Best Date Night Dinner Spot

Would you still book Blue Bayou if Pirates is not running? We are planning on doing BB F! dining pkg on April 27th and Pirates will be on refurbishment during that time (no kids with us btw).

We have eaten in BB during Pirates refurb. No problem at all. The "atmosphere" was still great -- just no boats going by.

Man, I just can’t agree re Blue Bayou. We had a good time with a Fantasmic package a few years back and may do that again this summer, Burb I can’t say the food was any better than ok. We enjoyed our food, but I would not call it fine dining or worth the price. You’re paying for the ambiance. (Plus it ain’t a date night for us if we can’t get a glass of wine!)

For me? No way. POTC is what makes BB the BB.

Disneyland seems so romantic to me at night that I'm seeing potential everywhere. Like splitting a few entrees at Carnation Cafe or Cafe Orleans and absorbing Main Street or the River from their patios. Or enjoying a few bread bowls in the little seating area behind Harbor Galley.

I guess I'm not ready for the adventure of Napa Rose, that menu just made my eyes bug out after reading the bone marrow custard followed by the sweetbreads apps! Maybe in a few more years... :D

I wonder if we just experienced a different phase of "refurbishment"? We always request and wait for a waterside seat and, seriously, it all looked the same -- the water, the lighting, the fireflies. There just weren't any boats going by, which we always tend to ignore as much as we can anyhow. So there was not loss of atmosphere for us. But maybe they have times when the water is drained, etc.? That would be a bummer.

Changing tacks here, we had a funny/weird experience another time at BB. Pirates was operating normally, but from our BB table we watched a bunch of maintenance guys walking along a pathway behind the old man shack -- a trail back behind the scenes. It was so odd to see that, Never knew there was a walkway back there, but makes sense that there would be.

Hubbie and I have done a few different date nights. We've done BB with a waterside table, twice. We love the ambiance and food. We've done cove bar, which I believe should be open when you are there (under a different name). This is one of our faves, because we try new drinks too. We really like trader sams, but it tends to be too crowded. Last trip, we did the alfresco tasting terrace. It was very relaxing with good food and drinks! If I had to pick right now, I'd pick cove bar ( or whatever they will be calling it when it reopens).

Pirates will be on refurbishment during this time?

We actually like BB when POTC is being refurbed. As a pp noted, with the water and lighting in the bayou the same, it is quieter and more romantic for us without the boats. Who needs to be interrupted by flash photos or teenagers yelling, "Throw me a roll!"
