DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

It's not a bad bet... For some reason I like hanging out with you guys...

I'll prob stay in the Castle in that suite thing if I do come down...

Seriously though, you have fun in Paris. And give your (MUCH) better half my love, and my happy birthday wishes.
She said Ahhhh

Single game Cubs tickets went on sale this morning and was able to get tix for both dates I wanted at face value. Thanks God as based on the prices for face value not sure I would have enjoyed the stub hub route. Mine and DW first date was a Cubs game at Wrigley so we are heading up for a long weekend as part of our 25 year, year long celebrations. DS coming home for a couple of days this weekend, gonna go see Black Panther tonight. Have a good weekend gents and don't forget to hug the kids.
That being said I think all of Canada is about to go into a major funk. Germany is leading Canada 4-1 late in the second period of the men's hockey semi-final. While we are having great results overall, people will go nuts if there are no men's hockey medals on top of no curling medals.

:rotfl2:
Germany????????? They didn't even make the last Olympics. Germany??? Holly carp what was that apocalypse stuff in some of the conversations?
Morning Fella's!

Thanks for calling it Dan, but I still have 2 more hours left. Than I take Queen Jodi to Paris. I will get on here when I can so be good, I may not be around to watch out for you, otherwise have a Great Week! Oh yeah, FYI, I was Rob was posting on Facebook, so he is alive.
Have a great trip Randall!

This is probably going to sound like sour grapes... but I know the vast majority of Canadians have been upset about this well before the games started.
This year, the NHL decided not to release the players.
Canada has 421 players in the NHL. That's our top 421 players. Germany... 7.

No sour grapes at all. I think the U.S. and Canada both focused too much on putting AHL players on their rosters where I think more of the junior hockey and college players should have made up the rosters.

Making meatballs and sauce tonight. :looking forward to a good (OK great) meatball sandwhich.

You're lucky your wife pays us to let you hang around.

Told the kid you MAY not go in January and she is bummed.

Seriously though, you have fun in Paris. And give your (MUCH) better half my love, and my happy birthday wishes.

I didn't know. Happy Birthday Jodi from the Pirate Princess and I.

Two years ago when I visited friends in Chicago I looked at Cubs tickets. Ouch! Needless to say we didn't go.

I can understand it. However, I do like the no NHL format. The US team fought hard, played well and just came up short. No incidents like in the past when US hokey players were an embarrassment to the county.

Good point.

Happy Friday. Glad the week is over. May be captaining two tennis teams for summer championships. Who would ever think that?

Man. You'd hope there'd be enough push back to kill that.

That's what i think. The last try was so egregious that this one just might sail thru. I emailed by state senator, like that does any good.

Right. That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. To carry over a little from FB, Everyone in the La Cava Del Tequila for Margaritas. Last one standing gets to take home the US Womens' Ice Hockey Team. Because 5 on 1 is a hell of a power play. And let me tell ya, if you don't walk out of the bar with a salty rim, you haven't had the proper experience.
)

Salty rim? I guess it depends if you are on the receiving end vs the givin end. :scared1:

Plus, none of them are going to touch their retirement benefits.

.

Nope. Funny how they created their own retirement system separate from everyone else. :furious:

Hey Randall, how do I get my number? It's Jeff from Orlando

Welcome. Dues are payable in dole whips, bacon, beer, or cake. You mail the 840+ to me and i mail to all the guys. Is this the beer podcast man?

Cubs and Blank Panther movie tickets. Sounds like a winner.

Interesting!
Hadn't thought of that.

I prefer the NHL players being allowed. I like having the best of the best at the Olympics.

Morning boys from the mother country. It's Brass Monkeys over here this morning. Lady K has a boozy Afternoon Tea, so me and the small bandits are going to watch Coco again. I see a Five Guys in our future as well, as Lady K doesn't particularly care for it. Have a good Saturday, muchachos.

Well Jeff, when I can find some WiFi in Paris I will hook you up. It is hard to do on my phone. Welcome!
You need to appoint a Deputy Chief, Chief.

The football was a disaster. Although that could be more due to football players.

You say that like they are mutually exclusive.....

I went a fair few years back to a day game and got them on the day on TM.
No, Team GB winning more than 5 medals is when you should go and find the one you never got hold of when you were younger and go bananas, for that is truly when the end of the world is nigh.

