliver to hotel bell services and to contact us if required, we would be available to meet them. We were not contacted and the items were delivered to bell services. With the app I could track where the order was once it was out for delivery, so we headed down and were able to pick up the order from bell services soon after delivery for two of our orders.

WDW did not charge us a fee for amazon prime now or garden grocer. There was a $5 fee for our amazon prime pantry order, which we expected -- they added it automatically to our room charges as the order arrived a few days before we did.

For all of the Amaozn orders, i added the address info to my address book ahead of the trip, of the form:

Firstname Lastname (Guest arr ## Mon)
street address of resort
Disney's Hotel Name Resort
Lake Buena Vista, FL, zipcode

address/zipcode info I took from the resort hotel's Disney website.

note I did NOT put the reservation # -- that is a valuable number that is not needed and is a potential privacy and other issue problem.

That could be another good route to follow. If you are nervous about something like diapers being available via prime now, you could just order through Amazon and have it shipped to the hotel in advance. The $5 handling fee is much less than you will spend with any other service.

Do you have to be there now to receive the items?
We've used them twice.....last time Jan. at OKW and they were left with Bell Services.

We are coming off a cruise in Jan, going to DHS, so I need to know if I need to be at the resort or not to know when to order.

When you order via prime now, it will let you know whether you have to be present or not. It seems that the triggers are cold or valuable items. That makes sense to me.
