DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Happy Friday. Glad the week is over.

Taking a college visit with DD this Saturday. It's a college we visited with her brother four years ago, so she's vaguely familiar with it, but this will be her chance to look at it from her POV. They have a good deal set up with 3 medical schools, she could be accepted into med school before her junior year in college...so that's a plus and it's about 1 and 1/2 away so not too far and not too close.

Medical school? Scholarship? Working at teaching university? Sell a kidney? :scared1:

I had to drop by because I haven't seen or heard from Nor for too long! Now the challenge is to remember how to navigate the forum and try to decipher everyone's given names versus their DIS handles!

Hey Brett. Good to see you back this way. How are you and the family?

Now that Fast's passes are now available for June 30 and after for Slinky Dog Dash & Alien Swirling Saucers:worship:, I am now in My Fantasy Football type mode:scratchin. Although I can not make FP's till the beginning of June for our August trip , I now get to go through every possible strategy to make it as smooth as possible. You are allowed 1 FP in Toy Story Land (Slinky, TSM, Alien) and 2 others, I like this because you can now add Rock n Roll Rc to the mix:thumbsup2. I am heavily leaning to the thought after rope drop TSM will be a complete walk on maybe a 2 timer:confused3

Sounds like a decent strategy. You do the single rider immediately after as well for an extra ride with little wait?

That sounds like a great plan. I guess I am a bad dad because I sent my kid 1,282.35 miles from me (I looked it up) to go to college.

And sent her to freezing weather. And paid for it. :scared1:

DS didn't go to the college 1.5 hours away...instead he's 3-400 miles away at the beach for college. That entire letting them grow up and make decisions for themselves thing sometimes feels over-rated, but then again it helps me remember that's what all that parenting stuff was about, getting them ready to grow up and make decisions for themselves.

My oldest is only a sophomore. She has talked college, but puts absolutely no effort into school. She gets Bs because she aces her tests to average with the 0s for not turning in homework. I'm not willing to pay for her to have a four year party with a $20,000 cover charge. She loses her phone with a C and doesn't get to practice driving by my rules. She drops to a C, loses privileges, does 15 minutes of homework, emails her teacher, and they change grade the next day. :sad2:

Right. That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one in La Cava Del Tequila for a cheeky couple of Cabo Wabos and a Margarita has to take Squaw from Peter Pan home. And let me tell ya, if you ain't got wood, she ain't happy.

Have a great Friday chaps from a sunny and 82f London.

I'm ready with my Cabo Wabo anejo and lime wedges ready. Cheers!!!

Morning Guys

Finally found some sun up here and now we just need some heat. Quiet morning but things should be picking up later in the day. DS will be playing in another volleyball tournament tonight and tomorrow. DW and I will be attending the provincial softball hall of fame induction dinner; one of the best friends I've ever had is being inducted today. He and his family have come home from Alberta for this so we decided to stay at the hotel and enjoy the evening with them. DS has his first match tomorrow at 8 am and DW said don't expect up to be there.

Have a good one all.

Never go to Publix when you are hungry. Spent about a billion dollars and have a ton of food. One of my choices was to get a whole chicken which will be roasted tomorrow. If I am real ambitious, I may cook it on the grill. Sheppards Pie later in the week potentially.

Sounds like a great night. Enjoy.

Cut the grass today for the first time this year. Yeah, it still sucks cutting the grass.

Look at it this way, when you move to Florida, you have to mow more often.

Not if you buy a condo. :lmao:

Enjoy that roasted chicken and shepherds pie. I never bought ground lamb from a grocery store or anywhere for that matter. I think i could be happy eating fresh seafood every day. And tequila. And bourbon. And beer. And pizza. And cake. And, nevermind.

Happy Earth Day and Sunday. Enjoy. Forecast is thunderstorms the next couple of days so the chicken will be in the oven and not on the grill.

True statement.

Not a fan of lamb so I will use a ground beef/pork combo. There is a really good butcher about 30 minutes from me and I imagine if I wanted lamb, he would do it for me.

A shepherd's pie has lamb? A cottage pie has beef? Dan, your as close as we got. What's the ruling?
No sheep = No shepherd. So Norm for the win.

However, everyone in the UK (apart from Northerners, and they don’t talk proper) uses Shepherd’s pie as a backhand for Cottage Pie. You wouldn’t think twice about ordering SP and getting beef mince. But not the other way.

Confused much? o_O

Happy Monday. The monthly campus trip resumes this week with 144 mile daily commute. :headache:

That clears it right up or left up, whichever is still confusing. :lmao:

Morning Guys.

Looks like Spring has arrived, headed for the 60s F today and warmer tomorrow. Now if I could just get rid of the stupid cold.

Have a good one!

Our temperatures are dropping this week. I thought Spring was March 23? Apparently, KY still hasn't received the memo.

'Morning all...
Hope your days are always better than the last.

1500 mile Anniversary Road Trip completed.
New Orleans, Mobile & a little bit of time in Gulfport now in the books.
Lots of memories, a hand full of souvenirs, a whole lot of walking and entirely too much good eatin'
Now I need a vacation to recover from my vacation.

Haven't gone through the photographs yet; might post up one or two later on.

Oh, and driving through Atlanta still sucks, even on a Sunday.
(And it really stinks when you get there in the middle of a torrential downpour :sad2:)

Hoping DS feels better, go home early!

I'm in the same boat. Actually had a fever and chills on Saturday. Hope you feel better!

Hey, at least you're at work...so that's....errr, something...

We have some warm weather in our part of Virginia, but it's looking wet...and not in a good way

Yay for good eating on vacation...and the idea of vacating after a vacation..

Hello Gents, happy Monday?

I've had too many of those vacations where we can back and need another vacation. And yes, the only time I found decent to drive thru Atlanta was 1:00 AM, but that sure makes it a long day. While initially disappointed I couldn't get that Vero Beach condo, one in Destin means never driving thru Atlanta. Don't know if Alabama cities are that much better, or will be better in 20 years, but it's still not Atlanta.

?

Just arrived and drove the whole way in a light rain. It may be heading your way.

Technically you are right Norm. However, it is my mother's recipe and that is what she called it. Out of deference to her, I do the same.

Sounds like a good time was had by all. I love eating in NOLA.

Lots of rain here yesterday, today and tomorrow. They say we need it so whatever.

Sorry for the lack of visiting, two weeks on the road working 18 hour days tends to do that. Took more naps this weekend than I’ve taken in total for the year. Way to backed up to catch up but skimmed through to make sure most isn’t good, if I missed something prayers to those needed them. Hope all have been enjoying life and the family, cheers, bacon, dole whips and prayers to any that need any of the above.