Uh Oh.
May be captaining two tennis teams for summer championships. Who would ever think that?
Well done, Oh Captain my Captain......
Making meatballs and sauce tonight.
Pork and Veal?

But if the 8th best player in Germany was better than the 421st player in Canada, he would be playing in the NHL. So its an awfully efficient way of handicapping. I do hear what you're saying about the BOTB playing, but the Basketball was a bit of a farce.

It can't hurt mate, so good on ya. More people should press their "elected representatives", as then they have to explain their decisions to people who are actually affected.
She said Ahhhh
That's what...oh never mind.
I'll prob stay in the Castle in that suite thing if I do come down...
Yeah, I've heard that's quite nice. I don't think it has a Keurig machine though, may be worth a pass.

Mornin' boys.
Not much going on here today. Just work.

Oh? I don't remember. What happened?

That's my point. I remember when East Germany would win all the medals in swimming (funny how all the women looked more like men than the men did... :rolleyes1).
But if a country particularly excels at something, then they should run roughshod over their opponents. We didn't even field a basketball team in 1992.

Morning guys, not much going on here. Didn't stay up last night for Curling but well done USA.

I can understand that. Looks like the Canadian team is a bit ticked off and is taking it out on the Czechs.

You volunteering?

I went a fair few years back to a day game and got them on the day on TM.

When the Marlins first started playing I took a detour from a trip to Pittsburg to Chicago just to watch them play 3 games against the Cubs. Even watched a few innings in the zoo that is their outfield. Love the ballpark.

Well done, Oh Captain my Captain......

Good luck Norm.

Pork and Veal?

Beef and pork. The sauce is back on the stove and the house smells wonderful.

Happy Saturday. Tennis this AM. Parts of the city and county closed for flooding. Road closures and county declared state of emergency. More rain expected. I'm in a newer subdivision and built one of the first 20 or so houses here (finished at 500+) and should be safe with all the retention basin engineering.

You say that like they are mutually exclusive.....
.

That's not a picture I wanted in my head. Thanks for that.

Kind of like USA basketball vs the rest of the world.

International DisDad Club - man of mystery.

Morning Gents.

Suppose to be mild outside but I haven't been out yet. Had my bagel and coffee while watching the speed skating mass start and watching the hockey team play a bit better than yesterday, up 4-2 in the third period.

This time next week we'll be on our way to Florida.

Did you not like the U23 football at the Olympics or the play of the English?

And wound up a lot closer than I thought it would. I would have not been pleased if they'd blown a 4 goal lead!

Kind of like USA basketball vs the rest of the world.

::yes:: That's exactly what I'm talking about.

I just think its a bit weird with the professional sports. The U23 are not the best in the world, to Ponzies point, and the World Cup is way more important to everyone if it was the full teams, so its just seems to fall flat on its face. English is a bit weird as we have single Football associations for all parts of the UK, so it never really got off the ground as a "British team".
The 92 dream team was effectively an exhibition or an all star game. Did we see Magic, Jordan, Pippen & Bird stretched to their absolute best to create something amazing like the relay teams in athletics? They hardly got out of 2nd gear. Firstly, they didn't need to , and secondly, all they dreamt of when they were kids, I'll wager, was winning the NBA Finals. Same as soccer. Everyone wants to win the World Cup. I may well have it wrong with Ice Hockey, I get the whole USSR/USA matchup and the fervour in Canada, and I completely hold my hands up of my ignorance of the sport in general but sports where their participants earn multiples of millions of coin don't seem to sit well in the Olympics. Just my humble opinion.

No gaffer, I'm a newbie
That's not a picture I wanted in my head. Thanks for that.
:rotfl2:. Hope you're all OK with the weather mate.

:cheer2: I always enjoy wheels down week. You got much to wrap up?

Home from tennis. A fairly dominant morning and not much pain. Now, it's Watford vs Everton on tv. This is a rough one to watch. Can't you get over there and do something, Dan? :lmao:

Hope you all stay safe Norm.

Thanks. We are fine where I am located.

?

I know nothing about hockey, just enjoy watching it. I'm sure some athletes rank championships more important than others. Is World Cup in soccer more important? Is NBA Championship more important than gold medal? College athletes sure did want those Olympic medals. I'm guessing LeBron's championship in his home town of Cleveland was more important than the other ones in Miami for him. For some, representing their country might be special. For others, it might be about the money or the opponent.
